Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 05:45, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination

You nominated Thomas Pilchard. There are a couple of things wrong with that: firstly he is clearly stated to be a beatified martyr, which is an assertion of notability in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Secondly, the article is adapted from the Catholic Encyclopedia, which means that the topic is considered notable by a major reference work in the field. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:23, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I think that this article shouldn't be on Wikipedia. Let's just wait and see what an admin thinks.Schuym1 (talk) 09:27, 22 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1

It is not a question of what you think. Using a nomination for speedy deletion inappropriately is a misuse of the system. I notice a high number of nominations for deletion by you. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

You're right, I have been acting like a jerk when it comes to that. I messed up big time so now I'm done editing.Schuym1 (talk) 09:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1

Actually, I will continue to add templates, but only if I know for sure.Schuym1 (talk) 19:45, 22 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1

AfD nomination of Miracle Dogs Too

I have nominated Miracle Dogs Too, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miracle Dogs Too. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Miracle Dog: How Quentin Survived the Gas Chamber to Speak for Animals on Death Row

I did some editing on the article and feel it has enough of a notability claim to escape speedy deletion. But not every book published needs an encyclopedia article. I agree with your observation that looking at help pages and explanatory pages on Wikipedia such as notability , reliable sources , articles for deletion , WP:PROD , speedy deletion can be daunting. But you will pick it up quickly enough. Feel free to ask for help if something doesn't make sense or doesn't seem to work as you expected, or if you can't find information you need. Proposed deletion of Dragon Storm (Film)

Ambox warning yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dragon Storm (Film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Comment: The decline reason (diff) in the {{dated prod}} template,

"Unnotable book that fails WP:BOOK and author requested deletion but for some reason was declined. Only other "contributer" agrees with deletion, but again declined."

neglected to mention the third editor, Edison, who posted about it two sections up on this page. — Athaenara 02:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I'd forgotten he'd done anything at all, really. Still, from the talk page discussion, I see no reason GS7 should have been declined. He added one ref and a direct quote from a review. That isn't being a major contributer. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:08, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi Schuym, Please don't get discouraged. I would be happy to adopt you if you are looking for some guidance and advice. Let me know if you would like me to help out; I'd be more than willing to answer any questions or concerns you may have and help you sort through the intricacies of the project. Eusebeus (talk) 04:42, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd like help from you. I really need it. Schuym1 (talk) 04:49, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym2

  • Ok, I am happy to help. Can you tell me what it is you are interested in and how you would like to start contributing? Eusebeus (talk) 05:13, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I am interested in DC superheroes (mainly Batman), but I have only read one Batman comic. I like Nick@Nite shows (mainly George Lopez, Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, and Home Improvement). I think that I will always like Spongebob (I'm 15 and I still like it). I want to contribute by creating articles that are biographies, info about books, and info about fictional characters. I also want to edit articles. I need help with templates (and finding templates). I need help with how to handle discussions about articles being deleted. (They just make me even more confused).
I just checked, and you're not one of the adopters.Schuym1 (talk) 05:28, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1

Anyone established editor can adopt a user; you are right, it is not something I normally do, so if you would rather have someone else, feel free to solicit elsewhere. If you would like the help, however, I am happy to assist in showing you some of the ropes. Eusebeus (talk) 05:32, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd like you to help me. I do not want to wait weeks or months for an adopter. Schuym1 (talk) 05:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1

First Steps

Ok, here are some thoughts for you. Remember that Wikipedia works by consensus and along principles that have been agreed upon over time by the editing community. It is important that you respect those principles - by doing so you contribute to their ongoing development. Here are some important overviews you may wish to read:

  1. WP:CON - lays out the consensus process
  2. WP:EDIT - explains the basics of editing articles
  3. WP:AGF - lays out the important principle of good faith - the glue that sort of keeps this place together.

Next, given your interests, you may wish to familiarise yourself with various guidelines and policies that explain "best practices" for various article types. Our notability policy and What Wikipedia is not are both important first stops to learn about what is and is not generally considered acceptable for Wikipedia. Next, consider looking through Our style guide for writing about fictional topics and our notability guideline for fictional topics - these pages help explain how to establish encyclopedic value for any material you are thinking of contributing.

