What's Up?

I was surprised to see you here, and was surprised that the NinDB article got deleted. I do understand it's non-notable, but you know, eventually Wikipedia won't have any more notable subjects left, and will have to expand it's "agenda", if you know what i mean ;)

You can help contribute to some of my articles if your interested in Google Earth and Theme Parks. Currently I'm working on the European theme park article Compagnie des Alpes and are hoping for more contributers to the Google Sky article. FWI, I created both articles. Cheers from Boston! Fair Image deletion

The image you left on my talk page was removed and replaced with that "fair use" crap and it's kind of an eyesore. Could I PLEASE delete it?

Blue Ridge Mall/Crossing

I think it would make the most sense to merge and redirect Blue Ridge Mall to Blue Ridge Crossing, since it's the same property and we only need one page on it. I turned up three good sources in the AfD, and there're probably scads more for a mall that opened in 1958 and was redeveloped only a couple years ago. What say you? • Wouldn't it make more sense to reflect the current name, though, with the old name being a redirect? Sure, more people know it as Blue Ridge Mall than as Blue Ridge Crossing, but I thought convention was to reflect the current name of a place (such as Wonderland Village instead of Wonderland Mall or Wonderland Center). I'll have to hit the library sometime. It's possible that the Marshall Field's deli was different from the sit-down restaurant that the old store had. I just happened to luck out on Walden Galleria because there were a *(@#$load of sources on Google News; even Great Lakes Crossing, the biggest mall in Michigan, doesn't turn up a whole heck of a lot. There're still a couple mall holes I want to plug up first (see the red links on my userpage), then I'll work on a few more mall articles. Maybe we should pick one and see if we can get it to GA. • Oh, by the way, regarding that poster who mentioned Woolworth Express, that was me. There were Woolcos that became Kmart, so it could be possible that Woolworth took the old Kresge. I have a listing from a 1989 phone book that at least verifies Woolworth Express. As for this picture, that's looking north from what was then Hudson's. I can tell because Kresge is on the left, where The Limited was most recently. No idea on the Hudson's Budget Store, but looking at old pics found at the mall itself, it seems that it was part of Hudson's proper (maybe the part that became Service Merchandise? Service Merch looks like it was part of the Hudson's building at one point). Finally, as a bonus, here's a map I made of the mall as it looked in mid-2006, with former tenants in orange. I might be able to make a trip down to Waterford on Sunday, but I don't know how late they'd be open if at all. The full text of the article is as follows:

The famous El Vado Motel, passes along the U.S. Route 66. The neon lights of the highly stylized is said to have been "beckoning travelers for six decades". The adobe cabins epitomize everything southwestern and capture the spirit of the "Land of Enchantment." Because of the El Vado's unique character it has been placed on the National Historic Register. It truly is one of the best examples of a classic Route 66 motor court to be found along the Mother Road and is an irreplaceable treasure indeed

Built in 1937 by Dan Murphy, former manager of Albuquerque's Franciscan Hotel. In the mid 1980s to the early 1990s, El Vado was run by the very well-liked Ali Hakam, who has was attributed to faithfully preserving the charm and elegance of the historic motel.

There was no mention of its danger of meeting the wrecking ball. Also note the article's total lack of sources. Finally note the language used:

• It truly is one of the best examples of a classic Route 66 motor court to be found along the Mother Road and is an irreplaceable treasure indeed
• "... El Vado was run by the very well-liked Ali Hakam ..."
• The adobe cabins epitomize everything southwestern and capture the spirit of the "Land of Enchantment." -- This is not encyclopedic without decent sourcing. As it is it is mere verbiage (This is sentimental, not anything really substantial).
• The neon lights of the highly stylized is said to have been "beckoning travelers for six decades". -- Again this is an opinion.

I suppose at the time I *could* have stubbed it, I won't say no to your recreating it (and fixing the flaws), but I do think the original reason for deletion was valid (the article reads as a promotion), as a stub would merely read that it was a historic place. —— nixeagle 20:09, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

I have recreated Crossroads Plaza as a disambiguation page with links to both Crossroads Plaza (North Carolina) and Crossroads Plaza (Utah). That doesn't change the fact that Crossroads Plaza (North Carolina) isn't really notable. Sure, it may be a vital strip mall, but that's all it is...a strip mall. There's no history, no references...just a list of stores. TheListUpdater (talk) 22:55, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

The Crossroads Plaza in Utah does not seem to be any more notable, nor was the article any longer. There are plenty of stubs on Wikipedia. Crossroads Plaza (North Carolina) can be expanded, just as Crossroads Plaza (Utah) can be expanded. --Andrew Kelly (talk) 23:07, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I am trying to revive this project to highlight the unique stories of malls across the country and the world especially as we lose more and more of them. I've noticed a user page of yours (linked above) is appearing in a regular content category. See Category:Texas navigational boxes under T. This is discouraged. See WP:DRAFTNOCAT and WP:USERNOCAT for additional information.

Usually the situation is remedied by placing a leading colon at the beginning of the category declaration like so:

[[:Category:Texas navigational boxes]]

or, by bracketing category declarations with Template:Draft categories like this:

[[Category:Texas navigational boxes]]
}}
