WMAQ former on air talent list

Hello SineBot Thanks for your message I didn't know about that. I was wondering if I could get your opinion in my favor. On the WMAQ former personalites, editors keep deleting all the names posted and I don't feel it is right. You had made some adjustments to the industry jargon on that page and I respected and agreed with your decision. I was wondering if you could write a statement in favor of the 98.223.95.42 edits posted on the village link on the discussion page. The person took a lot of time and effort into the list. We just need a few more in our favor and the edits will be reverted back to the way it should. Or if you just want to revert it back yourself. So you recieved an automated message from SineBot telling you to sign your posts, but you say that you already know that you have to sign your posts? Firstly, SineBot only sends out a message if you don't sign your post, and it looks to me like you haven't signed your post here. Bit of a contradiction, don't you think? Excuse me...

Why is it that you automatically sign my messages to other contributors when I already sign them? I try to place my custom signature in the "signature" section of my prefs, but they wouldn't allow more characters in the box. So I just paste in my signature from a text file I keep.

I have been having probloms when i sign.  sorry.  i did type the tildas, but my computer's grave key is messing up, and i am blind, and my screen reader doesn't really recognize some buttons on pages.  Reply if you have an easy solution, oh, and not "don't use talk pages at all".  I am starting to feel like i am in a cort, where anything i say is thought to be made up when it isn't. what to do?

What do i do if my friend is on my computer and wants to ask something on the wiki ref desk, and they go to sign their post. What do i do so the wikipedia users don't think it is me just because Hope and Wendal (they don't mind their names being used) use my computer at times, and so do other friends of mine. How can i differ my posts from theirs when you keep signing for them, what do i do? keep telling them to put the anonymous and !nosine!?

!nosine! "anywhere in the edit summary" isn't working as advertised. I must say that I detest this little bot as much as any bit of automation I've ever encountered anywhere on the internet, and I'm including that dastardly virus I got back in 2004 that filled my screen with IE popups.

On a related note, what are you supposed to do for input fields (like this one) without an associated edit summary?

Makkah or Mecca

• Here are some reasons for what Makkah should be used instead of Mecca;

Officially everywhere in the Saudi Arabia spell Makkah is used for the Holly city. No where Mecca is used.

Mecca refers to house of wine/gambling etc which is not correct use here for Holy city. Whether it is lower case 'm' or capital 'M' it means same, nothing difference just blowing dust in dyes of Muslims. Where you write your name with small caps or large caps meaning will be same, make sense. I don't know why wikipedia consensus was on Mecca because below comments are also referring and proving for Makkah.

Another thing in Arabic Makkah (مَکہ) has vowel above 'M' not below 'M'. If pronounced correctly 'a' after 'M' mean vowel is above 'M', however 'e' after 'M' means vowel is below 'M' which is not correct.

The reason below that Google uses Mecca more times than Makkah, answer is validity of things can't be simply depends on numbers. There are many things controversial (which I will not discuss in detail here) which doesn't rely on number power. Suppose any resolution is passed by NATO however America can VETO power that. Whats that? Because America is right and all others are wrong? Why not majority decision is accepted? So saying numbers for Mecca are more over internet doesn't make sense for using that.

Erroneous SineBot warnings/notices

I'm posting this even though I know that the SineBot is not a person, and so neither it, nor anyone else, from what I can tell, will ever read this. Er... well... wait: The people who miss the monster-sized-font notice at the top of this page that the SineBot isn't human, and so it won't be doing any either reading or talking on this page... they might read this... you know... just before they post, here, thinking that someone will actually read what they wrote!

I just had this message posted by the SineBot to my "Talk" page:

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. For the record, I have NEVER failed to sign, with four tildes, absolutely ANYTHING I've ever posted on Wikipedia. Ever!

The error is with the Wikipedia robotic system. About 20% (or so) of the time, after I've signed something with the four tildes, the SineBot will append this note to it...

Proposal: SineBot should use a normal signature when signing

I guess many of us have experienced the embarrassment of SineBot signing our comments. Wouldn't it be better if SineBot automatically signed with the standard signature of the user (if the user has a custom signature, just use plain letters) instead of the "preceding unsigned comment".... text, while leaving a notice on the user's talk page? Hey sinebot, the third way to sign your posts is by typing {{user|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} which will display as (your username) (talk · contribs). Gerry.y.ma (talk · contribs)
