John Reames[edit]

Hi Tom, what date does the birth certificate say on it? GiantSnowman 16:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

19 feb 1942

OK, but he died in May 2008 (giving a death date of 66), but all the sources provided - even the Lincoln City F.C. website - say he died at the age of 65; I'm very confused !!GiantSnowman 10:35, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An error by one journalist then plagarised by others perhaps? Most important could you add a photo image to the page please. Thanks

Could be very well the case, but as I'm sure you can appreciate Wikipedia needs verifiable sources, so 65 must remain for the time being. As for the photo - if you can find one on a website then post the link here & I'll upload the photo as soon as I can. GiantSnowman 01:28, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

photo: http://www.sportsecho.co.uk/media/articles/0905_web_johnreames.JPG did someone shrink the article yesterday? thanks

As the articles referring to the age aren't ever going to change then how do you suggest we get this article accurate? Scan u copy of birth or death cert?

I've asked fellow editors at WP:FOOTBALL for advice as how to proceed, you can follow the discussion there if you wish. Regards, GiantSnowman 12:09, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciated. Any luck with photo?

Hi, we've managed to sort out the birthdate - I've put a note on Talk:John Reames explaining what's happened - so hope that's all sorted now. Regarding the photo: I've put a request in at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions for someone to check that the photo doesn't breach any copyright; if all's OK then I'll add it to the article. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:T1505 WEB reames1.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:T1505 WEB reames1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 05:21, 18 February 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:21, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE EXCUSE MY IGNORANCE AS IM WIKI NOVICE CANT SEE HOW TO MESSAGE BACK RE A CHANGE YOUVE MADE TO John Reames article, i own the photo in question as it is my father who commissioned the photo in his capacity of owner of lincoln city football club at the time and the photos were handed over directly by the club, please reinstate the photo and article as i left it PLEASE. big thanks and sorry..didnt know where to message

A tag has been placed on File:1505 WEB reames1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 05:22, 18 February 2010 (UTC) PLEASE EXCUSE MY IGNORANCE AS IM WIKI NOVICE CANT SEE HOW TO MESSAGE BACK RE A CHANGE YOUVE MADE TO John Reames article, i own the photo in question as it is my father who commissioned the photo in his capacity of owner of lincoln city football club at the time and the photos were handed over directly by the club, please reinstate the photo and article as i left it PLEASE. big thanks and sorry..didnt know where to message[reply]

Re: John Reames article[edit]

I will not reinstate the image. You can't just upload an image with a blank description and expect it not be deleted. Please re-upload it with all the source information you told me, and a proper license (since your family commissioned the photo you should collaborate with the photographer and choose one). File copyright problem with File:Wiki reames.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Wiki reames.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

December 2010[edit]

Hi Tom. Your recent edits to the John Reames article are being reverted (by other editors as well, not just me!) for a number of reasons:

  1. You are removing headings from the article, contravening the Manual of Style.
  2. You are copy and pasting directly from a source, contravening policy on copyright violations.
  3. You are listing the same reference (Lincoln City official website profile of John) as if it was 6 or 7 different references. Please see here for details on how and why the <ref name> tag should be used in such circumstances.

Thanks and regards, GiantSnowman 15:18, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
