Bot

It removed the template http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_Rath&diff=494890094&oldid=494788978 why? The template is supposed to stay there, the bot removed it within few hours when I inserted it in article, is that task even approved? What's the point of doing that. Hey Petrb, yes, it removes them after 12 hours with an edit summary giving an indication. It's an approved task; as WP:CET says, "The current event template may be used optionally to warn the editor or reader about the great flux of edits and the fast-changing state of the article, due to the fact that current events tend to get the most attention from editors. In such a case, the template is subject to removal when the event described is no longer receiving massive editing attention." tedder (talk) 15:01, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi WhiteWriter- you need to first create the rules page, which means finding search phrases. (e.g., belgrade, serbian, grocka, Čukarica and Cukarica, etc). Once you put them there, put it back on this list. Within a day or so you'll start getting results. This section explains how to create the rules. AlexNewArtBot log links

I don't know if this is important, except for people who are doing a new listing on this page and using an existing listing as an example. The individual links to "log" go to the old Alex log links that haven't been updated in a year. I corrected Texas and Hawaii to point to the TedderBot/NewPageSearch/*errors. I just corrected the Sociology one. The Women's History was one I corrected a couple of weeks ago. Although new, when Rich listed it on the AlexNewArtBot page, he must have copied another listing as an example. Help if you can, Tedder

User:AlexNewArtBot/TexasSearchResult On June 7, the bot picked up an additional 250 articles for the Texas project. And about 130 for the next. The hundreds of one-line articles being created by Thine Antique Pen and by Dipankan001 have absolutely nothing to do with Texas. The phenomenon is happening because they use Texas A & M as a source. It defeats the purpose of having that list if these kinds of edits are crowding the rest out. Is there a tweak you can do to the rules to cut down on this? Eye

Tbanks. It was a lens replacement. I've also had two laser surgeries in the other eye, both to repair a retinal tear. The lasered eye works quite well, and I think this one will be fine too. What doctors can do is truly amazing. With no treatment for either problem, I'd probably be close to blind in the first eye and heading that way in the second. With new glasses, I hope to be close to 20/20 again by August (knock on wood). I hope your transplants have solved the problem. Finetooth (talk) 21:06, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Ah, retinal tears and lens replacements. Good times. Apropos of lenses, I was just researching the new multifocal lenses- turns out, hardly any of the studies even test for independence from wearing glasses. Hi- I only removed one. I'm not disputing Samantha Shapiro. She has an article and appears to qualify. If not, WP:AFD is the forum for discussion on that. Heineman is another matter. The eighth round of MLB isn't a "high" draft pick, and not many university level players are considered notable. Please see WP:BASEBALL/N for very specific guidelines for notability (the general guidelines are at WP:BIO and WP:GNG. "Notable to me" is an arbitrary standard; see WP:PPOV for comments on how the personal yardstick can be difficult. This is why I mentioned creating an article on Heineman. For some reason it looked like you removed Shapiro as well - Looking back at the history, it's got it highlighted but it wasn't removed. My error. As for Heineman, I was looking at the criteria, specifically #3 under Amateur athletes. Heineman's been covered in ESPN, a national media source, but not to the degree that he seemed to deserve his own article. I can see how it's borderline though, so I've no further objection. Undoing changes at Pulte Homes

Hi, I see you undid my changes on Pulte Homes for sources not being reliable. Although I do follow you fully for that on Freerepublic.com I do have my doubts on the Youtube video (without any other comments made by 3rd parties that include this video embedded on their own website: didn't use those for that reason). Also their (small) fine and consent-agreement in South Carolina seems sound to me.(reference to that was already made inline in the article; just re-used it)

And as I'm not knowing the ins-and-outs I do want your opinion on the report http://poorlybuiltbypulte.info/20090309_PBBP.pdf which I wanted to add but then had a edit-conflict with you.

As I really don't want to start an edit-war with you, or anyone else, would like your opinion on this PDF report from Building Justitce/Poorly Built by Pulte. The website itself is not "neutral": that's what I can see; but the report seems quite sound.

Hi- first, be really careful of using the minor tag. It's probably enabled on your profile by default. See WP:MINOR.

Second, yes, I'm not claiming Pulte is a great company. It's just that sources need to be very reliable, especially in a case like this. "poorly built" might be usable as an external link, but it isn't a reliable source that can be used for a reference. Here's a discussion on using youtube: WP:NOYT.

