Removing cleanup templates

[edit]

Is there any particular reason why you are removing cleanup templates from various articles? --Gavin Collins (talk) 09:06, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Articles without references should not be immediately tagged as non-notable, without first attempting to determine notability. I'm removing the tags that were inserted where no attempt to determine notability was made. As has been mentioned before, you must attempt to educate yourself on the subject, and locate references before you go around mass-tagging articles.--ThirdLevelRanger (talk) 23:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. If secondary sources was all you required, you should have used {{refimprove}}, {{unreferenced}}, or even {{onesource}}. To blanket these articles with the notability tag, without first attempting to determine their notability (either through Wikipedia or otherwise) is a gross misuse of the policy. Please re-read the policy -- you'll only need to look at the first paragraph: "If an article currently does not cite reliable secondary sources, that does not necessarily mean that its topic is not notable." --ThirdLevelRanger (talk) 00:22, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
