Welcome!

Hello, TheDJ, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 23:02, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

I have no idea, since I don't actually remember doing it. It was probably something to do with the content of the cat at the time. I have no problem with the redirect being restored now it's empty. -- Necrothesp 13:21, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Links on shortcuts

Can you help to clarify why there should be links on shortcuts? There's a thread on Wikipedia talk:Shortcuts#Links on shortcuts? about this, and since you made some of the edits, could you go over there and explain why they're a good thing? Thanks. --TreyHarris 23:19, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Userbox

Thanks for letting me know. It didn't show up on the page when I made it last night. My Firefox browser's been acting up. It must be related. I'll have it deleted. --myselfalso 13:30, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I created a userbox for the Wikiproject: Television Episodes and you can paste it into your user page if you want. {{User TV Single Ep}} --Nehrams2020 21:44, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for tiding up these templates - I stole them from the Swedish wikipedia, and don't know enough about templates to tidy them up. -- 9cds(talk) 23:44, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm in the process of collecting all the templates and categories regarding television to make sure that ppl will be able to find them later. For instance there are Template:ActingFilmography-tv and Template:Filmography-tv from Wikipedia:Filmographies as well. There are no real standards towards filmograhy atm, that are actually in use, but at least more people will know about them now (i added yours on the Filmographies talk page). - The DJ 23:52, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Publieke Omroep

Dag, TDJ.

I have finally put into execution my threat/promise :-) to start copyediting the English-language Publieke Omroep article... In view of your posting on the relevant talk page, perhaps you would like to cast your expert eye over my emendations / editing atrocities.

I still feel that calling the article "Publieke Omroep" (in the English-language Wp) is probably a mistake. Although de publieke omroep is a handy cover-all term in Dutch, I still think it would mean little to non-Dutch speakers who didn't already know what it meant (and would therefore be unlikely to form the object of a search). Calling the English-language article "Publieke Omroep" gives the impression -- which the originator perhaps had -- that "PO" is an incorporated organization (rather than a phenomenon). Hence I still feel it would be better entitled something like "Public broadcasting in the Netherlands". Wat denkt jij? -- Picapica 22:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

x-files cleanup

I noticed your comments on the X-Files talk page. If you're interested in helping with the cleanup process, then check out the X-Files cleanup subpage and sign up for a section if you like. I'm testing this out to see if it's a good way to organize cleanup processes. - Zepheus 21:29, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

atm, i'm too busy with organising the work on ALL TV related articles :D, I saw your post on the Village pump though, and wanted to pass along some useful information that I ran into lately. Good luck with your X-Files cleanup. I think you might have something there. - TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 22:45, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Episode list template

The Template Barnstar
I've begun to include the Episode list template into the List of South Park episodes page. Before the template was made, the WikiProject was pretty much dead. Thanks for your hard work into making this a reality! Here's a barnstar to show my appreciation. Will2k 03:21, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

VLC media player eh?

Well I am a big fan of VLC, and its creators. That recent addition of easy screenshots is a treat --Cat out 13:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Naming episodes

Can we add some guidelines for naming TV eps in the wikiproject TV eps? this is basically my criteria But if that's going to be valid (or not) it should be explain tn this page (the article, not in the talk page).

My vote is for Not using parenthesis clarification, if there is nothing else called that way (as everything else works on wikipedia if there is no disambiguation). That's also informative, as readers can infer whether the title of the episode comes from something else or it is a cultural reference..--T-man, the wise 08:23, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Libyan Airways

Thanks very much for the move information. I'm afraid I've never done it that way before. I usually just delete a page and put it into a new one. Thanks for the information. If there's a Wikipedia page which explains, please feel free to send it to me,

Sorry again, Jaw101ie 01:33, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Pryor Creek, Oklahoma

No worries. I will keep my eye on the article, and I have also posted an explanation regarding the copyvio on the user's talk page. -- Nothlit 02:11, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Blocked user

The User had committed several vandalisms prior to the vandalism of the User page, the final one was the last straw, and as soon as their three hour block was up, they came back to do it again. If they want to make valid edits, they can do that when they come back from their 24 hour break. User:Zoe|(talk) 21:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

why?

why cant one removed it?Somemoron 23:59, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Libyan Airways

Hi,

I tried to do a move from Libyan Arab Airlines destinations to Libyan Airways destinations but it didn't work. Could you help with it please? thank you Jaw101ie 17:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Television articles

Hi TheDJ,

Thanks for your nice note. It has been very difficult to verify much of the information about the DuMont Television Network because most of the people who were associated with the company are now dead or are older folks who don't go on-line much. And even very thick reference guides to television often make no mention of DuMont. It's really frustrating at times.

