Support request with team editing experiment project[edit]

Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Scale of justice 2.svgHello, The Anome. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.

NHRP detaggables[edit]

So, I ended up here: User:The Anome/NHRP detaggables because of this redirect, Skeleton Cave Massacre Site. I recently created Skeleton Cave (Arizona), and when I was linking other pages to the article, I found the detaggables page. In scanning your list, I came across Work, John, House and Mill Site which I then linked to John Work House and Mill Site which has existed since 2006.

It occurred to me that there may be a number of pages already in existence, but since they are not formatted the same as what's on this page, they aren't being identified as being done. I'm trying to think on how to solve this problem. --evrik (talk)

Speedy deletion nomination of Byline TV[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Byline TV, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, could you explain how a military unit would require coordinates? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talkcontribs) 19:02, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[]

@1234qwer1234qwer4: It's an error in the category-matching heuristics that produce the {{coord missing}} candidates; it's confusing military divisions with this kind of division. I'll add some more heuristics to catch and block this special case. -- The Anome (talk) 14:13, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[]
Thanks; maybe we can get a list of military divisions where the {{coord missing}} tag should be removed again? ~~~~

I've just created a list: User:The Anome/geotagged divisions. It's not exhaustive, but that should get most of them. Note that military divisions which have a fixed location can validly have coordinates, so they need to be reviewed individually. -- The Anome (talk) 13:39, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[]

Proposed deletion of Interim freezing order[edit]

Notice

The article Interim freezing order has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article reads as a dictionary definition and "Interim freezing order" as it relates to the UK seems non-notable, and a mention of it can be included in Asset freezing. No objection to redirecting to that location rather than deleting.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. @Slatersteven: Apologies. It was unintentional; I was trying to fix a formatting problem, and accidentally overwrote your comment in an edit conflict. -- The Anome (talk) 16:13, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Hi! An obvious sock or meat puppet of User:Albaredd made a comment that may not exactly be a legal threat[9], but certainly is harassment. I don't know if this is enough for another block, but I think it should at least be revdel'ed. –Austronesier (talk) 13:33, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[]

I've indefblocked them. Thanks for the heads-up. -- The Anome (talk) 16:42, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[]

REDACTING COMMENTS[edit]

You should not remove other users comments (as you did here [[10]]).Slatersteven (talk) 13:18, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[]

@Slatersteven: Holy shit. This was, of course, entirely unintentional. This is not the first time this has happened, and I've tried to find out why it seems to be happening just to me. I'm now convinced this is something to do with how the latest version of the editor is caching edit state. I notice that using the back button on hitting an edit conflict (which is what I've been doing) is losing the most recent contribution, and editing that copy thus overwrites it, even if I've selected not keeping my version on the pop-up. Re-loading the page, rather than hitting the back button, seems to make things work properly.

I've restored your comment; please, please let me know if this happens again; I'm as pissed off with it as you are. -- The Anome (talk) 13:31, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Over my 16 years I have encountered these undetected edit conflicts on several but rare occasions. It seems the software just fails to notice and edit conflict from time to time and lets an edit just clobber the previous one. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 13:33, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[]
It used to happen to me, then I realised that what causes is is when there is an edit conflict, and rather than just start from scratch you instead use the go back bottom and then resubmit.Slatersteven (talk) 13:50, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[]
That may cause it, but it can happen without doing that because it happens to me sometimes and I never do that. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 13:55, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[]
