Help and Questions[edit]

  • I haven't been able to find out what font I need to display everything in Wikipedia properly.
    • I see that there are many fonts available when I search, but
    • so far I have been unable to find a page to help me understand why my browser won't display certain text.
  • An example: When I navigate to the following page: (I_Know)_I'm_Losing_You
    • on the right side of the page are some info boxes. At the top of each info box is a line that displays the title of the song, and perhaps the title is surrounded by quotes or something--I can't tell because what I see are three garbled characters (in sequence: an accented letter 'a', a square, another square) “.

Thank you in advance for any help with this. SpiderDawn (talk) 01:47, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Huh. The quotes render propetly for me. Could you ask at the help desk perhaps? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 01:51, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Further information: Browsers
    • Opera is my browser of choice (using v.9.52)
    • When I use Firefox on the same computer, I can see all the text okay.
  • I found a solution to my problem after fiddling around with some menu items I hadn't considered previously.
    • Open Wikipedia page with garbled type.
    • In Opera, navigate to View/Encoding/Automatic Selection.
    • The page automatically reloaded, displaying the type correctly.
