Hey I dont know if this is where I am suppose to leave a message but I'm new to this. I'm interested in being adopted and working on a fairly large project. I have already made posts but the accounts have been deleted and am looking for major help in becoming a better wikipedia editor. The project is working on the MTV Canada Host profiles. Are you interested? please post back on my talk page. Jamierush (talk) 18:40, 4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamierush (talkcontribs) 18:41, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Great! The only thing is I dont use IM only MSN. I can download it in this case. Have a save flight home and I assume I'll speak to you on monday. I will most likely be working on this during the day at work for work. Jamierush (talk) 19:09, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Jamie

Also I've asked a few other people to adopt me. Can I have more then one graudian or does that usual conflict and lead to wikipedia explosion? Jamierush (talk) 19:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Jamie

Hi. Include your objection to the Gotbaum incident in the Talk:Phoenix_Sky_Harbor_International_Airport page. You put it in my discussion page, which I'm not against, but I doubt anyone will find it there.

I am truly sorry for changing the info. My daughter got on and thought it would be funny. However, it is not. Thank you.

Manil Suri

It has been noted in the January/February 2007 profile of Manil Suri that he is, in fact, gay. I have added this information to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 01:41, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Kim Bauer

I didn't make that edit to the Kim Bauer article. I was attempting to remove some vandalism that someone placed there calling her a "slut".Angelriver (talk) 20:17, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Response left on your talk page. I stand by my reversion; you reverted to a version that was still vandalized. Tanthalas39 (talk) 01:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

My apologies. I thought you wrote that I vandalized the page. `'Míkka>t 20:24, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Who Put the Bomp

I didn't add the part about the angel's rectum, I just moved it from the "trivia" section where it was prior to my edit. (But that parody does clearly refer to that) Gr8white (talk) 02:28, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia Nazis

How the hell can you say my contributions weren't constructive? Assy uses one-liners all the time, and shoots someone in the kneecaps in every episode. Plus, I fail to see how "farting all the time" is a cop stereotype. This is the kind of shit that's wrong with Wikipedia. You should be chasing down vandals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

2006 State of the Union Address

Hi, are you joking sending me the following message?

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to 2006 State of the Union address, did not appear to be constructive [to whom??] and has been reverted or removed [by whom??]. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Could you please be more precise?

Thanks in advance, and best wishes, <KF> 20:53, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Added comment to KF's talk page. No, I was not kidding, clear example of an inappropriate edit. Tanthalas39 (talk) 21:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
"Clear violation of Wikipedia's policies of no original research and verifiability"? Calm down, and tag the Jay Bennish article. My edit was a copy and paste job from there, verbatim. How can you check on the appropriateness of several edits per minute? <KF> 21:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
No reply then? Best wishes, <KF> 23:57, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer, and all the best, <KF> 18:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Page history of Anthony Aston

As you presumably figured out, it's a good idea to understand page history and look at some old revisions before drawing conclusions about vandalism by logged-in editors. Also, things like the 1911EB tag are extremely rare to see on bogus page creations, their presence is a strong hint that the page has a legitimate revision somewhere in its history. Although I don't normally like to whack talk page edits, the note you left on mine is potentially very confusing (took me a little while to figure out what had happened, bureaucrats not often being fingered as creators of nonsense articles, ha ha), so I'm thinking that might be one to remove, if you're agreeable. Re: Warnings

Hi there. I occasionally bump into you while on vandal patrol, and have a question. Although I'm experienced enough (2600+ edits) to use the tools appropriately, I was wondering if you had some sort of system you use on the level of warning you dole out. I sort of use a subjective approach - if it's innocent enough and the IP (as 99% of these come from unregistered users) doesn't have that many previous warnings, I'll kind of go through the motions of general, caution, etc. However, if the vandalism is egregious enough (and especially if it's to a living bio), I might get harsh (as in a higher warning level right off the bat) or even just give an only warning. Is there any documentation on how to do this, or do you think my approach is appropriate and nothing for me to be concerned about?

