Ben Ditchfield

hi, im writing on behalf of Ben ditchfield who is widely recognised as a all-round musician and is an influence to many others that admire his music and outragous stage performances. i feel that he deserves to have an article on wikipedia for his is a significant figure in the world of instrumental music. he has his signature sound and image and a fast selling album, reviewed by many magazines. he is a significance to instrumental music so i think my article about him should not be deleted because of the above reasons. thankyou (Ditchy13 (talk) 01:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC))

Hi, just a reminder to mark pages as patrolled after you speedy 'em. Cheers --DFS454 (talk) 22:12, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Jesse Rowe

Just a friendly note on Jesse Rowe. I declined the speedy deletion because winning a film festival is a claim of importance. If you think it still needs to go, PROD or AfD would be the way to go.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 00:49, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

A little less alacrity with your speedy deletion templates, please. I had to pause for a moment to switch PCs and find a deletion note on Minos Volanakis. Hey Tony,

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Vivekananda Institute of professional Studies, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Vivekananda Institute of professional Studies is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Vivekananda Institute of professional Studies, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. CJ Lyons

Can you be more specific about where the image and text are taken from Lyons's website? I'm suspicious of the CJ Lyons article myself as either a copyvio or somebody with a COI creating the article, but I couldn't find the copied text to pin down the suspicion. If you could put some diffs at Talk:CJ Lyons, I'll be watching there. Thanks! —C.Fred (talk) 01:05, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

The fact that a portion of the picture is at her website, plus the uploader claiming rights to it, makes me think that whoever created the article is associated with her publishing company, so COI and spam are the bigger concerns than copyright infringement. —C.Fred (talk) 01:27, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Andrew Tyrrell

I noticed your AfD prod on the Andrew Tyrrell while doing some research on the Broken Radio page. I can't seem to find any information on the movie called "Broken Radio". This was previously a redirect to a radio station page (where I picked it up), should I AfD prod the page, revert, etc? - NeutralHomerTalk • February 14, 2009 @ 16:16

I am not very good with AfD's (I have done one in my entire time here), so if you would like to update my AfD/Prod, please feel free. - NeutralHomerTalk • February 14, 2009 @ 16:36

Michael Wilbur and Broken Radio

Hey Tony, I'm currently gathering the sources of all the information and posting them as I figure out how. Broken Radio doesn't have an IMDB yet because it has not been theatrically released so therefore, come this June when it is, it'll have one as well as will the actors in it. Also, the crediting on Ghost Hunters as well as the comcast center employment, production studios and all that I have the sources to and will be posting within the next 24 hours thusly providing significant sources to all that is said and relevant. If you don't believe I am notable enough, you would be wrong seeing as I am a small time local celebrity and probably more well known that some of the other things on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwilbs (talkcontribs) 16:48, 14 February 2009 (UTC) Sorry if I sounded condesending, upon my second reading of my message I seemed to have come off that way and I apologize. IMDB only posts in-production movies from major production companies (dreamworks, universal, etc.) and not local. Local films are only accepted upon release and certificate of release, and a fee which has been paid if you want a copy of the receipt as proof. I have my writers guild membership number if you would like to see that as a credible source, as well as the registration of broken radio with the writeres guild of america. As for no existance in the listings from without a box, I stated that it had recieved honorable mention in the festival, meaning it was given that title but not accepted into the screenings, thusly it would not be listed. The providence film festival is a private film festival perfromed at providence college in providence, ri and I have in print files proving its award on that if you wish for me to reference, and or scan in for reference those. AS or ghost hunters the site I claimed to be not credible, I joined the crew in late 2008 as an interning prodiction assitant for the new season and will be credited upon the upon coming 2009-2010 season begining on March 18th and thusly I posted the first site to have courage of said credits. Again, I have the paper work signed and dated by the shows producers as well as pilgrim films declaring my employment as an intern. I also have my certificates of awards won by the films I have produced, as well as links to either the film it self in some that I have only produced and links to trailers of other films in which I have directed and produced. Please tell me what you would like for me to produce to you as proof for either Michael Wilbur's article or more importantly, Broken Radio's article and I will be more than happy to produce them for you. I also have the entry form that was sumbitted to the film festival as well as the letter of honorable mention. Any of these things, or other things let me know and I will produce them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwilbs (talkcontribs) 20:11, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your help with this. ttonyb1 (talk) 21:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I'm a little confused; I didn't remove the PROD from this article. In fact, I think the article should be deleted as being non-notable. However, I did notice that the creator (or an alias of the creator) removed the PROD so I re-added the notability tag. (I usually do that to give people a chance to add references or notability assertions before I take the article to AfD or something similar.) Rnb (talk) 15:17, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

