Sobre o fato do dia, infelizmente o joelho acabou com a brilhante carreira do Carles Puyol. Embora não fosse um primor de técnica, com certeza foi um grande jogador e líder. Fará muita falta ao Barça, não acha? Se não fosse as lesões, penso que ele ainda seria titular nesta defesa atual. E concordo, o Bartra tem muito potencial. Okay thank you for the explanation. And to answer what you said it is not a matter of who has been on wikipedia the longest. But the fact that you remove the perfect links to FC Barcelona and also removes the position in infobox without rational explanation and/or wikipedia policy and attempt to discuss at taökpage. You also break 3-revert rule which you should not do if it is not clear vandalism and then you continued even when you got warned and you know have 6 reverts. You will be blocked for it, but I do not want you to leave wikipedia, but I want you to learn from this and stop the crazy reverting of everyone without using edit summaries and talkpages. Hi, I can also in some degree agree with the editor that forward might be enough but he should have discussed it and/or given a policy or source for using only one. And there was definately no reson to remove FC Barcelona link in the same edit. I agree he is no vandal, but he should not revert hat much it is disruptive and he did not stop even after the warnings. Let's hope he comes back and keeps up the good work, just with a little better understanding of how to handle situations when there is a disagreement.

Basically the situation is this. In my opinion (and that of others), the Tercera Division season articles do not meet the relevant notability guidelines, and have serious WP:NOTSTATS issues. This opinion was supported in the first deletion discussion and lead to me using twinkle remove the relevant red-links. Excessive bundling and unwarranted accusations of bias in the second discussion meant that achieving consensus was impossible so the other season articles are still around. As for Secunda B, I don't think anyone ever questioned their inclusion, so the existence of links is more a result of no one really paying attention to them than anything else. I hope that clears things up.
P.S. If you do think that I've made a mistake, here or elsewhere, don't hesitate to question my editing. I am by no means infallible. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:41, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

You helped me in the past with some sources in Portuguese, and I've now got a video in the language, subtitled into English by the company that it's a video about; it's been suggested that in fact the subtitles bear little resemblance to the audio. As far as I can tell, there are no reliable sources present in the article that either verify the facts – length of ban (or ban at all); constant injuries as the reason for his not playing much; marking Rijkaard in the Cup Final – or justify opinions like "his career effectively ended there"; "one of the few bright spots"; "played a good overall game". cheers,

If you can't find any, I doubt very much if I could. You're lucky it's me. I only removed the unreliably sourced accusation of drug-test failure and tagged the unsourced rest. No, it wasn't me the anon user, but I mistook his/her "4 goals" edit for the "4 apps" (for Olympiakos) I wanted to make myself and thought he/she had already updated Pelé's stats with yesterday's match (although not supporting this club, I have a stong interest for the player being me twice a winner in betting thanks to his goals :) ). Actually, I don't think that anon user attempted to vandalise the article, even if he/she wrongly took into account a disputed own goal or 1 goal for Salgueiros in Taça de Portugal or other competition. But as you said, who knows?

I haven't warned 178.166.58.15 as they've not made any non-constructive edits since their last warning. You could refer to it as that, as long as it's clear to the reader what competition you're talking about. It wouldn't make sense to do that for a player in English football, considering the amount of domestic cup competitions we have. William Carvalho protected for one week. Those comparisons don't really work, Andy Cole would have been a better example. Sergio Busquets has his first name on his shirt, which is more common in that part of the world than, say, in Britain although Ravel Morrison has bucked that trend. Guti is shorthand for Gutierrez, which is made apparent in the opening sentence. He used to have GUTI.H on his shirt but changed it around 2007 to include the initials of his children, Aitor and Ziara. It was not the players' pages, but the Castilla page. It's a minor problem, no big deal really. He just removed the kit numbers for both players eventhough Óscar Plano started the first three matches before being loaned. I guess I'm frustrated with some edits at WP. It seems that players who on loan have an on loan from in the player boxes. Years ago, I was scolded about putting Real Madrid Castilla in the players box because Real Madrid B is better because it keeps the box look more clearer & cleaner; less clutter. And that information can be found in the article itself which makes sense. But now, the in thing to do is to have a player's current club listed as Middlesbrough (on loan from Real Madrid) in the player's box which in most cases musses up the box!! I thought that Current club meant the team the player is playing at the present time. The fact that the player is loan should be in the opening paragraph:
Tomás Mejías Osorio (born 30 January 1989) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Middlesbrough on loan from Real Madrid as a goalkeeper.
Following that logic, I will correct to list all free agents with formerly with Real Madrid C (or whatever team the player played last) like Marc Vales!
As for Gringo vs Walter Görlitz over Javier Mascherano, he has to have a reliable source like Argentina having/playing him as a defender. Fernando Hierro was a midfielder that Madrid started playing as a defender, but the Madrid website had him as a defender. Marcel Desailly was a central defender for France, but played as midfielder for A.C. Milan. This is similar to Castilla's Quini who was listed as a forward last season & now plays rightback! Too bad Denis Cheryshev is at Sevilla on loan from Real Madrid He was playing leftback for Madrid in preseason friendlies. But since the Madrid website has Quini as a defender, there's nothing that can be done. Likewise for Mascherano, Barça website has him as a midfielder. Sorry that the source I quoted isn't reliable — the most known English-language news sources don't use to mention transfers of non-elite Basque players to clubs in the Greek second league. As for my previous message, I was responded in that manner in reply to your aggressive tone (using of caps) on my page and in your edit summary.

