Are you in?[edit]

Are you competing in the Bacon Challenge?--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 02:18, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Yep, I decided I'll give it a shot. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:19, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Cool. Would you like to be identified as American or Iranian?--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 02:24, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Hmm...American would be good, as I was born here. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Have you started anything for the Bacon Challenge already? Report it [[1]] to get your first points. I'll fill in the points table section later once several reports have been made. --Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 18:06, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Great News!!![edit]

Bacon materializer

Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

thanks for the message[edit]

I'll try to add my signature more often. And thank your for telling me about the reference desk. In truth, I thought the article focused to much on evolution, but didn't really say much in terms of natural predators, habits, etc. I was hoping the mysterious flamingo experts would take a hint and add things like that to the article. Maybe there is a better way for me to suggest such a thing? ha ha I also am trying to figure out how to add references, but I can't seem to figure out the instructions provided...tragic. Nishanoire (talk) 03:08, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Yep, no problem. I also did notice that upon looking at the page; it is quite odd that information like the isn't readily available in the article, especially for such a popular subject. You can always suggest it on the talk page. Who knows, I may expand the article a little as soon as I have time. As for references, it isn't too hard once you get the hang of it. To really help you out and make it easier, you can go to "my preferences" by clicking on the link in the upper right, then click on "Gadgets" (the last link in the tabs list), and finally enable the tool called refTools. It will add a button to the edit bar, which makes adding references easy by making a form where you simply fill out all the information (URL, author, date, etc.). ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:15, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
You can also alwaysdo it manually. Since you seem to be wanting to cite a website, you can just fill out the below template with the proper information and add it to the article (not all information spaces need to be filled out; URL, title, and publisher should be just fine). Also, references are added after sentences in the article itself, not in the references section at the bottom of the article. The references added throughout the article are automatically linked to at the bottom.
<ref>{{cite web |url= |title= |author= |date= |work= |publisher= |accessdate=2009-12-08}}</ref> ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:24, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Ah! I see, thanks! Someone else used the same source, so I'm happy! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nishanoire (talkcontribs) 03:36, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Good job![edit]

You now have a mark on the scoreboard. Not only that, you are the first and only participant so far to score in the copy-editing category. Also, thanks for catching that typo on the WikiCup page. Cheers.--Sky Attacker the legend reborn... 04:12, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and no problem. I'll try to make some more content-ful contributions when I've got more time. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 16:57, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

If you're willing to take the reins on the WikiBacon Cup for a while that would be great SuperHamster. I'm glad that SkyAttacker seems to be okay. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Take care and enjoy yourself. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and you too =) ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:55, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Karen Franklin[edit]

Please can you post the content into my userspace so i can ifx it up and re-post it. It took me about 2hrs to do the citations and everything, now it's gone.Andrewjlockley (talk) 01:48, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I cannot restore deleted content, as I am not an administrator. You will need to ask an admin. The user who deleted Karen Franklin was 2over0, so you can ask them on their talkpage. However, I'd like to advise you that the topic you want to write about may not meet the notability guidelines for people. You may want to read the guidelines for notability pertaining to what Karen Franklin specializes in. If you still feel that Franklin would be notable enough, you can go ahead and work on it again after the page is restored to your userpace. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:15, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

The Great Wikipedia Dramaout[edit]

Hi! As you have expressed an interest in the initial The Great Wikipedia Dramaout, you're being notified because we are currently planning another one in January! We hope to have an even greater level of participation this time around, and we need your help. If you're still interested please sign up now at Wikipedia:The Great Wikipedia Dramaout/2nd. Thanks, and Happy Holidays! JCbot (talk) 04:43, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up about the edit warring "report". I wonder if I can get your uninvolved opinion? I've no interest in bringing the dispute here but I'm considering an ANI or WQA report on the IP. In a dispute in which I wasn't involved, I would have done it by now but, in your opinion, does that make me look like I'm filing a retaliatory report or do I have a case? Thanks in advance, HJMitchell You rang? 20:45, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Trying to look at the situation neutrally, I believe both of you are equally liable for the edit war. After the first reversion, the situation should have been discussed without either of you undoing each other's edits during the period. If you hadn't reverted's edits numerous times, then I believe a report would be plausible due to acting out and not explaining their edits very well, even though their original edit was constructive. But because of reverting each other's edits with no constructive discussion, I believe you are both at fault. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:59, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice. I'll take it into consideration before I decide what to do. Any idea how long it might take for an admin to process the EW report? HJMitchell You rang? 21:12, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't take long, the dispute isn't complicated. Maybe a few more minutes, maybe an hour, depends on who's online. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:14, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Editor Review: done[edit]

User talk

I have done an editor review for you at Wikipedia:Editor review/SuperHamster/Archive/2.

