A page you started (Akhu Tönpa) has been reviewed![edit]

Thanks for creating Akhu Tönpa, Upjav!

Wikipedia editor Mz7 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Please do expand the article. As it is now, it's almost like a dictionary definition, which we should avoid. Continue to add references to reliable sources to show notability (see WP:42).

Disambiguation link notification for June 30[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ó Scealláin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kernel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reference Errors on 26 August[edit]

Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:30, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Nice to meet you. How did you post the cookie template to my page? I noticed that when you did this, whatever method you used did not leave a signature, so I had to check who left the cookie. If you leave it with the Wikilove button, which I expect is a heart at the top of your interface, then that should allow you to easily leave a cookie which includes your signature. Could you tell me how you left the cookie? Thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:00, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Nice to meet you too. I just copied {{subst:cookie}} and posted it to your talk page. It left my name in the beginning of the text but not a signature. I actually didn't realize there was a WikiLove button lol. Upjav (talk) 17:38, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

WP:PERM Request[edit]

Wikipedia Accountcreators.png

After reviewing your request for the account creator right, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 18:14, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Please see Special:Diff/623474357, this has been enabled with a stipulation that it is only to be used for throttle bypass (what you were asking for), if you do not agree it will be removed. — xaosflux Talk 18:15, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I agree to only use this for throttle bypass. Upjav (talk) 18:19, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi!

Thanks for your message. Looking forward to my intro to competitive Scrabble! Our airport journey was an adventure complete with someone getting struck by a train. How was yours?

My train ride is wrapping up and I'm on the wifi right now. It's not too bad. My main question is WHAT??? were you on the train? Any news on how that person is doing? Upjav (talk) 20:03, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Page review[edit]

Got it - thanks! Most of the Al Hayrah Google entries are because of Wikipedia - for instance 'Al Hayrah hotels' is autobot stuff. There are no hotels in Heera!!!

Will request merge. Cheers! Alexandermcnabb (talk) 06:51, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Okay, cool. Thanks for setting up the merge process - it's not really my forte, and I don't know anything about Heera, so I'd rather let someone else handle it. Best of luck on your articles, and like I said, let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer you or direct you to the right place. :D Upjav (talk) 06:57, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Dealing with problem users[edit]

The first thing to do with a user causing problems is to warn them. There are a whole series of warning templates like {{uw-vandalism2}} and {{uw-delete3}}. The full list is at WP:WARN, but the most commonly-used ones are explained at WP:Vandalism#Warnings. That whole page is worth reading. The warnings mostly come in four levels: 1 = assume good faith (if it might be an innocent mistake), 2 = no AGF, 3 = if you do that again you may be blocked, 4 = if you do that again you WILL be blocked with no further warning. Very often L2 or L3 is enough.

WP:AIV is the place to report vandalism, but as you will see from the notice marked "Important" at the top, the user needs to have been warned first. Admins at AIV will normally only make a block if vandalism has persisted after a L4 warning.

Of course, that kid writing about himself was not vandalism, and after two or three repeats {{uw-create2}} would be appropriate, and go on from there. If the user persists after warnings, then what started as an innocent misunderstanding of what WP is for becomes disruptive and suitable for a report to AIV.

There is a template {{uw-autobiography}} for people who write articles about themselves, but it is rather formal and this one gave his birth date which showed, if I remember right, that he was 13, so a simpler explanation is better. WP:Wikipedia is not about YOU is quite good, and WP:Guidance for younger editors is also good to point children to. You can see what I wrote at User talk:Sergeandrei#Wikipedia is not for writing about yourself, and he seems to have got the message. The warning at the end was intended to be equivalent to Level 3. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:44, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

@JohnCD:, thanks a lot for your help and response. I'll read through all the warnings shortly and bookmark templates. I also appreciate you removing that comment from my talk page. Best, Upjav (talk) 06:05, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Good. See also WP:New pages patrol for useful advice. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 08:35, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Gino Pozzo[edit]

Hello Upjav. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Gino Pozzo, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: WP:G4 declined on a technicality: there is no Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gino Pozzo. No prejudice against nomination for any other reason. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 11:42, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

@Shirt58: - that doesn't apply for recent speedy deletions? It was just speedily deleted and then reposted with the exact same content. I linked to the deletion log in the speedy deletion tag. Upjav (talk) 03:11, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi Upjav!
As I said wrote above, it was a technical CSD decline. WP:G4 only applies to articles that have been deleted by a formal deletion discussion, most often WP:AfD. While the article may have been speedily deleted before, it wasn't a candidate for that particular speedy deletion category.
If you think the article should be deleted, I think the better discussion would be at AfD.
I hope this explains things a bit more clearly. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. account creation[edit]

Hello Upjav,

We are cleaning up some unused account creator flags. This flag is for people that need to create lots of accounts for other people on Wikipedia, normally part of the account creation team the education program, or for specific edit-a-thons

You show as inactive for this flag (0 actions in the last year), and it has been removed. If I have overlooked some other pressing need for this flag, please reply on my talk page. Please note, this will have no impact on your ability to edit anything, or create up to 5 new accounts per day for other people. Thank you and happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 22:45, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Arthur Newby[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that the page you created was tagged as a test page under section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion and has been or soon may be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Thank you. Legacypac (talk) 02:54, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:49,XXXYY[edit]

Hello, Upjav. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "49,XXXYY".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 02:47, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
