Her album articles aren't in very bad shape at all. It shouldn't be hard to take some info from there about the music, themes, etc of her albums and put it in the lead. Right now it's blah. If you don't want to do my suggestion, you don't have it; it's just that - a suggestion. I just think it would be a much more accurate portrayal of her recordings. Yeah, it will definitely take some work. I'm not sure on how a list of characters would go over, but you should probably look for some examples, since all articles are required to have a good lead. Picture of Carey on a song by Lopez[edit]

Are you even going to explain why a picture of Mariah Carey is placed prominently on a song by Jennifer Lopez? Or does the reader have to work that out? Currently this article shows more of Carey, who had absolutely nothing to do with it, than Lopez. Can you also explain why we even need this picture? Why L.A. Reid and not Pitbull, or Redone, or Casper Smart, or even Ryan Seacrest? Hello, that L.A. picture is the only one that is uploaded on Wikipedia; it is used on his own article. Mariah has nothing to do with it. It says specifically in the caption: "(right)", meaning he is the one on the right. The background info is—or will be when completely expanded—mostly focused on the whole L.A. signs J.Lo to Island then leaves 6 months later to join her former label, in which she then rejoins. It is an important part of the song's background. There are no available pictures of RedOne or Casper on Wikipedia; and more than one more picture can be placed in the article, for Pitbull. How about cropping it? Right now I imagine most people's reaction on viewing the page is "What's Carey doing there? I thought J.Lo sang this?" Right now she is the elephant in the room that the article doesn't even mention. I don't feel my understanding of the article subject is added to by this photo, if anything it confuses it. Reid's significance to the song is not explained by having a picture of him standing next to another singer, who had nothing to do with it. I also think his significance to the song overall is being over-played. Do we know he played any part in it, or has his involvement simply changed which label it appears on? He may be playing a key role Lopez's career, that should be mentioned in Jennifer Lopez's article, but is he really that important to this particular song? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:33, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Background and conception aren't really the same. Background is the information about what happened before the song was formed. Yes, it would. When the CD single/album comes out, we can get who recorded it and when, etc. to add to the section as well. LOL IKR about the copying. Hi. I'm not sure about this "accolades" thing.. if see you go here an accolade is only something that she has won, and nominations don't count as accolades. It doesn't really matter if its shorter. Sorry, i'm not a bit..hm i don't agree with the title. Notice e.g. here Janet (album) when they list accolades, they only list the awards won. Please get back to me. I just wanna make the meaning of the word clear :) As in her being named "world's most beautiful women" in a accolade (honor) but Grammy nomination isn't because she didn't win anything.. Right now it's lunch break and I'm home for lunch. If you can, can you separate the film and music awards again? Have "film awards" and "music awards" as the second headings, and the award shows as third headings? Also, about the infobox, I did it like that (just in case you were wondering) because I noticed there are two separate infoboxes for musicians and actors. You could have simply left the user a simple message on their page. I get that you're upset with the user's disruptive edits (believe me, I've had disputes with him in the past), but what he's doing really isn't vandalism. {{Uw-nor1}} could work perfectly fine in this case, and if he passes four levels you can report him for it. This has nothing to do with original research. The problem is the user is taking information that is properly sourced and replacing it information from vague or non-reliable sources. Once or twice is understandable but reverting edits due to lack of knowledge is not original research multiple times, is disruptive editing. As Wikipedia states, "Disruptive editing is a pattern of editing that may extend over a long time or many articles, and disrupts progress towards improving an article or building the encyclopedia. Disruptive editing is not usually considered vandalism, but vandalism can be disruptive". Thus, I used the appropriate template. I got that image from forums, maybe it's like a press release from the label. I think the song is hardly an official single. It's not qualified to be a "single", as there's no commercial release (separate digital download/CD single). British people can only download it from MDNA tracklist. WikiCup 2012 April newsletter[edit]

Round 2 of this year's WikiCup is over, and so we are down to our final 32, in what could be called our quarter-finals. The two highest scorers from each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers overall, have entered round 3, while 30 participants have been eliminated. Pool B's Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) remains our top scorer with over 700 points; he continues to gain high numbers of points for his good articles on The X-Files, but also Millennium and other subjects. He has also gained points for a good topic, a featured list, multiple good article reviews and several did you knows. Pool E's Scotland Casliber (submissions) was second, thanks primarily to his biology articles, with Pool H's New York City Muboshgu (submissions) coming in third, with an impressive 46 did you knows, mostly on the subject of baseball. Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both scored over 600 points. Pools E and H proved our most successful, with each seeing 5 members qualify for round 3, while Pools C and D were the least, with each seeing only 3 reach round 3. However, it was Pool G which saw the lowest scoring, with a little under 400 points combined; Pool H, the highest scoring group, saw over triple that score.

65 points was the lowest qualifying score for round 3; significantly higher than the 11 required to enter round 2, and also higher than the 41 required to reach round 3 last year. However, in 2010, 100 points were needed to secure a place in round 3. 16 will progress to round 4. In round 3, 150 points was the 16th highest score, though, statistically, people tend to up their game a little in later rounds. Last year, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 points were needed. Guessing how many points will be required is not easy. We still have not seen any featured portals or topics this year, but, on the subject of less common content types, a small correction needs to be made to the previous newsletter: File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg, our first featured picture, was the work of both Vanuatu Matthewedwards (submissions) and United Kingdom Grandiose (submissions), the latter of whom has also gone on to score with File:Map of the Battle of Guam, 1944.svg. Bonus points also continue to roll in; this round, England Ealdgyth (submissions) earned triple points for her good articles on William the Conqueror and the Middle Ages, Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both earned triple points for their work on Western Jackdaw, now a good article, Michigan Dana Boomer (submissions) earned triple points for her work on lettuce and work by Bavaria Stone (submissions) to ready antimony for good article status earned him triple points. United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) managed to expand Vitus Bering far enough for a did you know, which was also worth triple points. All of these highly important topics featured on 50 or more Wikipedias at the start of the year.

An article on the WikiCup in the Wikimedia Blog, "Improving Wikipedia with friendly competition", was posted at the end of April. This may be of interest to those who are signed up to this newsletter, as well as serving as another way to draw attention to our project.
