Newborn Yellow-belly Slider

[edit]

I just found a newborn Yellow-belly that is injured. Its right front foot is mangled to the point of no use. It’s missing a toe on the left rear foot and also has some bruising on the belly. Guess something tried eat it. I got a 10 gallon tank with gravel piled up on one end with a small log, and shallow water on the other end in it (enough for the little thing to swim in). I don’t have a filter yet (not really enough water in the tank). I’m wondering what's the ideal way to set up the tank considering this newborn doesn’t have use of a front leg? If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I have no experience with reptiles but am a vet tech for dogs, cats and horses. I couldn't just let this little thing stay in the wild being injured.