This is probably at least partially my fault as I failed to use an edit summary when re-adding the tag. I usually do, but I should try and do that every time. No problem, in any case. Rnb (talk) 17:29, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Interest

I would like you to look at Michael Wilbur and just click on his "official website" [1] - You will note it's interesting, and maybe those on the AfD might think so. I would have pointed it out myself, but I said I would not engage in the AfD, and for me to do so would seem hypocritical. Do you think it's a hoax? --Artypants (talk) 17:05, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

  • The funny thing is, I clicked on it to make sure I was not wrong about him (deep down I didn't think I was as I've seen enough of these type of articles on the Wiki), but I wanted to be fair! I have also seen that he's been blocked. I didn't know this when I said I would not engage in the AfD anymore, but even if I had I would still have stopped out of fairness. I think what got me was his attitude and language, especially against his own production team. Still he didn't blip the Editors votes like a certain party just did on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andrea Shavonne Williams. Some people! I still placed their comment on the AfD. I am really, really tempted to comment on what they've said, but think I'd better not. --Artypants (talk) 17:36, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Jon Stebbins/Beach Boy Biographer

Hi Tony, I have been working to wikify and clean up my newly-minted article on Jon Stebbins, the author of two books on former Beach Boys. It was my first attempt at creating an article, and now I think it is more in the wikipedia style. When you get a chance, I'd appreciate you taking a look and see if some or all of the remaining tags can be removed. Thanks! Jusdafax (talk) 02:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Ok I've fleshed it out a bit further, adding Stebbin's website, additional info, etc. Again, when you can, give it another look and see if you can remove some of those tags. I just wanted to get a stub or start class entry for Stebbins so I could back up the links I have cited for the work I'm doing on some of the Beach Boys. Thanks again! Jusdafax (talk) 07:00, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the tag removal, and the good advice and help. I'll work on getting the Stebbins article a bit more expanded, perhaps with some book reviews, as you suggested, and see if I can't move it in the next week or two from stub to start class. It was a good learning experience to create an article from scratch, and now the process is a bit less mysterious to me. Looks like you have a lot of major-league issues on your plate, so thanks for your time on this, appreciate it!

Re:Michelle LaCourse

Thanks for your help Tony. This is my first foray into posting information here on wikipedia and your suggestions are quite helpful. When I get back to adding more information to this as well as other posts I hope the learning curve will be less steep! Thanks again. Bubratsche (talk) 05:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Tony, I did delete this article you tagged as a speedy ... but as G3, pure vandalism (it's a copy of Saint, with somone's name inserted), not as G1, nonsense. It actually does make a difference which tag you use, especially to vandal-whackers, who need to know that the article was evidence of pure vandalism. Please see WP:NONSENSE for the guideline on when to use the nonsense tag. Thanks. (Watchlisting) - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 17:26, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for references help

Thanks for sorting out the references for my recently created article. I eventually figured it out but then there was an edit-conflict as you'd just done it. It is no wonder that Wikipedia lacks sources for most articles if it's that complicated to add them - surely it could be made much much sipler?--Xania talk 19:37, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Aiko Climaco: proposal for deletion

