Excellent. Thanks so much – apparently it not only fixed the improperly British spellings, but corrected errors under the heading of "Scartol is a moron" as well. "Pankurst"? Was I drunk when I wrote that?

As for the IE slicing of userboxes; I notice it at school, which is the only place I have access to IE these days. I can probably figure it out if I try, but right now I don't care enough to put in work on it. Thus the FireFox notice at the top of the page. And if a source says it, it is insufficient simply to point me to the footnote. As it is there's no way to tell it's from a source. It needs some attribution. (also, rereading that section of text, I must ask: did you just copy it from the book? No, I did not copy it, I applied the epithet simply as something well known. It is actually quite by accident that the footnote happens to be pointing to a page which also uses it. I've moved that for you. The best way to do these moves is with the "move" tab. That will move the history and the talk page along with the article. The reason is that I have had endless problems with images that have been moved to Commons. Images get moved to Commons with incomplete information, then Commons deletes them because the info is incomplete. Meanwhile the image is gone from Wikipedia and the history cannot be recovered. The Lecher line article had a circuit diagram in it that had been there for years. That got moved to Commons and exactly that happpened to it. I caught it before it actually got deleted but could not stop it happening. Because the history was gone from Wikipedia, the original uploader could not be found to verify the status and tag it. Anyone with an ounce of common sense could see that a simple circuit diagram was never going to be the subject of copyright suit but it got deleted anyway. I took the trouble to reproduce the diagram before it went, no-one in the trigger happy deletion brigade would ever consider doing that but it is ok to create work for me.

I see a lot of images on commons with something like source "said to be by xxxx". I have not really looked into this but it does not seem to be properly crediting the author in these cases. Can you assure me that the info template will appear on commons exactly as I originally completed it? - that is complete with Description, Source and Author field. Looking at a few random images on commons, these fields are NOT as originally completed. I know it's not the case here, but it does happen that images are modified after first creation. Does the history of the original version go to commons as well? If you are answering no to anything here then you know why I am objecting. SpinningSpark 22:58, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi - thanks for your help in the above dispute. I'm most grateful for you pointing out what I'd done wrong, as it was easy for me to see what was wrong with the other editors' contributions - without stopping and looking at myself. I guess the premise of the three revert rule is to stop edit warring, which (in this case) technically didn't happen with three reverts in 24 hours. I'm going to cool off on this article now, it's still in my watchlist but I'm hoping that now another editor has stepped in, they'll realise that there are reasons for our policies. Klotski

Hi, I saw that you recently added Klotski to Combination puzzles. Just thought I should point out that sliding block puzzles is possibly a more relevant link, since this is a general family of games that includes such things as Rush Hour, or Minoru Abe's pathologically difficult "Climb" puzzles (e.g. Climb Pro 24, for which no minimal solution is known due to the absolutely massive number of possible combinations and the nature of the puzzle, which seems to require brute-force search). Having said that, though, sliding block puzzle seems to need some attention and some fleshing out, and I'm wondering if you may have some knowledge about it that you could contribute.—Tetracube (talk) 20:20, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't really have any special knowledge. I added Klotski because it is a) well known, b) I liked the wooden block picture (much nicer than all those on-line versions) and c) the sliding block puzzle article is only about uniform square block puzzles (does this type have a generic name? should that be the name of the article?). Sliding block puzzle already has a link in combination puzzles - in fact it has two. Klotski seems to be distinctly different from those, but feel free to make it more logical if you want. The only thing I could really add is that I have a 3-D version of Klotski which continually drops random shaped blocks into the puzzle. That certainly makes you think fast but I don't think the puzzle is notable in the Wikipedia sense as far as I know. SpinningSpark 19:48, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

No, you are not being rude, I was the one who used an uncivil tone. To make it clear, my point was that it is not necessary to reply to every single poster. I think the best way to proceed is to make your argument and invoke the relevant policies then let everyone else make there comment in turn. The way it looks to someone new to the discussion is that if they !vote keep they will get flamed by the proposer. That can be intimidating to some people, especially the wiki inexperienced. Personally, when I make an AfD nomination, I only respond if there is new information to add, there is a misunderstanding that must be clarified or I am directly asked a question. If people are making a bad argument I do not feel it is necessary to challenge them, if I can see that it is wrong, others will as well and a faulty argument on the other side works in your favour. I might in rare cases respond in a single post if I felt several people were missing a point, but otherwise leave them to make up there own mind. Sorry for the blunt comment but I figured as a Navy man you would have heard a lot worse and would not take it to heart. SpinningSpark 22:47, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Could use your help and advice

I'd be grateful if you could take a look at the recent history of the Christian Coalition of America article. An anonymous user with the IP 74.230.238.189 has been persistently deleting large portions of the article, and replacing other sections. I have repeatedly asked this user to discuss reasons for the deletions on the talkpage; there has been no response other than to re-insert the changes every time they're deleted. At this point, I feel that it's appropriate to request some form of arbitration, but I'm not sure which level of arbitration to seek. I noticed that you were willing to help out in matters of dispute resolution, and as a relatively new editor, I wanted to seek the guidance of someone more experienced before I take any further steps. Help required

Hi. Please excuse the post but I was after some advice. I am having difficulty with an anonymous contributor who is posting and re-posting a speculative paragraph about computer crime on Gravesend Grammar School. As you will see from my user profile I have contributed a lot to the site as well as being the Chairman of the Governing Body. The contributor continues to post information which concerns a former member of staff, an internal and confidential staffing issue and draws a sepculative conclusion, which if I was the person named, I would consider to be libellous. Naturally I want to preserve the integrity of the article and avoid Wiki being used for speculation. The comments add nothing to the article about the history and nature of the school. I have reverted this three times but do not want to do more because of the three reverts rule, I have tried to keep my comments with the contributor objective, but I fear this will descend into an edit war.