I suspect if you search news archives and other very reliable sources you can find things- the South Carolina agreement is a good example. BTW, you can always use the 'point in time' history for things. For instance: here's the beginning of May. Articles stay for (7-10?) days, so you can look at a few every month and catch most of them. The sparkline sorta helps with that too. tedder (talk) 19:40, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

You are talking about User:AlexNewArtBot/ArchitectureSearchResult. It updated on 28 june and then missed a couple of days, but updated today (july 3). Missing a few days is normal- nothing to worry about. It's designed to avoid placing excess load on the Wikimedia servers, so it'll fail when things are going wrong. tedder (talk) 19:26, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Holy Land Rewrite

I included the original sources in the rewrite. They were incorporated in to the rewrite. The original article was very dated and originally poorly constructed. I did attempt to follow wiki guidelines for NPOV, but just added new copy, updated info on the park and a few new sources. If the article needs more improvement, please advise. It appears you've removed content- the Jewish reaction is most noticeable. And there is inclusion of information that isn't encyclopedic like the park hours and information in the lede, which makes me suspect you have a conflict of interest with the park. Tedderbot and Connecticut

Minor, but ironic. Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame, created on July 5 and which could not be more blatantly about Connecticut, never shows up on Tedderbot's runs under Connecticut. It has showed up elsewhere, the bot's run on Women's History and Good articles, for instance. I realize this is about the User:AlexNewArtBot/Connecticut that was written years ago. I have a question

I am not disagreeing with your action of removing a recent death tag from the Sister Boom Boom page, but since he only died Monday, two days ago - how can it be "stale?" I did read the instructions and since I placed the tag within hours of his death and the obituaries are only being published in major papers today, I still don't see how the tag got outdated. Hi- it was my bot that removes them under consensus from WP:CET. Basically, "recent" on Wikipedia means "frequently being edited". It isn't for anything that's ongoing (there are many ongoing events, fewer that are receiving massive edits at Wikipedia). By keeping the usage down, the list can be monitored. "Not notable"?!?

I don't mean to be a pain, but how is it that someone who runs a world-renowned program at an Ivy League institution "not notable"? Tim Vasen is very well-known, not only for his work at Princeton but also as a director in theatre. My understanding is that outright deletions of material are a violation of WP policy. Hi. The lists of individuals on Wikipedia (such as on city and school articles) are described using WP:NLIST. Specifically, the general consensus is that individuals listed as notable should meet Wikipedia's standards of encyclopedic notability. The easiest way to do this is to create the page for the individual. That page, of course, must meet the encyclopedic standards, but it provides a way to discuss the notability of the individual.

Second, "outright deletions of material are a violation of WP policy" has nothing to do with Wikipedia policy. It's the burden on the contributor to include reliable sources, and Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Hello. I appreciate the value of bots but it's kind of hard to discuss their edits with them. Could your bot be configured to not revisit pages (or at least for a long time) or to use a whitelist, where other editors can list pages to be skipped? Otherwise it edit wars without comment or discussion, and without respecting any guidelines (e.g., 3RR). I know the bot only has the best of intentions, but it's just not very good at collaborating. I apologize by responding here to your edit of my edit of the Meritage Homes page. I'm a novice and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to respond to you on my own talk page. It's probably an age/early onset thing. :-)

First, thanks for your welcome and guidance. I have a couple of comments/questions.

It's not clear to me why The Ripoff Report and ConsumeAffairs.com are not legitimate sources while newspapers are. These independent websites contain many complaints about Meritage's building quality and business practices, and they form a pattern. Of course, newspapers will never cover one-off complaints of this type since they're spread across multiple newspaper-markets and are not considered "newsworthy". You seem to have more faith in the accuracy of newspaper coverage than I do. Nevertheless, I will follow your advice and look for newspaper articles, but I'd appreciate it if you would reconsider your decision that the web sites I've cited are not legitimate sources.

Second, I want to bring to your attention that, without an addition like mine, the Meritage Homes page is nothing more than an advertisement. The only citation in the text is to its own web page, and that link is out-of-date. All other links are either to web pages that "document" that and there is such a thing as "real estate development" and there is a city called "Scottsdale, AZ". Other links describe what the Forbes 1000 and the S&P SmallCap Index are without documenting Meritage's claim that they are included in either. Trust them.