I share your view that a lot of the most important television stuff on Wikipedia goes neglected. I'd love to help out. I'm absolutely terrible at rating articles, but can definitely try to drum up support for the project, or offer ideas, or do some editing... What needs work? :) Firsfron of Ronchester 05:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the rv

On Genetic code I didn't do the rv since I'd be liable for the 3rv rule. (lame in case like this) thanks. They guys been final warned so hopefully they will stop. Judging from their record though, I doubt it. Thanks again.--Xiahou 01:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Infobox

I've reverted this change, please explain it? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:22, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

.. and this thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:23, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Also I do not wish to hear "Because the parental template (Infobox TV episode) should be used", The 4400 pages take a lead from the Doctor Who episode pages. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
OK, i will take the template trough TFD first and get it deleted per precedent before replacing it then. TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 15:25, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah, so your just a disruptive user? Thank you for admitting that :)? but as you will notice The 4400 template has additional values. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Boohoo on the disruptive remark. now that is being a big boy, start throwing words around by all means. I missed the "4400" parameter. thanks for pointing it out to me. TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 15:32, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I get very agitated very quickly ^_^ - people say I should see someone, heh (a girl I hope, girls are nice.. mm). thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Infoboxes (2)

Thanks for creating that list. We can probably nominate the easiest first and go from there.

The UK generic template only exists to (legitimately) change the US-centric 'aired' to 'Original broadcast'. It seems a shame to have an entire different template just because of one field. Is it possible to integrate 'broadcast' into the main template and 'if' both terms? The JPStalk to me 18:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Might you like to comment at WP:CFD#Category:Fictional_Australian_television_characters as well, seeing as you changed your mind at WP:CFD#Category:Fictional_American_television_characters? 128.118.60.165 03:36, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Your templates..

Nice work, much better then mine (I never considered using switch) :-) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 10:40, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

question

Should Template:Reason exist, or not? I'm not familiar enough with the rules for inclusion of templates. Cornell Rockey 17:27, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

VLC

Your userpage says "Most people will know me from my work on VLC media player" - are you a developer of VLC? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 14:37, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Aye. Forgot about that, done it :-) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:21, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, I use VLC, cool software indeed :-) - one thing that would be cool though is if when you, right click, crop to xy:yz that it saved it in that crop when you click snapshot, I imagine that this sort of thing needs to be requested on the forum however? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Qosmos

Hello, I indeed added links towards the Qosmos site on the page Wikipedia Television Rating system. I acknowledge after second reading that this link did not take place to be on this page. I indeed confused Television rating system with the Audience Rating system. Médiamétrie deploys Qosmos’s innovative flow analysis technology for the measurement of TV over IP audience ratings.[1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.14.121.139 (talk) 13:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC).

WP Userbox

Do you think the userbox should be moved to something like Wikipedia:WikiProject Television episodes/Userbox? I'm still new to the whole migration process and moved the five I created into my userpage so I could get a better track of them. It would probably be best to move this one into the wikiproject's namespace. I'll ask you first if that sounds like a good place to move it. Once it's moved, I'll delete my subpage. By the way, your vacation template at the top of the page is expired, unless you want a longer vacation of course. --Nehrams2020 19:51, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Six Feet Under Infobox

I have no objections, feel free to change whatever you need or if you want to convert the boxes in the episodes to the normal template infobox that's also alright. Sfufan2005 00:47, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Re : call for undelete

Template:User TV Single Ep was moved to User:Nehrams2020/Userboxes/ TV Single Ep and only contain the author's edits, no undeletion is required. Just simplify replicate the code from the userified page and recreate it under the WikiProject. - Mailer Diablo 04:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 20:39, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Infobox template

Whoops, I didn't realise that the images were linked differently with the two different templates. Apologies for that, hope it didn't take you too long to sort out my mistake.--NeilEvans 21:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: messed up Infobox

Hiya DJ. Yes as far as I am aware, some channels in the UK use a ratings system very similar to that used by the cinema's in the UK. Ireland uses the U/PG/12/15/18/R system and GB uses a similar system. Some tv companies here, such as Five television do use on screen ratings in announcements to denote suitability of a programme. Thor Malmjursson

No they aren't! Surprisingly, I don't think many people take notice of the systems here and in Ireland. However, I will do some research with the Office of the Censor in Dublin to get Irish Information and I know the British one anyhow. Thanks again and regards. Thor Malmjursson 16:00, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

TV-col

Hey. I had to revert your changes to TV-col as it wouldn't work like that (it'd return two outputs), personally however should we really modify the text colour? As that would give people more lenience to try and replicate a rainbow. Matthew 20:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, i was stupid, i should have checked if it was actually working. I'm getting a bit too confident in my own parserfunctions skills :D But this should work User:TheDJ/SandboxTemplate, User:TheDJ/Sandbox
Anyways, yes, in general I agree that choosing different colors for text might be a bad idea, but white on black is a bit of an exception for me. For one, it's proven to be more readable. I was also thinking we should hide this "text" formatting as best as we can to avoid random people using it. --TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 20:29, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps we should name the param "whitetext". allow only 2 colors, inherit (black) and white --TheDJ (talkcontribsWikiProject Television) 20:33, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Seems like a good idea to me. Matthew 20:34, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