Ok, that's a lot of homework, so finally something a little more fun! Why don't you check out two project pages: WP:COMICS which is a group of editors who enjoy comic-related editing; and WP:NICK - a project dedicated to Nickelodeon programming. Both of those have many active members who likely share your interests and would be happy to welcome you into their project. You will find links to various articles that fall within the purview of your interests and you can also share ideas with the folks who are working on those pages. Don't be shy about posting to the talk pages if you have a question. Eusebeus (talk) 17:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I might join a Wikiproject group. Are you going to monitor my editing? Schuym1 (talk) 19:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1
If you would like me to, I can keep an eye on your editing. Eusebeus (talk) 20:02, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I would like you to. Schuym1 (talk) 20:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1
  • Ok, I will. As a first point, you do not need to write out your username after your post. Using four tildes (~) will add you user name and the time and date of your post automatically. Remember, you can always post a message to my talk page if you have a specific question or are uncertain about something. Eusebeus (talk) 20:28, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Just to let people know, I quit the adoption a while ago because he ignored my question. Schuym1 (talk) 13:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Cramp

You submitted Wayne Cramp to be deleted, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Cramp, but then you removed the AFD tag (to add the unref'ed and cleanup templates). Do you want to withdraw the deletion nomination, or still leave it up for discussion? Yngvarr (c) 23:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to stop the disscussion. If someone wants the disscussion, they can put the template back. Sorry for causing trouble. Schuym1 (talk) 23:57, 27 June 2008 (UTC)schuym1
It's no trouble at all. Once the tag is in place, if you withdraw the nomination, it's usually better to notify the deletion discussion, and then someone will close it. I'll make a note on it for you. Yngvarr (c) 23:59, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Good reading

Hello! I saw in an AfD that you posted that you are a "newbie". Anyway, I strongly urge you to take a look at everything listed under User:Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles#Articles that all editors should read, which should help you in AfDs. Happy editing! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 20:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hey! You're that user I talked to on the first Miracle Dogs AfD. good to see that you're sticking around. You'll find that some things on wikipedia are a morass of procedures and protocol (deletion of anything being one of them). These things are usually that way for a reason. Nevertheless, most things are free from procedural constraints and you'll find that you have a lot of freedom to improve the project in your own small way. Also, you will find that not everything you get sent needs to be read. Occasionally someone will tell you that they have a collection of essays that encompass everything an editor need know. Please know that each of these essays is just the opinion of the particular user that authored it and in no way represents the community view. Ask your sponsor (I can see he already linked some) for some good examples of community consensus on issues.

Have fun on wikipedia and send me a tell--err, post on my talk page--anytime you need help with something. Protonk (talk) 17:05, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Your Article/Other stuff

Hi Schuyler, Sorry I am not going to be around much over the next few days - Canada Day and all that - so I may take a while to respond to your queries. However, as your new article goes, have you reviewed WP:BK? That gives an overview of whether a book deserves its own article- review the criteria carefully. Generally, there's a notability guideline for every general area of content. If you are unsure, ask me ahead of time and I can direct you to the right page. You can also create a "sandbox" version of a new article before officially creating it by making it apart of your userspace. Here's the link for how to do that: Wikipedia:User_page#How_do_I_create_a_user_subpage.3F

As for the kind of stuff you might want to include, I rewrote some of the article on Don_Quixote - and it has about everything you can imagine a book having - so go take a look for the kind of thing you can include.

I see you have been active at AfD. Good for you! Remember to review WP:ATA and WP:N and WP:NOT for some arguments to use and not to use at AfD - generally, when you bring an article to AfD it is a good idea to specify the policy or guideline you feel the article in question does not meet. I !vote (we use "!vote" here to show it is not a straight up vote) in AfD (usually to delete) a lot so any review of my contribution history will give you examples of AfD participation! I will reiterate what was said above to you - a lot of individual opinion floats around Wikipedia and people may direct you to read their favourite essays and the like. Do so solely at your discretion, since your viewpoint is yours to arrive at on your own. Eusebeus (talk) 22:54, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

I just got done reading the notability for books article. I'll be sure to read the three AfD articles, that you posted, also. Schuym1 (talk) 23:19, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

I can't make an article that has stuff that Don_Quixote has, because the two articles that I made are about new books Schuym1 (talk) 03:02, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Chike

Hi Schuym, I didn't think that you acted like a jerk at all, and I do apologize for leaving this in such a stubby state for so long. I started it back when I was helping get Chinua Achebe to Featured status, but then I moved on to other projects and had forgotten about it. I promise I'll flesh this out soon! No worries at all. --JayHenry (talk) 00:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

No More Dead Dogs

I just noticed that you tagged my article for deletion without notifying me. I apologize that I was away for a while but still, couldn't you have let me know? --Meldshal42 (talk to me) 01:03, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I could have, but it didn't cross my mind. I should have notified you and I'm sorry Schuym1 (talk) 01:25, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:MySisterAndMe.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:MySisterAndMe.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 09:03, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

What you have to do

  1. Go to Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and choose a copyright tag. If you want more informations about the licenses, go to Wikipedia:Copyright FAQ#Licenses.
  2. Go to Image:MySisterAndMe.jpg and add the tag you choosed. For example, for self works released under GFDL, add {{GFDL-self}}.