The link to the "All-Star Miracle Homes" Wikipedia page is just another advertisement for Meritage. None of the links on this page document that there is, in fact, such an entity, though I agree these Miracle Homes probably exist. The links on the Miracle Homes page, in turn, either go to touts of Meritage's local-market All-Star Miracle Homes or various institutions' and organizations' web pages that do not document Meritage's claims about the All-Star Miracle Homes. Note that this page cites no independent websites that verify Meritage's claims, much less any newspaper articles, apparently your gold standard of verification.

Finally, among the External Links, two are to Meritage's web and Twitter pages, hardly independent verification of anything; HousingNewsNetwork.com, simply a search engine which didn't turn up anything on Meritage when I tired it today; and financial information on Google and Yahoo.

Meritage has done nothing more than pile link on to link to make it APPEAR they've provided independent verification supporting their page. In fact, there's nothing there.

What can be done about this ?

Hi BMO, generally it's good to keep replies on the same page, but we can work from here now. That's fine.

The Meritage Homes article is in poor shape, but that's not an excuse to make it worse. Absent reliable sources, the primary source (company's website) is the only thing we have to use. See WP:EL for what should be on external links- just the official page, really. References should be verifiable, which means not self-published (like blogs), and from a source that is known for having editorial standards. Ripoff Report is basically a blog with user-generated content, so it isn't allowed (nor are reviews from Yelp allowed, for the same reason). Consumer Affairs appears to be the same thing- user-generated content. A good summary of the issue is here: Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything. This is why a source such as a newspaper or very well-regarded online news source is considered acceptable. Again, the article needs cleanup, but that's not an argument for using poor sources. tedder (talk) 18:11, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for you quick response. I suppose my point about the Meritage article is the same as yours: articles should be verifiable and not from self-published sources. Meritage's article is based solely on self-published sources such as its website, Twitter page and self-generated Miracle Homes promotional pages on Wikipedia; links to websites that provide no verification whatsoever to Meritage's claims, and two links to Meritage's stock data, also promotional by the way. It's hard to reconcile this with the article needing some "cleanup". Can you tell me why you believe the article is more than an unverified promotion for Maeritage?

In the meantime, I am finding the legal citation for a lawsuit filed against Meritage in the District Court of Travis County, Texas, that documents the allegations against them and articles that verify them as well.

Hi, yes, "Meritage" and a district court are primary sources, so they are better than nothing. It's better to have something like a newspaper article but that would help. Yes, You are right, the Meritage article is based on Meritage, nothing outside of their sources. I agree with you, it's promotional from their point of view. I never said I didn't agree with that. What I disagree with is how to improve it- as I've said, Ripoff Report doesn't count as improvement. Add some sources and I'll help improve it. This google search may help- there are a ton of press releases, but it looks like there might be a few interesting bits in there: "Meritage Homes ranks poorly in sustainability survey", talk of their profitability/sales, maybe more? tedder (talk) 21:07, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm glad you understand how the standards apply even if the page doesn't seem to meet the standards . Sometimes that's hard to explain. The page may be deleted, but it's better with someone who has more experience to do it. In other words, I'll do some research and perhaps delete it. Hello. I am not sure if I should post here or over at User:AlexNewArtBot. In any case, I notice that "Blinking colloidal nanocrystals" was not picked up and posted by the User:AlexNewArtBot/PhysicsSearchResult‎ for artcle alerts. FYI this article did start out as "Colloidal nanocrystals" but was moved to its present title. Would it be possible to post Blinking colloidal nanocrystals to the relevant search bot? In this case it would be physics and engineering. I also notice there are no links to this article from any project. Hi- did you see the instructions here? If they aren't clear, feel free to be bold and clarify it. I'd be glad to help on the sticky bits. Basically, you want to choose a feed name (User:AlexNewArtBot/Christian music), add your rules to it, and then add "Christian music" to User:AlexNewArtBot/Master. Put them at User:AlexNewArtBot/Christian music. Just create that page, and add keyword searches, one per line. You can try to make them match the format seen at other pages (User:AlexNewArtBot/Oregon, for example), and I'll try to help. The first /search/ (slashes denote them) is what you are giving points for. The searches after the comma "inhibit" the search. For instance, the Oregon folks like Portland, Oregon but don't want to see pages dealing with Portland Maine. That's the fourth line on that page. Don't worry about the fancy symbols ("\W" and "\w") for now. Once you start the page, ping me here and I'll help get it right. Is FFRF an atheist group?

