BAMCEF[edit]

Hi Shivashree, I'm thankful for your appreciations. I accept you invitation to contribute towards the information of BAMCEF as I know there are two types of organization functioning on the name of BAMCEF one is known as registered BAMCEF and the other is unregistered BAMCEF. Their goals and motivations and entirely different. I think there is a need to study on this aspect before commenting upon it.

Any future suggestions are requested on my works. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ranjithsutari (talkcontribs) 18:49, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jhalkaribai peer review[edit]

Generally a good article. (I am unfamiliar with the subject.) The introduction is too long relative to the article as a whole. Much of the intro. should be taken to the legacy section at the end. The queen who is mentioned should be identified when she is first referred to. Some small cleanup is required to make the language more idiomatic and the tone more encyclopedic. The Buddha and His Dhamma[edit]

Hi, I'm happy to learn that we share common interests. I've checked you previous edits on The Buddha nd His Dhamma, you have presented the complete table of content, and some reference to the terms in the content. I want to present this article with a perfect overview, where every one will come to know the four points that BabaSaheb has raised in this book and the answers provided in this book. As I know this book is available for free(open source) so I don't think there will be any copyright violations.

Any suggestions are requested on my works

Thank you

Noticed that there are many names in "List of Indian poets" page who do not have their own pages in wikipedia. The policy is to give external reference if there is no individual wikipedia page. In this case, an external reference has been provided.

DYK concerns[edit]

I'm a little concerned about the promotion of the Jonaki (magazine) hook since the copy editing I stated needed to be done before promotion was not done in any fashion. A native English speaker needs to take a quick pass through to eliminate awkward phrasing and the like before this reaches the front page. - Dravecky (talk) 23:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed the article is not created by a native English speaker and it may have some "awkward phrasing" as you noted. Could you please specify those phrasings? (I too am not a native English speaker). However, I will request User:Xeteli to find someone for quick copyedit. The article hook is currently in prep area and will take at least 36 to 48 hours to appear on Main Page. I hope he can find a fresh pair of eye before it appears there. Shivashree (talk) 03:01, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks Shivashree for notifying me the concern. But honestly speaking I am also not a native English speaker. I do agree that the article needs some copyediting. In that case, if somebody comes forward to do the job, I would be thankful to him/her. -- XETELI (HELLO) • FOOTAGE) 07:24, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Castes in India[edit]

Following is the copy-past discussion from Rankithsutari's talk page:

Hi Ranjit: Good work going at User:Ranjithsutari/Castes in India: Their Mechanism, Genesis and Development. Keep it up. I have fixed a few wikilinks in the article and made some minor copyedits. This presentation is an important book for research and study of caste system in many universities and academic programs. This sentence seems a bit ambiguous; can we re-frame it with avoiding the dubious words with some firm reference? This article is cited by many scholars several times and it is certainly an important document for the researchers of the subject. You can find some scholars who cited this book here and here. Sincerely, Shivashree (talk) 04:23, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ranjith: I really appreciate your efforts contributing to Babasaheb-related articles, but I am afraid that the Castes in India article is not going in a correct direction. Wikipedia is a encyclopedia and not a collection of original sources or quotations (see WP:QUOTE). If you want to publish the complete paper, you can copy paste it on wikisource (I believe it's already there). As it is published in 1917, it is in public domain in USA where Wikipedia server is based. If you just want to quote just some excerpts, you may do it on Wikiquotes, which was almost no information about Babasaheb. On Wikipedia, we write about the things, not the things themselves. I do not want to discourage you, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and we must keep it such. Please let me know your thoughts. Shivashree (talk) 04:34, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shivashree, I am very thankful for your appreciations. I'm presenting this article to give some space for complex points raised by Babasheb. In regard to its complexity it might not be possible to present it in others view. I hope this article is not presenting the complete source itself. I understand the mechanism of Wikipedia:Copy-paste. I hope this article will meet the WP:BK guidelines. Any further suggestions are requested on my works.--Ranjithsutari (talk) 17:23, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This article certainly meets notability guidelines, I am not questioning it at all. As you may have noticed I myself had started this article a couple of years ago, but it was deleted then as I was a very infrequent editor at that time and could not take part in the deletion discussion. What I am concerned about is the structure of the article. The book itself becomes a primary source when we are writing about the same book. We should base our article more on secondary and tertiary sources rather than primary. WP:PRIMARY states that Do not base articles entirely on primary sources. The book is important enough that we can find enough secondary sources to make our article at least a good one. Also, the words like "I", etc. does not look good in encyclopedic content. You can get some help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Books/Non-fiction article. We must be more cautious because this article was deleted once and we will need to get permission from the deleting administrator before moving it to mainspace. Sincerely, Shivashree (talk) 08:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's ready to move. It needs some work to be done yet, but let it be open to the Wikipedia community to do. You just ask the deleting administrator before making a move to have a look at the article. I am quite busy nowadays in my professional life and not able to find much time to work on larger projects. Thanks for retrieving this article from the deletion.