I apologise for misinterpreting your post. There are parts of the article I would wish to tidy up but I don't want to get into an edit war so I'll explain them to you.
1. "Koke scored his first goal for Atlético", I would prefer "first goal in La Liga/Primera División" as he had previously scored in the B team and we don't have stats to tell whether he had previously scored in friendly matches. I would also say that a first goal in La Liga is a more significant milestone than the first for a club.
2. Re-instate commas after dates. Don't know why these were removed as it is the correct practice and standard English.
3. 47th minute and 90th minute without the hyphen is the standard usage.
4. Change phrasing which sounds awkward to a native English speaker. "He finished his first full season as a professional with 17 games" - "having played" should replace "with". "With" would work with "appearances" but not "games". "Matches" is preferable to "games" in BrE but I'm fine with either. "Koke was again important midfield unit" - "unit" doesn't sound right, something like "was an important member of Atléticos midfield" makes him sound like a human rather than an object.
"for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers" - doesn't work in English. "In a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match" sounds much better and more natural. "Ended in the group stage" - "ended at the group stage" (though both read worse than the more to the point "as the nation/team was knocked out at the group stage". The next sentence is a mess. "The nation" is then used again in the same paragraph and "the final" has been removed for some reason. There is also an ambiguous "it" (The nation won what? The team of the tournament?)
"in the club's successful run in the Europa League" - "in/during the club's successful Europa League run/campaign"
"helping to a 2-2 home draw" - "helping Atlético/the team to a 2-2 draw". "Helping" needs an object.
"Being the 1-1 equaliser" - a native speaker would never refer to a "1-1 equaliser".
"Assists" is a far more common term that "decisive passes".
5. Alter tabloid phrasing "found the net", "netted", "netting", "came of age" (which is particularly jarring here as the word "age" has already been used in the same sentence).
6. "Koke scored his seventh official goal of the season." What is the importance/relevance of his seventh goal? A first Champions League goal is the significant milestone here and should be foregrounded. Also, no-one ever writes about "official goals" in English unless they are talking about players with huge numbers of career goals like Pelé, Romário or Messi. Just "goal" is fine. Same with "38 of his 48 official appearances".
7. Remove unnecessary wordiness which adds nothing. E.g. "of an eventual 2-2 draw" - "of a 2-2 draw" is fine.