Hi Tedder. First, thanks for comments and helping me understand the wiki-verse. I think the atheist group label for FFRF is incorrect. The group has two purposes A) to keep church and state separate (B) to "educate the public on matters of nontheism." I understand that Wikipedia should not just accept any group's self-identification, but atheist is a pretty narrow term. It also suggests that the members and employees are all atheists which is not true. The rejection of religion and religious dogma as a way of thinking is simply not atheism. Atheism is a lack of belief in god. Freethought on the other hand is a positive (as in standing for something and not the absence of something) definition that encompasses atheism, agnosticism, nontheism, and even state/church separation. "Freethought group" is a broader term that encompasses all of FFRF's stated goals and purposes whereas "atheist group" doesn't really encompass any. Hi CS. I completely understand that FFRF wants to be seen as more, as they are more than strong atheists. However, FFRF doesn't own their Wikipedia article, and Wikipedia articles are more about the common view of a term/organization/object/thing. Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view explains how pages should be worded fairly well; I'd encourage you to also read this essay: Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. If you want to go further than this, we should move this discussion to Talk:FFRF and then you can also post to Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard. Hi, thanks for the reminder. I'm crazy-busy, not even enough time to follow my watchlist, and I'm headed on vacation. There are two ways I can see to handle this- include AFC pages on each search feed, or to have a single page for AFC, with sections for category. I think the former would work better, as it integrates AFC pages into the main workflow. The negative is that it's harder for AFC folks to see all categories, as there are what, 100 searches? Need for a "Satellite Direct" article

Hi Tedder, I noted you deleted an attempt to setup a "Satellite Direct" article in March of 2011, and I commend you for that. Since I'm not an administrator, I haven't been able to see whatever "ad" was attempted by them back then, but I have no doubt that this "somewhat scuzzy" company was attempting to use Wikipedia as one of their advertising platforms for what I see as their very heavily "hyped up" and somewhat misleading advertising campaign.
Having said that, I have recently become a subscriber of theirs, and I do believe that their company isn't "total scuz". There is a certain element of value in their product, even though the value of their product is not very well represented by their hyped-up ad campaign. They've now been around for a couple of years, and a Google search on their name now yields nearly 2 million hits. Also, there is currently much confusion on the internet where their name gets mixed up with a magazine that goes by that same name, as well as the dish satellite company "DirecTV". Therefor, I think that it may be time to restart an article about them, to be vigilant to prevent any of their minions from commandeering their article for their own advert. purposes (as I'm sure they will attempt at least once or twice), and to set up a good disambiguation page to clarify which company is what.

Ditto for me. In the meantime, would it cause any problems if I manually added some post-December-28-tagged Oregon-related articles to the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Admin? I'm just thinking of manually adding the ones I'm aware of (at least 10, I think), and manual additions to that list wouldn't have to be comprehensive, as the bot will fill in any missed by me (or anyone else who'd manually added some) after it's fixed.  At least then, those new articles would begin showing up in the WP:ORE "recent changes" list when edited.  However, would it cause problems if I added articles there, but did not add the associated talk pages or other non-article pages (recently tagged for WP:ORE) to Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Admin2? Archive for Cheshire search

I notice that the Cheshire search archive stopped displaying new items properly in November last year, but on investigation it looks as if the problem might just be a limit to the number of entries per page that the la & user templates will expand. Well, it seems to me that there are two belts. If you read carefully the last part of the first paragraph, and then see the draw in the right side of the webpage...

