Culture articles[edit]

You recently created the articles Culture of Kazakhstan and Culture of Afghanistan, but only with markers saying the articles will exist. Now, I certainly want those articles to exist (indeed, I put up the requests). But that kind of article tends to be deleted on sight by certain admins, citing either nonsense or no context. If you are intending to create those articles yourself, there's no need for such a marker. If you're not actually writing the articles, it's actually better to leave them uncreated, as they'll be more likely to be written by others when they see a red link then a blue one. And I was going to fully welcome you until I noticed you're a veteran, but, well, welcome anyway. --Dmcdevit 02:38, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

    • After I sent you that email, I saw your claim to an article on Culture of Khazakistan. Since I was flailing around in nearby Chitin earlier today, I thought I'd take a look. Aren't you a bit ashamed to be taking credit for a Article when it's barely a stub??? I guess I'd best not take YOU too seriously. Fabartus 06:25, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Speedy deletion[edit]

While it may be the legitimate topic, if a user is banned, there is no reason to waste time for filtering his contributions good/bad. He was a huisance vandal for quite some time. Also, the notability is not judged by a website. My son can do better. Also, the notability is not the only criterion. Mikkalai 05:17, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

There is a discussion on this underway at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Misapplication of CSD policy. Sincerity 12:43, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Primitive Irish[edit]

It would have been nice if you had asked what other people thought before moving Primitive Irish to Proto-Irish. The prefix Proto- with language names generally means that the language is reconstructed, not attested. But Primitive Irish is in fact attested in a few inscriptions, as the article says. It's true that there's no such thing as a "primitive language" in one definition of "primitive", but in this case Primitive Irish is the best known name for the language of the inscriptions. --Angr/tɔk tə mi 21:10, 28 May 2005 (UTC)

Thank You Girl[edit]

Hi - thought you'd like to know I've rewritten this article (which you put on vfd). Actually "written" might be a better word - there wasn't anything there to rewrite, really! Grutness...wha? 03:10, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Your nomination on COTW[edit]

Hiya Revolución, I have removed your submission, since you didn't use the templates - using the templates helps greatly in administration and now we've switched to them if a new cotw is added without using them it is rather confusing. Thanks for understanding and I hope you can see why I did this. Cheers, Talrias (t | e | c) 23:16, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Page moves[edit]

Please do not move pages without reading over their talk pages first. There has been a cosiderable debate over the title of AIDS conspiracy theories, and no consensus formed over a page change. If you have determined that the move is either likely to be uncontroversial, or you've discussed it and a consensus is formed, then it's OIK to amke the move. Aftre a page move it is the responsibility oif the mover to correct double-redirects. (for example: Talk:Alternative theories about the origin of AIDS) I'm sure you were being bold and proceeding with good intentions. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. -Willmcw 01:22, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

TD5[edit]

I deleted Tropical Depression Five. For one thing, it's a horribly imprecise name; for another, it breaks the standards we've established for the hurricane seasons over two years. We never have an article on a TD. Ever. Unless it happened to be some mindblowingly amazing TD that killed eight thousand people, and in that case it would probably be given a name for the hell of it. We keep everything in the season article until such time as an individual named storm warrants its own article. Cindy did not; Dennis did. Please ask before starting these thing. --Golbez 18:32, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Geology of the Moon[edit]

Hi, per your earlier nomination of the Geology of the Moon page, I made an attempt to fill in the topic to turn the page into an article of decent length and content. If you are interested, please have a look to see what else could be added or improved. Thanks. — RJH 15:00, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

Anton de Kom[edit]

What exactly is that page for? I've waited a couple of minutes to see if you would edit it but as it stands its a sub-sub-stub and falls under WP:CSD. Could you please either add to it or I will nominate it for deletion. Sasquatch′TalkContributions 21:30, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Your move of Template:Infobox Legislation[edit]

I noticed that you moved Template:Infobox Legislation to Template:Infobox AU Legislation. While I do not necessarily have a problem with a move, since many legal systems do not use Royal Assent, for example, I note that you did not discuss the move first. You have now broken several pages, which point to the wrong template. It is customary practice to correct links when you move a page. Luckily there are few articles, and I can change them myself. In the future I would appreciate it if you fix links after you move pages. Thank you. --bainer (talk) 10:38, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

ACOTW[edit]

I had completely forgotten about that! You'll have to forgive me, I just became an admin, so my wiki-life just became a lot more complicated and busy this week. Wikipedia:Millionth topic pool[edit]

I rolled back your edits to this, as you not only blatently disregarded the limit of three votes, but also changed the limit so that future editors would not know about it. I should perhaps have reverted rather than rolled back, but your edits were vandalism. Please reapply the three edits which you think most valuable.-gadfium 05:17, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

Humble apologies, it wasn't you who changed the limit but an anon editing before you. My diff view rolled them together. I still request that you stick to the three vote limit.-gadfium 05:21, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
You're right, at the time it said "you may make up to 1,000,000 guesses". Revolución 19:09, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

{RfD} tags[edit]

Please don't remove {RfD} tags. The admin who closes the nomination (me, usually) will remove them if the page is kept. That's hot has been let run longer than normal because I wanted to get a good sample of opinion, since opinions on it were divided. 20:38, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!

