AfD

[edit]

Hi. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but can I politely suggest that listing of articles for deletion requires significant experience following long term participation in Wikipedia and a total familiarity with our notability and deletion policies. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:27, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, I know I haven't been on Wikipedia for a long time, but I have created articles that did and did not survive the deletion policy. I know how difficult it is to start an article and especially how heartbreaking it is to see it fail the deletion policy. I tried before to make an article about a website that had no notability at all, and a few hours after it was made, it was listed for speedy deletion. The articles that I am listing for deletion are mostly in that category of shameless promo. Some, though, are really up to debate and I can have my mind changed. That's why I list them in the AfD. For now, it seems that I have put myself in the spotlight for listing for deletion. I'll take a break on my rampage and only add notability templates to the articles! :) Sociable Song (talk) 21:54, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but do go very easy on tagging until you have significant experience - generally, people who join Wikipedia with the main intention of policing it have joined for the wrong reason. That said, when you do have more experience, you may wish to apply for special rights to help with our combat of vandalism, and later with even more experience, patrolling new pages. South Lancashire Regiment

[edit]

Hi - Please read WP:DRIVEBY. This article is actually very well referenced as the result of some hard work by many editors over many years. Although the VC section was not referenced, every one of the supporting articles on VC holders was referenced using the London Gazette. I have actually transferred the references to the South Lancashire Regiment so there is no question. Always remember that it may be easy to fix it yourself. Dormskirk (talk) 17:36, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Dormskirk Hi there, thanks for adding the citations. It may seem like I don't care about the hard work behind the article, when I tagged that citation request. But rest assured, I didn't mean to demean the editors. The lead section has no citations, however. I'll direct that conversation to the article's talk page. Sociable Song (talk) 17:57, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lead sections do not normally have references: they should be a summary of the article. Please read WP:LEAD. Best wishes, Dormskirk (talk) 17:59, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