You have tagged the article Aiko Climaco for deletion. I totally agree that the article should be deleted, and have added my own comment on its talk page supporting your proposal. However, you give as reason for deletion "Minor actor with limited Goggle hits", and I thought it might be worth suggesting that this might not be the most effective wording to get support for your proposal. The Wikpedia guideline on notability of people says "Avoid criteria based on search engine statistics (e.g., Google hits or Alexa ranking), or measuring the number of photos published online", and so other reasons may be more persuasive. To be honest, I feel in this case it is so glaringly obvious that this article needs to be deleted that it probably doesn't matter much what words you use, but it could make a difference on another occasion, so I thought I would mention it. JamesBWatson (talk) 22:48, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Oops

I deleted Zainabia_Islamic_Center,_Atlanta too quickly, before you had a chance to notify the editor, now you can't see their name ... it's User:Redraiders216. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 22:55, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Regarding "Thanks, but they saw the tag before you deleted"...I asked around (for instance here). We'd like you to go ahead and put the standard copyvio message on the user's talk page whenever you speedy-tag, because that message has instructions that are not in the message that goes on the article page. It would be a help if you would do them either at the same time (with a bot) or do the talk page message before the article tag ... that way, I won't have to check the user's talk page every time to make sure it's there. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 23:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I'll start making sure I get that done going forward. I make no promises that I will not forget on occasion, but I will eventually get there. Thanks for following up. ttonyb1 (talk) 23:48, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm happy to have your help! It's a lot easier to work with 10 busy CSD taggers than with 100 occasional taggers. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 00:01, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if you saw or not, but this user committed several malicious redirects from articles earlier this evening. I noticed, but I figured that warning him for them all would of course be reason to report him but it would put my motives into question. Reporting him all at once and whatnot. "Be strong and bold, but don't chop someone's leg off in the process" etc.

--AmaraielSend Message 04:55, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

They need the {{nothanks-sd}} before I can delete their copyvio at William P. Latham, Tony. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 04:16, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay thanks, I see it now. Per Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/Header#Instructions, please notify the uploader first, then tag. - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 04:19, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't contesting that the person doesn't exist, this is a negative unsourced BLP. If you're going to say something like what's on there, you better be pasting some sources for it, because otherwise the whole thing should go. See WP:BLP. §FreeRangeFrog 04:13, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Erm, and when I say you I don't mean you obviously... well, you know what I mean. §FreeRangeFrog 04:19, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I left a comment in the edit log that I thought that "considered the best player of his era" and "number one player rating in the world" were assertions of notability. Per WP:CSD#A7 that speedy criteria "does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source", hence this article is not eligable under A7 as although possibly unscourced it does make a reasonable claim of significance. Personally I have no plans to update the article and I'd be reasonably surprised if this articles survives the prod / Afd process even if a reliable source is found. Dpmuk (talk) 17:50, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Hate to trouble you again Tony but I'd appreciate it if you would take a quick look at, and upgrade the rating if you see fit, my recent work on the David Marks article. It is currently rated as a 'stub', and I contend it is now more than a bit better than that, but I'm happy to abide by your judgement. I'm moving on to work on other bios, notably continued labors on Beach Boy Brian Wilson, and I need a reality check. Thanks for any time you can devote to this! Jusdafax (talk) 07:12, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for responding. Take as long as you need to get to it, and thanks yet again. Jusdafax (talk) 21:59, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Michael Wilbur II

Hi, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maziar Zand looks to be another Michael Wilbur. The AfD has been messed around (even User:Mwilbs didn't do that), anyway I've reported it to an Admin I know, Tyrenius. Just to let you know. Artypants, Babble 16:20, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree that the tone of this article that you db-spammed was over the top, but he asserted notability. I reduced the article to two sentences and stuck a notability tag on it. Other than making calls on speedies, I leave decisions about prod and AfD up to the taggers, but if you'd like me to make the call, I can do that. Thanks for all your work btw, it's generally flawless, when I see it. (Watchlisting) - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 20:14, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Dan, I've tagged it as unreferenced, let's see if the author makes some changes to it. BTW - thanks for the compliment, I do and have made many mistakes, but hope that I am able to learn from them. ttonyb1 (talk) 20:21, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