Perhaps you could consider doing a review of another editor? It takes a bit of time (reviews can take anywhere from about 15 minutes up to 2 hours, depending on how many contributions the editor has made, where they have contributed, etc).

The ones marked with a * are those editors who have not been reviewed yet — if you want to review one of these, make sure you remove the asterisks in the parts indicated!

If you have not done a review before, you might feel more comfortable giving a second review to an editor — this will show you an example of a review that has been done, and show you the kinds of things that can be commented on.

I hope that you find the review useful. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about it.

Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 00:10, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Bacon thanks you[edit]

Thanks for taking up the scoring duties. Bacon thanks you...Geoff Who, me? 17:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

It is the bacon that should receive the thanks, otherwise I wouldn't have such a delicious subject to take over scoring duties with. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Good job, but I don't know what you have done to the notes numbering, they don't tie up any more with the person they are supposed to relate to. I'm a "him" by the way, not a "her". SpinningSpark 22:14, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, sorry about that, and thanks for pointing that out. Looks like I changed the first set of numbers to match in the table, but forgot to change the numbers appearing below the table. It was around 11 PM or so that night so my mind wasn't in its sharpest condition ;) I'll fix it ASAP. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:38, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

The snail article Euglandina singleyana[edit]

Hi Superhamster, Thanks so much for your work in fixing up this new snail article. I don't know if you are particularly interested in snails, but just in case you are, I am sending you this invitation:

Wikiproject GastropodsGuilfordiayoka.jpg
I've noticed your edits on pages relating to Gastropods; perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Gastropods?
If you would like more information, please visit the project page or the project talk page.

Very best wishes to you and a Happy New Year 2010, Invertzoo (talk) 14:10, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I never really looked at myself as having a particularly strong interest in snails (I stumbled across the article while doing new page patrol and saw that it needed some cleaning up), but now that I've got an invitation, why not, I'll join. Seems like an interesting topic enough that I could learn about. Thanks, and have a great New Years yourself =) ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 16:24, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

A Barnstar!

A very big WELCOME to WikiProject Gastropods for you SuperHamster, a new member! We are very happy that you decided to join the Project! Thank you. Please leave me a message if you have any snail-related questions or of course you can leave a message on the Project talk page here [2]. There are many useful things you can do on the project, even if you are not a snail expert. Best wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 16:25, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Assessing and other stub work[edit]

Wow, you are so kind to volunteer to help out with the assessing! That would be great! Would you like to start on the letter M maybe? M for SuperHaMster? The Ms start here: [3].

1. And yes, you are correct that in our Project, generally speaking, species articles are of low importance and genus/genera are of mid importance, family and above of high importance.

2. As for the taxonomy in the taxobox, usually the part that needs updating, because it is out-of-date (or missing altogether), is the part between Class = Gastropoda and the Family = level. The easiest way to tackle that is to click on the name of the Family which should take you to the family article, and then you can cut and paste what is in that taxobox in those ranks, and slot it in. Oh and the fossil families sometimes don't have anything at all between class and superfamily but that is OK, leave them like that.

3. Also there are a bunch of small edits that I do (when needed) to fix up a stub article a bit. One thing is to put an extra line in, before the stub tag, at the bottom of the article to space it down a bit. I add a snail-stub tag if there is no stub tag at all on the article page.

4. Another thing I do is: if it is a Genus article or a Species article that uses the Latin name as the title, I make sure that the article title is in italics.

5. Actually there's a lot more other things too, but I don't want to weigh you down with too much stuff at first. You can see a more detailed list of how to check and fix up a stub here: [4]

What I may do is make a demo for you on one of my user pages of a really rough stub, and show how I leave it once I am finished. I will drop you a note as soon as I have that up so you can look at it.

