I was wondering the same thing but erred on the side of caution since the article said racquetball, linked to the racquetball article, and said racquetball instead of something like squash. I have no strong opinions either way but if pushed, would say stick with racquetball unless we can show that it was another game (like squash) and not racquetball. Racquetball players[edit]

Hi, thanks for the new additions. A few notes though. Can you format them more like this intro (bold name, parenthesis around birth year). Also, please help to fill up Category:Racquetball players by nationality by putting them there. Last, have you looked at Did you know for new articles and trying to get some up there on the Main Page? Just a little mention could get a lot of notice on your work and help bring in other editors. Thanks for the advice. I've been putting people's names in bold and their birth dates in parentheses. I'm not sure about the nationalities thing though. I didn't start the American racquetball players category, and as there are few racquetball players in general, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to have them all in one category. That is, there are only a couple of Mexicans that I've done pages for, and a couple of Canadians, though I might do a few more of them. Does it make sense to break down racquetball players by nationality in this situation? Also, I'm not sure I get the DYK thing, though it would be cool to have an article on the main page, of course. Moving an article[edit]

There's move button at the top so you can change the article's name. See Help:Moving a page for more details. It will also create a redirect so people searching for the old name should transfer over. Also, our naming convention is to use the most common name of a person (which isn't always their legal name). {{US Open Racquetball Champions (men)}}[edit]

I have fixed the problem with the template not appearing. The name in the template itself was incorrect. So you can now edit it. In the future, if you have a template issue like this, as in the template exists, you can always access the template by typing "Template:US Open Racquetball Champions (men)" or whatever the name is of the template. To find the correct name, edit the section where the template is transcluded onto an article and you can find the name inside the {{}} as in {{US Open Racquetball Champions (men)}} is the name of the template. Or a shortcut is to edit the section, then write {{tl|US Open Racquetball Champions (men)}} (as in add a "tl|" inside the brackets) in there and hit preview. It will then give you a link to the template you can then select to leave the article you were on. Be sure not to hit save though on the original article as you are only using it as a portal and you don't want to save the edit. Aboutmovies (talk) 22:27, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2012 World Championships[edit]

I have been checking the results from the International Federation... and either I can't understand the Draw System or the information in the article 2012 Racquetball World Championships that you have created. Osplace 02:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The IRF's website isn't the best for obtaining information, but I've put in links to the relevant pdfs. Do they help? I'll do it with the citeweb format, when I've got a bit more time. They do use a straight draw - with seedings based on performances based on the best 2 of the last 3 World Championships. But there are 'consolation' divisions, so they play off to determine all the positions. Also, this year those playoffs matter in singles, because this the selection event for the 2013 World Games with the top 16 players qualifying. Is this clear? Regarding Daniel de la Rosa[edit]

You may do as you like, but I suggest you start looking up articles about him in Spanish [1]. You'll see his name being written as "de la Rosa" in more or less 90% of cases. That may not be the norm in English and I know this is the English-language wiki, but let's not anglicize everything. -- Lancini87 (talk)

Well, I did as I thought was appropriate based on what the individual himself does. I get that Spanish written conventions may hold that his name should be written differently, but that's not what he's used when he had the opportunity. October 2016[edit]

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Mike Ceresia. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! A magazine cover is almost always covered by copyright. Therefore, the rules about fair use of non-free content apply. See Non-free content criteria. Thanks for the prompt reply. The article would be on a racquetball player, and there are few images of players, so that's why I'm wondering about using a magazine cover. The magazine would be the official magazine of the player's national sport organization (NSO), so non-profit organization publication. I'm sure the NSO would be OK with this use. Also, I'm thinking of a magazine from about 20 years ago, so not a recent publication. Finally, where would I make the case for this use? According to my reading of the non-free content policy, that use isn't something that could be covered by a fair-use rationale. Your notion that the copyright holder would be OK with such a use is not persuasive, and the cover copyright is both with the magazine and the photographer. And in most countries, copyright lasts considerably longer than 20 years.