After conclusion of this 2 points, the image is accepted on Wikipedia. Plus, if you can write "Dumbass!", as you did, on my talk page, you can also insert a copyright tag. I hope your words for now on will be moderated, otherwise I have to report you to administrators. We don't want that happen, would you? Have a good work! Regards, Sdrtirs (talk) 04:46, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Cbsite and removing warnings

Policy does not prohibit users, including both registered and anonymous users, from removing comments from their own talk pages - Please don't war over replacing talk page warnings...and "stupid spammer" probably isn't the most civil description. --OnoremDil 12:52, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

When I went by the username Mr. Nobody, I was told that removing warnings was considered vandalism. Schuym1 (talk) 12:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Heh, Wikipedia is a confusing place... ;-) Don't worry. That was probably a while back, right? There was a time when such an opinion was rather wide-spread. But during the last one or two years, opinion has moved towards what's now a pretty solid consensus that it's no use trying to force people to keep such warnings on their pages against their will. Fut.Perf. 13:01, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Status on userpace

Hey, I saw your post on the help desk and I thought I'd chime in even though you said you'd given up. My userpage uses a neat script from User:Xenocidic. Simply import this script into your monobook.js page:

importScript('User:Xenocidic/statusChanger2.js');

and add {{Statustop}} to your userpage. Its really simple. The script will put the links 'online', 'busy', 'around', and 'offline' at the top of your browser (where 'my talk', 'my preferences', 'my watchlist', etc. are located). I suggest using it. Feel free to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions! Happy editing! Scottydude talk 03:33, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh!

What skin do you use? If you don't use monobook than the script won't work. You'll need to import it into the JavaScript page for the skin you use. Scottydude talk 04:11, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Deleting redirect on Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure

You can edit the redirect as Zain Ebrahim told you on the Help desk. Unless you make a good case for notability with reliable sources, however, your edits are apt to be reverted by someone (like User:TTN) who prefers a redirect. This has happened at least twice already. So it’s probably a good idea discuss your evidence with TTN first. —teb728 t c 20:19, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

BTW, to get your references to show, add "<references />" where you want them to appear. I did this for you in the article. —teb728 t c 20:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Monster Jam: Urban Assult

I was able to find a good source in 1UP.com that I have properly referenced in the article. Just make sure next time, first, that referenced links work (two of them you added were not working) and, second, to use an appropriate inline citation method set forth at WP:CITE; external links are not for references. As far as the WP:PROD is concerned, good call on contesting it, and my apologies for not doing my homework before prodding. I will not pursue AfD or go any further with it. Thank you, MuZemike (talk) 04:47, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

I am going to speedily merge this article to Monster Jam: Urban Assault, as this article already exists, and the person who created Monster Jam: Urban Assult misspelled the word "assault." Then the misspelled article will be speedily deleted per R3 (redirect with implausible typos/misnomers). MuZemike (talk) 21:25, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Monster Jam: Urban Assult, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MuZemike (talk) 21:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

You changed your mind :)

I saw your 2 recent edits on the AfD for Dinosaur Island. As much as I hate saying the Stuff Exists, you cold easily make the same argument for every single Land Before Time movie .... they simply exist. The movie is on video, sold quite well, and features a well-known writer (who worked on Spielburg shows). I don't know what else you need ... I was just trying to save what I thought was an article that deserved it. BMW(drive) 23:06, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

AFD closure

I have reverted your AfD closure because there were multiple delete posts. See the part of Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions which says "The sole exception is if you are closing your own withdrawn nomination as a speedy keep and all other viewpoints expressed were for keep as well". PrimeHunter (talk) 23:06, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Having it open a few more days should be harmless. People who have spent time evaluating an article and posting delete arguments may be annoyed if their posts are completely ignored - and they might start a new AfD if the old was speedy closed due to a withdrawing nominator. When it's eventually closed, the closer should take into account whether delete posts were made before or after the expansion. Users who withdraw or change their stand can strike out the old post like this to make the change clear (but it shouldn't be done to posts by others). PrimeHunter (talk) 00:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

American Poems

BTW ... I had to re-add the americanpoetry entry, it has unique review/text about the movie that does not exist anywhere else. I have never had any issues with it showing up as an advert. Thanks in advance. BMW(drive) 15:51, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Rangers F.C. seasons

The page is blanked so it is deleted as the orginal content has been moved to the page Rangers F.C. season 2003-04 to keep in with the format of the other Rangers F.C. seasons pages. Thanks. Yatesy1988 (talk) 18:02, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank You

Thank you SO much. It's my first time doing that nomination (and first times are always difficult...) and I didnt know what I did wrong. Actually, you got me writing an admin. to see if he could help me out, but you had helped me out already without even requesting. I'll look at what I did wrong for the next time...

Thank you very much and have a great weekend! Mountolive spare me the suspense 22:52, 29 August 2008 (UTC).