TedderBot/NewPageSearch

I recently reviewed User:TedderBot/NewPageSearch/Good/errors and noticed that the entry for National colours of Canada received a score of -50 for containing the pattern "\{\{or". Perhaps the pattern should be amended, as it catches {{or}} (rightfully so) but also {{orphan}} (perhaps unintentionally). I don't think the latter affects page quality to the same extent as the former, so should be re-weighted or eliminated. The bot also mistakenly catches the pattern "\Wlist" within the URL of a ref ("/list" in this case). Mindmatrix 13:32, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

A change was made in MediaWiki 1.21/wmf12 (installed on en.wiki March 11, 2013) that affects how the QueryContinue functionality works in the Java class WMFWiki11.parseQueryContinue(). They changed the attribute name from "rcstart" to "rccontinue" and added an additional value to the end of the timestamp to make it unique. I noticed that TedderBot is using the legacy QueryContinue. There is a new version mw:API:Query#Continuing_queries. I don't know if it is viable for Tedderbot to tag the talkpages of the NewArticles with appropriate Wikiprojects, as in most cases it return perfect results. I guess using the same dataset and codes (I am not from a computer background) after some modifications, it will be able to add those tags very easily. It's disabled for a short time because it's using an API that was changed underneath it. I need to update the code and put it on a different machine before restarting it. I am writing to you this letter, as there is a major problem and I believe that you are the best person to talk to about it.

First of all I would like to make a few comments on the profile that you have in wikipedia, telling you that I find it very smart.

In fact I chose to write to you out of a large number of administrators, as it seems that we have a lot of things in common. Unfortunately you are not mentioning anything about your motorcycles, but I would like you to know, that I am a great fun of them too, that's why I have an old collective BMW and a Honda of 1988 (both of them are in absolutely perfect condition).

The reason that I am communicating you, is because someone that was using the name : "Panagiotis Xenos-Kokoletsis" appears in a number of pages in wikipedia and this is a major problem for me, as it is creating a confusion that turned out whenever I have applied for a job, because all of the employers are asking me whether this person is me.

I would like to tell you, that this name is extremely rare, as we are only four people in the whole planet with this name (me and three cousins of mine) .

The problem though, is that I am keep on loosing job positions, as the employers can not know whether this person is me, or not. As you can understand this has as a consequence that I can not cope with the financial obligations that I have towards my family.

I will kindly ask you to delete these pages from wikipedia, as can not do it myself.

Cyberpower- it's written in Java. I just haven't had time to get it all installed on Eclipse, update the wikijava dependency, and find a new machine to run it on. (I have the machine, this is just a few hours of work and I haven't had a few hours). Here's the repo. I have a lot of failures in Eclipse that I don't have time to deal with, but I suspect the real problem is on this line. Obviously, these cannot serve to provide readers with any further information about the topics of the articles. Also, after a certain point the articles are no longer "new".

It occurred to me that the "What links here" utility, which I use a great deal, could be made more useful if, after some decent interval, you removed the pages created by your bot. (I'm fully aware that I could alter my Preferences to keep these pages from popping up, but I suspect that the average Wikipedia reader does not know this.)

So, what would you think of taking the older pages down?

Tedderbot multiple projects

Tedder, I'm seeing here you're having trouble with the bot. Just want to confirm. It looks to me like Women's History Project and Wikiproject Texas have not been updated since March, and WikiProject Hawaii has not been updated since early April. It's OK if they haven't because of the issues you've had with the bot. But I just want to confirm if those time periods seem about right to you. Excellent to see some progress and keep up the good work! Is the current rate of progress representantive of what to expect for the days and weeks ahead? I notice that the bot was on A* projects until 12 May, that it took 13 May for the B* projects and that the C* projects have been worked on 14 May and continue to be worked on today, 15 May. At that rate I suppose it will take at least until mid-June to reach the end of the project list? No, the problem is that there is a *lot* of data to search and process. Once it does this processing it'll have a shorter timerange to process, eventually we'll be back to running the search daily. But it's going to take a wile since it was down for so long. Right now I'm just monitoring it to make sure it doesn't stay crashed for long- it seems to take about an hour per search topic, so if it appears to be dead for several hours feel free to ping me here. tedder (talk) 17:37, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

If it dies on a project and I restart it, it will skip that project and go to the next one. That's so it doesn't get stuck in the same place. Unfortunately that means you have to wait for it to circle back around. Yeah, but Architecture needs to wait its turn in line. It's been almost a week for Architecture but it's been 6 weeks for WomensHistory and Wyoming. WikiProject Oregon Admin page

Hi, tedder. I've been reading the previous posts here (and your replies) over the past month, and more than once I decided there was no need for me to leave a message about tedderbot, because it appeared that if I just remained patient, eventually the bot would get back to updating the following WikiProject Oregon page: Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Admin — which is the page that logs all new or renamed articles to enable them to appear in the various "recent changes" lists for the project. However, from the most recent posts here, I'm starting to wonder if that page got overlooked; it was last updated on April 28. If the bot isn't ready to get back to automatic (daily) updates, at least a manual update once every week or two would be welcome, if practical. Tedderbot Unicode script character class support