Requests for unprotection[edit]

Currently, requests for page unprotection go on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. Take heed, your vandalism is bieng watched. TDC 02:06, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

List of political epithets[edit]

Hi there Revolucion. I have tried to insert a compromise wording on the 'National Socialists' section - the list seems to have a lot of edit wars going on, and I don't think your purpose would be best served by deleting sections, even if they are ridiculous, as it will give people reason to block your contributions. That said, the anon user who reverted you has a history of adding/removing material to fit a right-wing POV and disparage socialists/liberals (who s/he believes are the same thing). I personally think that whole page pretty much stinks - it's mostly a collection of terms coined by otherwise-illiterate right-wing bloggers in order to add some variety to their interchangeable rants about single mothers on welfare. See also Political correctness and Idiotarian. Feel free to hit me up via my talk page. Solidarity! illWill 22:38, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

Hello again. I think you might be editing a little too boldly on ...epithets. Your most recent edit substitutes a liberal claim for a conservative one, which I don't think will go down terribly well Maybe you should add some material back in. illWill 20:05, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Repliee Q1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Repliee Q1.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. WikiProject Anti-war[edit]

From your user page and edit history I thought you might be interested in joining the new wikiproject; WikiProject Anti-war. As a left-wing socialist you no doubt know that anti-war movments and ideas have had a massive influence on world politics esspecially since the launch of the "war on terror" and the global reaction to it. Events like the Febuary 15th biggest ever global day of demo's are historic in and of themselves and well deserving of more attention then they currently recive on wikipedia. Also the project will aim to get rid of any redundent repeted information through unifiy the different different anti-war pages. Some right-wingers have allready shown interest in the project (though have not joined yet) so hopefully we can achive ballance and NPOV. Hope you chouse to become involved. --JK the unwise 15:28, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Kaysar[edit]

I used Big Mistake! in keeping with the tone of the show. I also put it in primarily to make the piece much more readable because it is a lengthy point by point tracking of what happened and for that reason I would like it to survive.

Also, parading around shirtless and clearly a body builder is an apt description of Eric. I'm not so committed to this, but there may be some disagreement about your not thinking he is hunky or maybe its sexist to say so.

One web site is collecting "2,000,000" to give to Kaysar and his team....

Do you agree with my take on Kaysar as a great player? But how on earth could he have given up in the Pressure Cooker? I don't see any advantage.Kyle Andrew Brown 14:56, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

Autobiography (Ashlee Simpson album) FAC[edit]

I noticed that you voted object on the featured article nomination for Autobiography (Ashlee Simpson album) a few days ago. Your edit to the Autobiography article replaced pop rock with pop, which leads to a disambiguation page ([[pop music|pop]] is what should be written). Flag of Mississippi images[edit]

I am sorry to inform you that Image:Us-ms!01.gif and Image:Us-ms-61.gif will have to be deleted. 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season - Listing Greek Names[edit]

I disagree with the move to "speculation".

That was one of the few discussions that was according to the purpose of the discussion page, namely, to discuss development of the main wiki page. Discussion about the likelihood of getting into Greek names is speculation. Discussion about how to present Greek names on the wiki page is not.

Help on Jacksoville article[edit]

I really appreciate the work you've help do to the Jacksonville article. Perhaps you could put it on the list of those you've helped on your user page. Anyway, you've probably noticed I'm helping out, too; this is my first big undertaking and I am grateul for the help. In case you didn't see, I'm getting it peer reviewed. Someone suggested putting the history section in to a seperate article. I basically cut and paste (you can't move sections) the history to the new article with a talk page notice saying so. However, the history in the main article now needs to be summarized. I did the same with Famous natives of Jacksonville, Florida. I'll try to help out, but this needs attention from both of us. Or, if you diagree with the idea, revert it. I'd prefer you didn't though. Keep up the good work; I'll try to do the same. HereToHelp talk 23:01, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Do NOT remove sources without comment[edit]

In this edit to Ixchel, you removed a mention of a source without any explanation or comment. This is utterly unacceptable; it makes it harder for other editors to identify the source of text, which is critical in understanding how to improve the material. While the citiation was badly formatted and not complete, it was more than what you added. Even if you need to remove it, it is critical that you at least put a edit summary like "removed badly formatted source citation" - so people can tell what you are doing. Please DO NOT remove sources without explanation. Thanks! JesseW, the juggling janitor 18:27, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Conscription Map.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Conscription Map.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.