Thanks for any advice! Tanthalas39 (talk) 00:50, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Your approach is fine. See also Wikipedia:VandalismGurch 00:53, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Be careful when tagging for speedy deletion!

It looks like you tagged ABCDE for speedy deletion because it was patent nonsense, which it was. But it was nonsense only because a vandal had blanked it and replaced it, so you could have reverted it instead. Worse, an admin came along, forgot to check the page history, and deleted the page; I only noticed this (and restored it) by accident.

It's not really your fault that the admin didn't check, and it certainly is helpful when Wikipedians tag patent nonsense, so I don't want to discourage you. But checking the page history is usually a good idea, and I wanted to let you know. —Toby Bartels (talk) 20:58, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

You are correct, and thank you for pointing it out. The curious part is that I've warned other users for doing this same thing! Oh well, thanks again for keeping me straight. Tanthalas39 (talk) 00:23, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Sherrill Milnes

How do I cite my materials....I am a personal friend of Sherrill's what would you like, your info is INCORRECT, he no longer works at Northwestern. If you want a citation look on the faculty website and find out for yourself. He also lives in Tampa and is the Artistic Director of the Tampa Bay Opera House, check their website for a citation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 09:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, to cite your materials, see WP:CITE. Being a personal friend and merely "knowing" something isn't appropriate, see Wikipedia's policy of no original research. Remember, this is not MY information that is incorrect; please don't think that I am questioning your knowledge of Sherill Milnes. I am merely upholding Wikipedia's standard of verifiability. If you have a reliable third party who can verify your information, don't merely tell ME - go ahead, add the information, and cite it! Let me know if I can help you out any further. You may want to create an account, too! Tanthalas39 (talk) 18:16, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

mosquito coast

hey tanthalas39,

got your email about the citing of sources. my bad. of the three things i listed the first was from the documentary on the DVD which i just finished watching, the second was from an entertainment weekly article (unfortunately it was years ago so i can't site the issue so that's a valid deletion. the third is just interesting trivia that can be proven on any site with a cast list for LAST CRUSADE.

i know some frown on stating trivia but that last bit i think is interesting since the two actors have worked together previous playing relatives and then playing the same character four years later. it isn't like the trivia when people tell you jermaine jackson and john carpenter share the same birthday (although they have nothing in common).

if you can add what you feel worthy back in i'd appreciate it. you seem tobe better at this than i am. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:57, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

At this point I just wanted to say "hello." I'm retired & live in Oro Valley & am thinking of contributing to Wikipedia but haven't done anything yet. Still trying to find my way around.

I saw your article on Oracle State Park. Maybe I can help with that some time in the future. Maybe a map at the top would be nice?

My only comment at this point on the content is that the list at the bottom of state parks in southern AZ doesn't seem to include Catalina State Park. I'm not sure, though, where to fix that list, so I didn't mess with it.

Hoping to work with you in the future.

Bobby Jindal is Caucasian but has dark skin.

I have proof and I am looking at the atlas. I thought I did the reference right and he is still listed as non-white. The media is reporting this wrong.--Ds338537 (talk) 22:27, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I listed everything in the reference that I saw in the Atlas from author to page number and copyright. What exactly was cited wrong?--If my atlas is incorrect, then George Bush and I are black which I know to be incorrect. Ds338537 (talk) 22:48, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Can you show me how it should have been referenced? I thought I corrected it but the guy from Texas threw it out. Thanks.--Ds338537 (talk) 23:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Sonoran Desert Toad

Hi Dan - I'm Wirykuta - my name is Robert and I live in Phoenix, too.

I believe I can help you with the toad page and perhaps you can help get my information on the page in a way that keeps you satisfied.

But first, what is your connection to Bouncing Bear Botanicals?