I have created a set of bot rules for WikiProject Food and Drink. The initial set of rules will look for new articles with categories that have food or beverage or drink in the name. It will also look for new articles with stub templates with food or drink in the name. Let me know if you would like more categories or stubs to be search for, ie. Category:Food stub templates, Category:Foods. Once the bot starts operating again, you should see new articles about twice a week. I don't know when the bot will start operating again. Sorry for the confusion, each stub or subcategory must be entered individually. The rule /\[\[Category:[^\]]*food/ will match any category with 'food' anywhere in the name including Category:Foods. The rule is equivalent to [[Category:*food*]], where * matches any number of characters. The matching is case insensitive. Forestry new articles listing

Hello, Great to see these listings running again. Thank you! Regarding the 'Forestry' new articles search, I note that the listings have not been particularly useful. Looking at the search terms, I think it might, in part, be because of the inclusion of the term 'wood' in the search terms. It simply turns up too many things! E.g. 'Woodlawn' 'wood structure' etc. Could you please remove that particular search term from future 'Forestry' new article searches? You saw the search terms, right? Feel free to make any changes necessary. Those keyword search pages should be owned by subject experts, not me. If you are worried about breaking it, link the page here when you are done modifying it. Yep, it's a false positive. It scored 35 points, which is the point threshold for reporting articles for the Astronomy project. Here is the article scoring: User:TedderBot/NewPageSearch/Astro/errors. problems with the Disabled Veterans National Foundation article and a conflicted editor about 2 years ago? You seemed to have a very constructive and professional response to that person. (talk page stalker) Just to let you know TS, the only reason Tedder took an interest in that article is because I asked him to take a look at it because of my slight COI, and I know he is very busy right now. Photo in Willamette Week

FYI, Willamette Week used your photo of Central Catholic High School, and not only in its web edition of the article but also in the print edition. The latter occurred a week later, which is where I discovered it, reading the paper yesterday. I left details and links on the image's talk page at Commons. For the print version, the photo was cropped to approximately square. Both were credited – to "Tedder / CC" – and I don't know whether anyone at WW read the note you left at your Commons user page. Because the headline and date of the print edition's use differed from the online use, I placed some of the details (such as page number) in a hidden note, viewable only in edit mode. Museum hacks and museum edits

Hello there!

Upcoming events:

• February 6–8: The third annual ArtBytes Hackathon at the Walters Art Museum! This year Wikimedia DC is partnering with the Walters for a hack-a-thon at the intersection of art and technology, and I would like to see Wikimedia well represented.
• February 11: The monthly WikiSalon, same place as usual. RSVP on Meetup or just show up!
• February 15: Wiki Loves Small Museums in Ocean City. Mary Mark Ockerbloom, with support from Wikimedia DC, will be leading a workshop at the Small Museum Association Conference on how they can contribute to Wikipedia. Tons of representatives from GLAM institutions will be present, and we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out, check out "Information for Volunteers".

I am also pleased to announce events for Wikimedia DC Black History Month with Howard University and NPR. Details on those events soon.

Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, Portland Oregon (March 7, 2015)

Copyvio on Doernbecher photo

I was pinged but I like seeing these things. Right now the Wikimedia community promises attribution to contributors but has no infrastructure whatsoever to support contributors whose content is reused without attribution. I am not sure what the community should provide to assist such users, but there should be something more than nothing. Good places to start might be documentation explaining the issue and form letters to send out. I wish that there could be an on-wiki transparent process and tool for sending and timestamping copyright violation emails to off-wiki organizations, as in this case, so that this is a burden shared by the Wikimedia community rather than an individual dispute between contributor and copyright violator. Hi, Tedder. Via a circuitous route, I just came to see the edit history of Chevrolet Vega. Looks like it's being monopolized by an anonymous editor who makes tons of sequential small, tendentious edits and claims to have a monopoly on what is "correct", and rejects any input at all from other editors. And oh, hey, look at that, his IP resolves to the very same area of New York as that of User:Vegavairbob and his many socks, who was busted and blocked (repeatedly and finally permanently by you) for exactly that behavior on exactly that article.