It looks like this is made from our stock world map so it's up to you to show what data sources you used and what license you put it into (as long as it works with the original blank map). Thanks. --gren ??? 07:13, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Revert[edit]

I reverted your edits because you deleted large chunks of text without explanation. User:Zoe|(talk) 00:41, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Put your explanation on the article Talk page and I'll be happy. User:Zoe|(talk) 00:58, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Dora Track[edit]

Your Image:Dora track.gif is about to be rightly deleted because it has no source information. This looks like a TWC or Wunderground image that we cannot use. Jdorje 21:07, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Well I'm not the one that's going to delete it; I just noticed it and since I agree Dora needs a track I thought I'd mention it to you. You can take a look at User:Jdorje/Tracks which has lots of tracks...but probably not a good one for Dora yet. Sometime in the next few weeks I will upload a track image for every Atlantic hurricane we have an article for...and sometime after that I hope to upload a track image for *every* hurricane to use in the season files. However for hurricane articles I think it's much better to have a picture in the infobox rather than the track...so the track can go into the storm history section...as I have done with Hurricane Mitch and numerous other storm articles. So if you can find another PD Dora image that would be awesome (and of course Dora isn't the only storm that needs an image). Jdorje 06:42, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Err, and see [2] for the tracks I've uploaded so far. Jdorje 06:49, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

La Gran Sabana[edit]

I've just marked La Gran Sabana as needing translation into english. As you were the author of this version, maybe you can help? SeventyThree(Talk) 01:48, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

Page deletion[edit]

I page which is part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Anti-war (of which you are listed as a member) is up for deletion. It is The Left and Opposition to War, you can see its entry at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Left and Opposition to War. It would be helpfull if you could add your opinion.--JK the unwise 12:54, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Image request for marijuana legal situation map[edit]

Your image request caught my interest and I was wondering if you could elaborate. Specifically, what classifications would you like to have included? And do you know of a good source for this information? (Please reply on my talk page) —JwandersTalk 19:23, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Jax 1893.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jax 1893.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

--Agnte 21:27, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

What?[edit]

What are you talking about? I haven't vandalised a single page since I was unblocked. Rafterman 03:14, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Featured articles in other language[edit]

Hi, while Template:FAOL was on tfd, you suggested that this template should be at babel-style to be less space-consuming. I've started a conversation with User:Silence and we agreed that we create 3 levels

  1. Non-featured article that nonetheless has lots of content that would benefit our article
  2. Featured article with at least a little content that would benefit our article
  3. Featured article that has lots of content that would benefit our article

I would like to see your opinon about that, so we could imlement the new design. I've created a test page here. Another thing, do you think that we should write a template for each language in this language (like Babel templates), or we should keep it all in English? Thank you. Wikipedia Anti-war project, push to get a featured article b4 Xmass[edit]

February 15, 2003 anti-war protest, an article which is part of the WikiProject Anti-war of which you are listed as a member, has been recently rated A-class by the Version 1.0 Editorial team (see here) This means that it is considered to be of good quality. The Anti-war project has yet to achieve a featured article but with a little pushing I feel we could get this article up to FA standards. To this end I have put the article up for peer review, if you could help make this a brilliant article that would be much appreciated. Please give your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/February 15, 2003 anti-war protest/archive2 or on the articles talk page. Fingers crossed for a FA before Xmass.--JK the unwise 13:02, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Socialist stubs[edit]

Hiya. I've proposed a socialist/social democratic stub category, and it's currently up for discussion. I'd much appreciate your thoughts on it. The discussion is taking place here. Thanks. aliceinlampyland 13:14, 30 November 2005 (UTC).

James Connolly : Irish Socialist and Nationalist[edit]

I see you changed the description of James Connolly from Irish Nationalist to Irish Socialist. I think you should have changed it to Nationalist and socialist. Remember he was very much involved in the fight for Home Rule - he certainly wanted to see a Socialist Ireland, but there was a strong element of nationalism too. Few of the men he died with in Easter 1916 were strong socialists like him, so it is obvious that he was willing to ally himself with others on the side of Irish nationalism, as well as socialism.

If you don't change it to Nationalist and Socialist, I will...