P.s. I am copy-pasting this whole discussion to the article talk page to make it available for those who might be interested in the work you did before bringing this article to mainspace. Shivashree (talk) 04:48, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:15, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In February you added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this). I'm removing a lot of similar references; many other editors have also been deceived by these sources. Another publisher that reuses Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Thanks for letting me know about these unreliable sources. We must try hard to make Wikipedia a reliable encyclopedia. Thanks again. Shivashree (talk) 03:13, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback[edit]

Thanks Ranjith a lot for starting Fighting against untouchability in the article about Dr. Ambedkar. It was the most important aspect of his life and up till now it was ignored out of the article. Any biographical article about Dr. Ambedkar cannot not even start without this aspect of his life.

I am very sorry that I am having very limited access to internet these days and cannot participate actively in any of your projects on Wikipedia, some of which are too close to my heart. Also, article about Bahishkrit Hitakarini Sabha is very important and it must by on this encyclopedia. If you have writing and speeches of Dr. Ambedkar, the constution of the Sabha is published in Volume 17, part 3, and it will be helpful to you if you intend to start the article. Also teh attached image from commons may be useful for illustrating in the article about the Sabha.

Left me know about your progress. Shivashree (talk) 04:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your appreciation. I think this aspect of Babasahebs' life is very important because it clearly shows the hypocrisy, which still exists in this society. I think presenting this aspect in Babashebs' own words is the best way to justify this article. There are many more articles specifically related to Babasahab which qualify the criteria to be on this encyclopedia, but unfortunately I do not have the access to any of the volumes of "Writings and Speeches of Dr. Ambedkar" moreover I can't afford it. I am trying to find on internet but it is available only in Telugu language that too upto 8 volumes only. If you have any links of the Vol. 15, Vol.16 and 3 parts of Vol. 17 please kindly provide me. Thanks in advance--Ranjithsutari (talk) 09:28, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Stories Project[edit]

Hello,

My name is Victor Grigas, and I'm a storyteller at the Wikimedia foundation. We're telling stories of Wikipedia users, editors, donors, programmers and staff to paint a picture of who uses Wikipedia - for the 2011 fundraiser.

I am in the process of planning a trip to India to gather stories from Indian Wikipedians in face-to-face interviews (possibly on video).

My primary goal is to conduct 15-20 interviews, and hopefully enough of my interviews will make compelling stories that will effectively solicit donations from the public. These stories may also be used for other communication purposes by the foundation.

I found your userpage on a list of prolific Wikipedians and thought I’d reach out to you. Prolific editing is always a good story to tell!

If you are interested in participating, please contact me via my email:

Thank you for your time!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vishwas Patil, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Notice

The article Bhope has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I'm not seeing any significant and/or non-trivial coverage in any reliable source (books, scholarly dissertations et al), to justify a standalone article. It may be further noted that a source from the State Series of The People of India covers the topic but has been determined to have heavily plagiarized from Raj-era sources and is thus unreliable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi, am writing since you had earlier discussed the subject and had provided reasons why the move needs to be done. Since there is a redirect already present at Jotirao Phule, I submitted a requst for technical help in completing the move. An editor [1] felt that fresh consensus should be sought. I have created a new thread in the Phule Talk page. Would appreciate your inputs, thanks! - Sdsouza (talk) 12:44, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
