The materials here is essentially the account of Alhaji Uba Leader . He is a reknown personality with a large business empire in Nigeria. This work include a revelation of a journey from a small business growing to a large business conglomerate. He started with kolanut business . This Nigeria, buying several bags of the goods and bring for sale to the Northern part of the country . This gave Uba Leader the first exposure for a successful business undertaking. From small trading in kolanut he joined the service of a company of a big merchant in Kano.
The birth of Muhammudu Goronduma “Birth signals the arrivals of either a villain or a hero” (Omoloye) And in 1945, Muhammad Goranduma was born prior, on the 26th of June, 1926 as the old city of Kano was making preparation for the turbanation of its new Emir. His royal highness, Abdullahi Bayero, now late, simultaneously as far away Kofar Fada in Dawakin Kudu Local Government area. Zainab was being born into the family of Alhaji Muhammad Sani and Malama Aisha. What a great and historical coincidence, Zainab became thr mother of a great figure in the history of business in Kano. Indeed, a double joy day was it for the relatives of Alhaji Sani and his wife, they were happy for the installation of a new Emir for the ancient of Kano which has already turned the city into a festive mood and of most paramount, the birth of a child into their family fold which symbolizesd Allah’s blessing to their family. Nine month late, trouble strucked Mallam Muhammad Sani who gave up the ghost and died. Malama Aisha, Alhaji Uba Leader’s Grand Mother was rather left with sadness and hopeless as she cried for days reusing to consoled since then, life was never the same for her and her daughter Zainab . the demise of her husband devastated her that she could not but always thought of him. As she was regaining after a long while from her shocked and sorrow, she drew inspiration from the belief that human beings are from God and have to return back to Him. Hereafter, she was console and began to nurture up her daughter. Zainab grew up with other relatives in the extended family pattern. She attended a Quranic School as well as Islamic School in Dawakin kudu. At that period of time, there was in existence a common stereotyped belief among the people, especially those with Islamic faith that western education was to erode and convert them form their own religion to that of colonial masters that introduced it, for this reason going through western education was considered as waste of time which was then, substitute with Islamic education. This claim could only allow Zainab to study from Islamic school. On a Sunday, somewhere around the city of Kano, Zainab in the company. Alhaji Uba Leader was born in 1945, his birth renewed the hope the aspiration and the joy of child birth that had once been lost by Hajia Zainab, and her entire family members. New life once again bounced back into the family. Alhaji Abubakar could not hide his feelings he insisted his son should be nick-named “Uba” meaning Father. And coincidently, the son bares his grand-father’s name, Muhammadu, who his father most cherished. Happily, barely five years after Muhammadu Goranduma started the course of his journey on earth by attending an Islamic School, under the leadership of Mallam Basharu at Zaitawa Islamic School.