So that you can see where I'm coming from, many years ago I created the pages now being hosted here: and here:

I have no interest in the toad really these days, but what got my attention was the sentence "There is no current federal law or legislation which prohibits the selling or distribution of Bufo alvarius." and a link at the bottom to which is just another of the many pages produced by Bouncing Bear Botanicals, people who have been selling this toad quite illegally for many years. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people wanting and having their very own toad, but let's be honest about the law. First of all, the toad's venom contains bufotenine which is a Schedule I Controlled Substance and people have been arrested for the possession of B. alvarius as recently as two months ago:, and let's not forget Bob Shepard and his wife:

Additionally, the Arizona Department of Game and Fish is really clear about the law in AZ. See: "An individual shall not... export any live wildlife from the state; 3. Transport, possess, offer for sale, sell, sell as live bait, trade, give away, purchase, rent, lease, display, exhibit, propagate, stock, or release live wildlife within the state..."

I can almost guaranty that Bouncing Bear's toads come from AZ because B. alvarius hasn't been found in CA in years and NM doesn't have much of a population to speak of - and it's HIGHLY unlikely anyone would risk trying to bring them in from Mexico.

The information I tried to add to the page regarding the law in New Mexico came from a phone conversation I had with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish many years ago, and the law in California is clear: It is a misdemeanor to possess B. alvarius in California. I'll see if I can find the citation for California.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for keeping things clean on the toad page. I had always left Wikipedia alone because for a long time, the misinformation on the toad page in the early days did a good job of keeping people away from the toad. But now that someone's going to get serious about maintaining the site, it should be done right. But, again, what is your connection to Bouncing Bear Botanicals? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wirykuta (talkcontribs) 04:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Reversions

Please take a closer look what you are reverting to/from with Mwbutu Atuna. I'm trying to get it deleted. Tanthalas39 (talk) 06:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

In each case I removed 150,000 bytes of "spam spam spam spam". Whether you're trying to get it deleted or not, I think you'll agree it's better without that than with it – Gurch 06:55, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I didn't make any edits. As this is a dynamic IP maybe someone else made the edits. Actually I do have an account-- maybe I was logged-out when I made the changes (like I am now)... BTW, I'm curious, how do I see the edits that I supposedly made? (talk) 03:30, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, I found it Apology. There was some vandalism and I didn't bother logging-in. (talk) 03:39, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Concerning Aliya-Jasmine Sovani

I've restored the article, but must admit I still don't see a chance that this will pass a 2nd AfD...but that's just my personal opinion. Bring this up at AfD yourself, I shall watch if you do so.....happy editing. Lectonar (talk) 16:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

That IP editor on Liquid breathing

Is certainly not a vandal in the classic sense. Just a good faith editor with an IP who is not doing a good job with the citations. But it's entirely possible it's somebody getting used to wikipedia who really has worked in the field. So don't WP:BITE and let's see how he learns. SBHarris 01:51, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Later, it looks like the guy is (claiming to be) T.H. Shaffer, who IS a major player in the field. If this really is him, we'd really have egg on our faces for blocking him as a vandal in a field where he's a known expert. So do NOT block this guy! SBHarris 01:53, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Even later. What say you now? I don't disagree that you're a very moderate editor. But take this as a note that occasionally you have to be a worker in the field yourself to sniff out the problem newbie IP user who is more than what he seems. And by the way, since you're looking to adopt new users, you might consider volunteering to adopt Shaffer. Patience! This is what good-faith older academic experts LOOK like when they show up as newbies, here on WP. The fact that they too-often get bitten before they have a chance to contribute, is almost getting to be a running joke in the "real world." WP:SOFIXIT. SBHarris 02:19, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

My recent edit for Comparison_of_wiki_farms was valid, in that the company in question, recently purchased by Google, does not offer the free service AFAIK. Re Cockapoo page: some people are allergic to things other than dander or hair, such as saliva. Hence a dog that is hypoallergenic to someone who suffers a dander allergy may not be to others. It may perhaps be better in this instance to err on the side of caution. (talk) 21:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
