Welcome![edit]

Hello, Tvaulto, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Jesus Correa, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

{{help}}

I don't feel I really need to do anything to this page to make it Wiki ready. But if anyone else would like to help me fix whatever issues it is that someone is objecting to, please do. My feeling is that no amount of editing I do will keep the person who summarily deleted this article after it had already passed challenges from doing so again. Anyone out there want to show the decency of helping first then resorting to deleting someone else's work? Tvaulto (talk) 03:35, 28 May 2010 (UTC) <----Why isn't this working?[reply]

Re. User:Tvaulto/Jesus Correa
Help moved here. I will answer here very soon.
Hi there.
I moved your request for help here, to your user talk page - we like to deal with {{helpme}} on users own talk, so that you get the 'you have new messages' alert.
A few suggestions to improve the article and avoid problems;
  • I don't think that the blog reference (4) is a reliable source - blogs rarely are. So, you should remove the fact about The Leaders of Something Horrible unless a suitable RS can be found, and remove that reference.
  • Correa VII's artwork and comedy are absurdist, surrealist, and completely original in nature. - this is not neutral; it is opinion rather than fact. Declaring that he is 'completely original' is somewhat promotional - remove anything that is not a purely factual, sourced statement.
  • Correa performs stand-up comedy regularly at Kryptonite in Rockford, Illinois, as well as clubs throughout the Midwest. - no reference. If facts cannot be supported by a reliable source - ie they can't be verified - they should be removed.
  • Looking at the size of sections - and bearing in mind those removals - I suggest not having sub-headings, or certainly not so many. A subsection should have a couple of paragraphs or so; currently they are all very short. It probably does not need any subheadings at all. A simple, well-referenced short article is far preferable to a weakly-sourced / non-neutral longer one. Chop it right down to the really good bits (referenced), and then it will probably be OK to go live. It can hopefully be expanded later, if more sources are available.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello.  Chzz  ►  04:21, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas L. Vaultonburg[edit]

{{help}} You can delete this article after this you want, but I'd like have my say. I had nothing to do with creating this article. I know the person who created it. And I made a minor edit.

All I want is enough people who actually are qualified to make a judgement as to what is and what is not noteworthy in the the literary world to see the article and pass judgement. I am confident if people who have this expertise see it they will be able to tell you these publication credits are pretty substantial.

Also, if it makes anyone feel better to remove the webpage or any reference to anything you feel is self-promotional, do so, as I don't need to advertise.

But if you want to claim it's not noteworthy do me the small honor of checking your facts first. Go see what percentage of submissions a publication like Exquisite Corpse or Caliban or Karamu published, or who else appears in those periodicals. Until you do me the courtesy of doing that I have no respect for your opinion about what is and what is not noteworthy in the literary world. And if you don't like it, tough.

Oh, Tvaulto (talk) 03:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved this help request too, from the talk page of Thomas L. Vaultonburg.
You are welcome to 'have your say' in the deletion discussion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas L. Vaultonburg.
The assessment of notability is based on the existence of multiple independent reliable sources - this is stated in my own little page WP:VRS, and see the general notability guideline.
To get more people to comment - people who know this area - we could ask the project group on poetry, so I have posted something here on the talk page of WikiProject Poetry.
I have also posted on the 'reliable sources noticeboard' here, to get more opinion.
This may or may not help with the deletion, but it's about all I can do at this stage. Please keep calm! - stick to policy-based reasoned argument, and let's see how we get on. Auto-biographical articles are always tricky. Best,  Chzz  ►  04:36, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Appreciated. would it be so hard for other editors to explain things first? Tvaulto (talk) 04:51, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I fixed the link to rsn above: Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Thomas_L._Vaultonburg - sorry about that. And to WP:AUTO.
In reply...well...Wikipedia has 10 million editors. Most people are nice and friendly, but like everywhere in life, some are not. Just...ask for help, lots. The live talk thing really is very good. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:56, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Even if it does get deleted, it's no big deal. You could ask for a copy to be put into your own user area - called usefied. You could then work on it more, add more references, and move it back if it met criteria (or, better, ask someone else to check it out).  Chzz  ►  05:00, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Archive[edit]

I've taken the liberty of moving those old warning/deletion messages into an archive; there is now a box at the top of this page which links to it. Hope this is helpful.  Chzz  ►  05:05, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for the kind words. I hope you do stay. AaronSw (talk) 14:31, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 01:02, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bad faith[edit]

I'm really puzzled as to why you think some are acting in 'bad faith'. Why? Am I one of these - do you think I'm acting in bad faith? Do you think I have some personal animus towards you or something? Why would I? Or anyone else here? What is the basis of your accusation? Dlabtot (talk) 03:20, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Vaultonburg, I'm an administrator here and I've had the duty of closing the deletion discussion (linked in the header) for the article of which yo were the subject (as you state in the discussion, and I'm happy to take your word for it). I'm afraid I've deleted the entry because I'm bound by consensus and the guidelines as they are currently written (we may hold our own opinions on those guidelines, but my hands are ties, unfortunately). You may wish to take a look at that discussion, where, out of respect for you and those who have written about you and your contributions to this project, I've provided a thorough rationale for my decision. If you, or anybody else, would like a copy of the source emailed to you, I would be happy to do so and you can contact me either via Wikipedia's email handling system or on my talk page. I hope you'll stick around to see some of the more pleasant areas of this project. Kindest regards, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:24, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback reorganization[edit]

Hello! You recently posted a Request for Feedback here. We are currently "remodeling" the Requests for Feedback system and all entries have been archived. They can be found here. Any responses or posts there, however will not be seen. If you need additional feedback or have any questions, feel free to post at my talk page, or, when it is done, the new Feedback page. Also, we encourage you to help provide feedback! - No matter how new you may be, anyone can read an article and provide constructive comments!

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to leave me a message at my talk page. You can also talk to us live, with this or this. Happy editing! Chzz  ►  07:26, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
