  • OK, so your edits were listed--you hadn't made any edits at all outside of the Wiki Edu dashboard until today. As I suggested, the edits you made to Rubber band and Ashtray are a good beginning, but they are not enough to fulfill any of the assignments; they are simply too minor for that. It is high time to take the assignments seriously and do some serious work. This is a writing class--so far, you have written two commas and removed one instance of the word "and".   • I really think you should think about the things we talked about in class. An article on crime rates would do what...list crime rates. That's not article writing, and there are no such articles on Wikipedia, for a good reason. Type in Crime rate in Gibraltar. The other suggestion--an article on a shoe manufacturer? It's a somewhat fancy brand, but it started only in 1988, and I do not see how you're going to pull a real article out of this; such topics are hard to develop, believe me--Sissy-Boy was difficult enough, and that's a country-wide brand.   • I was hoping to see some notes about any of those New Orleans baseball teams; as I suggested, this would be a great opportunity.

    I looked at your other edits, but they are still very, very minor. What was happening in Ashtray wasn't copyediting; these 42 edits, that's copyediting. Plus, you added an odd link which had nothing to do with ashtrays. I saw your talk page comment as well--sure, but there also, it's all so easy and vague. Finally, speaking of links, I said in class, and I announced it via Blackboard, no more websites--real sources please. It should be obvious that this is not a reliable source... Plagiarism[edit]

Hi! I had to remove some content from the article Secret Nine Baseball with this edit. The reason for this is that small portions of it are too closely paraphrased from the source material. The problem with closely paraphrasing is that it is still seen as a copyright violation of sorts, even though you did try to rephrase things to a certain degree. I know that it has to be a little frustrating, especially since the bulk of the material that you added was a quotation.

A good way to get around this might be something like the following:

In August 1931 a reporter for the Louisiana Weekly commented that the team was "outfitted with just about everything a good ball club needs" that included everything “from their baseball caps down to the mascot’s water bucket.” The players tried to keep their new uniforms in good condition, something that proved detrimental as they did not want to mar them by sliding in the dirt. In the same Louisiana Weekly article it was noted “Yeah, Louis’s boys were all spruced up in their ‘Sunday Go To Meetings,’ but when it came to bucking up against a guy with a luck-piece, they couldn’t meet the issue. Wonder if they were too well dressed?”

If you want to use this content, feel free. In any case, in the future try to avoid closely paraphrasing because this is still seen as a copyright violation and a form of plagiarism, even if this wasn't your intention.   • OK. Look, I just saw that edit to that ambassador's article roll by. I think it would be a good idea to revert that--there are no grammatical errors, and the writing is fine, as far as I could see. Sure, there's only two sources, and that can do with improvement, but the two sources are from solid newspapers. He doesn't need "awards"--many people don't get awards, and having been an ambassador is enough by our standards. If you mean that his other professional activities are missing, I don't know--I didn't look for that. I'm glad you involved Jo-Jo, who gave just about the same answer I would've, except I didn't know about {{non-free reduce}} (which wouldn't have mattered anyways, since someone dropped by to add that template). Sir.Leyenda, you should still supply the source where you obtained the image. Good luck with the DYK. It's got something that's unfortunately all too rare – an interesting and "hooky" hook.   • Got a request to comment on this image. It is a so-called "non-free image" and under our policies it can't be used or uploaded until the draft has been moved to article space. When the article has been moved here you just need to add {{non-free reduce}}{{non-free book cover}}{{subst:Book rationale|The Rabbit's Wedding}} to the image. LadyofShalott and I have made a few edits, but there is much more to be done--esp. in grammar, but also in organization. Please look at what we've done and look at the edit summaries. The more you leave for others to do, the less you will have done yourself--and you're the one who's going to be graded on it. It'll only get on the front page if it's clean. A caveat, Sir Leyenda: it is important to click on links to make sure they are going to the article you expect.   • OK, it's nominated. Bookmark Template:Did you know nominations/The Rabbits' Wedding and check for updates. The article is not finished. The plot summary needs to written/rewritten in grown-up language. Same with the Controversy section; parts there seem to be out of order. "Expelled it from general flow"--what is "flow"? "General circulation" is a technical term for librarians. Also you make it sound as if she banned it, but it's the opposite: she made it available though perhaps in a particular way. On 19 May 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Rabbits' Wedding, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status.