Please go ahead and see how you do on a few. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions at all. Thanks again! Invertzoo (talk) 18:25, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

OK, I set up a page where you can compare a really short non-fixed up stub with a fixed up version of it, here: [5]. You don't necessarily have to be as thorough as I was though. Best, Invertzoo (talk) 19:43, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for all the help, I'll check out the demo and will get started on some stub clean-up as time permits (I've got other matters to attend to). I already do most of the formatting tasks whenever I'm cleaning up a stub article, so I shouldn't have a problem with that. I'll need to get familiar with the taxobox and such, though. I'll be sure to ask you if I'm unsure of anything. Thanks again, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Mandarina aureola[edit]

I worked a little on Mandarina aureola, everything all right? I noticed that the order was also included in the unranked section in the taxobox, so I just want ahead and removed it. There also seems to not be a species authority, as far as the source goes. Also, what should happen with the conservation status? The site says its endangered, but to what level? Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:48, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

I just took a look and what you did was really great, thanks so much. If you take a look at the article now you will see that I have added some links in the first sentence and did a couple more small tweaks. I also managed to find the authority and date for this species by doing a google search using the Latin name Mandarina aureola. Then after that I searched for the name Chiba in this resource [6]. As it turned out I had to look under Tiba, and then I got the full name so I could make the authority into a proper red link. Someon else can start that biography article, I'm not going to do that right now. Anyway now the article is as ready as it needs to be for the next year or two I think! Best, Invertzoo (talk) 21:41, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

P.S. You made me laugh with your other matters to attend to, me too, I always have to find time for pressing concerns. Invertzoo (talk) 22:58, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, it's a good game =) Anyway, thanks for all your help. I'll try to work on some more stubs over the next few days and see how it goes. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 23:07, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Dear SuperHamster,

Our vision for Wikipedia is one of beauty, natural symmetry and light.

I wish you a Happy New Year, everything good for your family, your loved ones and yourself, peace and joy for all the people of the world. I also wish a joyful and peaceful expansion for Wikipedia, may it bring helpful, generous, and peaceful information to everyone in the world.
All the very best from Invertzoo (talk) 19:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar[edit]

My Farmville stuff....[edit]

I appreciate you talking to me before just arbitrarily deleting my stuff like a Wikinazi might do.

Here's the thing: If you go to, pay them $27, they send you a couple pdfs which contain what I am talking about. So.. how can I reference that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by WaxonWaxov (talkcontribs) 05:15, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm...what a ripoff. Anyway, I apologize, as it's late right now and I need to head to bed, so I cannot answer your question to its full extent. I'll get back to your ASAP (basically, after breakfast) with an answer that would have been better then a quick one that I could throw together right now. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 05:28, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm back. So if you want to cite a statement, you need to find a third-party site/book/other publication that covers the statement in a neutral point of view (for example, a CNN article covering Michael Jackson's death would be a third party and neutral source). You can always find something through a quick Google search. I searched for a long while, but couldn't find anything at all that covers or mentions that these sites are scams. Considering that it hasn't brought up any attention at all throughout the webs, it probably isn't notable enough to be worth mentioning in the article. Even so, the guides aren't exactly scams; as you mentioned in the article, they do have some tips and tricks as to how to play the game, even if they aren't so "secret." Since it hasn't been brought up as being a scam, I think it best to remove the particular controversial topic from the article, as it doesn't have any attention from the media. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:53, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Be careful since it is alpha/beta software. Rich Farmbrough, 01:13, 3 January 2010 (UTC).

8, or 6? Just double checking, Cirt (talk) 00:23, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Heh, I just realized that I gave you eight points for creating a good article instead of six. I converted the extra two points into bonus points for creating the first good article for the cup ;) You deserve it for the work you put into it. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:25, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

sorrey about this but could you please make a page for the Sony Dash what was announced at CES 2010 thanks A Candela (talk) 02:57, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

No reason to be sorry :) I'll see about making an article on the subject. The topic may not meet guidelines for inclusion, particularilly because it has not been released yet. If I can dig up enough sources that would make the subject notable enough for inclusion, and wouldn't fall under being a "crystal ball," then I'll see about making an article when I've got time. Hi. I don't believe this page qualified for G3, which is for introduction of deliberately false material: it seems like a well-meaning but misguided attempt to write an article about a deeply non-notable neologism. I've PRODded it instead. Cheers, Olaf Davis (talk) 17:12, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for informing me. I tried looking up anything on the subject before tagging it, but couldn't find anything. Makes sense though, probably should have PRODed it. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 20:26, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