I just learned the sad news that User:Daemonic Kangaroo has stopped editing, and while looking up what happened, I noticed your question from a while back about Joleon Lescott on his talk page. Yesterday it was made public that he's leaving the club. The fans wish him well; his name was frequently sung loudly during the victory parade. But the reason Pellegrini didn't take to him is simple: his ability on the ball, and in particular his passing, is not Champions League level. He's one of those typical English centre halves who is great at blocks and headers and the physical stuff, but not so cultured in possession. Against a team like Stoke or Crystal Palace he is ideal. However, Pellegrini likes to play a high line at the back. In that system, teams who press from the front (like Southampton) quickly worked out that if you pressure Lescott when he has the ball, he is likely to panic and kick it long. Demichelis might turn more slowly than a pint of milk, but Pellegrini likes him because he is better on the ball. Actually, the last 3 months of the season Demichelis has really improved. Have you tried taking a break? I'm not particularly active myself these days; I've probably only made a few hundred edits in the last year. Even when I was more active though, I regularly took breaks from editing of a month or more. It definitely helped to prevent burnout. I'll never be as active as I once was, people's life priorities change, but after so much time with the project saying "never again" is a big step. Editing in small flurries every once in a while can be a nice balance.
It would take a very long time for me to run through my views on what has led the English game to become what it is :-) English players are expensive and mediocre. Last summer Andy Carroll was transferred for a bigger fee than World Cup winner Jesus Navas. Youth development here is poor, and the problem starts while they're still at school. Spain has something like 12 times as many coaches with a UEFA "A" Licence than England. Well intentioned but ultimately incompetent coaches are put in charge of kids' teams - the other week while I was running in a local park I saw a coach getting kids of about 9 years old to do press-ups! Hardly a ball in sight! There is still the mentality that big strong players play centre half (or maybe centre forward), and the small fast ones play on the wing. So we get centre backs like Terry or Lescott with poor ball skills, and brainless Forrest Gump style wingers like Lennon or Walcott. We haven't produced a proper number 10 since Paul Gascoigne. Hey, AL. There's a guy that keeps adding a section called "Notable former players" on Petrolul's page. These are common on Romanian football clubs pages, but I want Petrolul's page to look like the articles of big clubs from Europe, and they don't add that section. His coding is bad, and he added some players that were not even important to the club. I keep undoing his edits, but he can't seem to stop. Hey,this guy thinks that removing that part makes the page look like a "Big club" one. He cannot remove that part of the Petrolul page for just a few players, he can try and edit it. The Wikipedia Romania page of this club has "former players" too. This Former players just shows you the history of this club,the players which made a difference. The coding i used is from another page,Anorthosis Famagusta from Cyprus and it's made very well.

Hey, AL! I was reading the history of Petrolul on their official site and I discovered why the players are nicknamed "the wolves". It seems that their emblem depicted Romulus and Remus being breastfeed by a she-wolf. Amigo, estou pensando seriamente em me 'aposentar' também. Se não bastasse o PJ, agora tem esse Walter Görlitz para encher a minha paciência. O cara reverte tudo, sempre com alguma desculpa. Primeiro, era usar templane no artigo do Barcelona. Deixei quieto. Depois, ele dividir em duas colunas os jogadores cedidos. Novamente deixei passar. Agora ele quer transformar o Mascherano em meio-campo, sendo que nos últimos três anos eles joga exclusivamente de zagueiro. Nem preciso te dizer isso. De boa, se isso não é perseguição não sei mais. Isso cansa, cansa de verdade. Daí eu deixo essa também e logo ele vem com outra e vai seguindo. Não tenho mais um pingo de paciência. Sei que não é seu problema, estou apenas comentando. Abraço.

Height
Thanks for your note and thanks for seeking a second opinion. I would like, however, to set a couple of things straight because there are a couple of different things going on. There's the centimetres-vs-metres issue and there's the issue of how to do the conversion.
Firstly, centimetres seems to me the more common way of expressing a person's height (at least where I'm from they are). There's been a bit of discussion about this recently with a few other editors agreeing with this (e.g. on the {{height}} talk page (this being why the template now accepts centimetres)). Mattythewhite, it seems, wouldn't agree (fair enough, he's from another country ... but since he's from England where soccer is vastly more popular than it is here it seems fair to go with his opinion).
Okay, so, initially I replaced metres with centimetres but my edit also did something else. The second purpose was to made use of the infobox's internal conversion code. When you "reverted" my edit I assumed that it was because of the centimetre-vs-metre issue. (Note that it wasn't actually a reversion as such because my original edit didn't actually replace {{height}} but {{convert}}.)
I wasn't about to push the centimetre-vs-metre issue any further but still saw using the infobox's autoconversion worthwhile. So, I went back and reinstated the autoconversion, this time, however, using metres. (This is why Mattythewhite writes "I've never seen heights written as centimetres rather than metres, and his amendment didn't even make them appear as such." So, when you reverted this edit, there was no change in what was displayed on the page (it just changed the code in edit mode ... making is a bit more cumbersome).
So, the question is whether I failed to make clear what I was up to or you disagree with the idea of using the infobox's inbuilt autoconversion. P.S. Another question, whilst I'm at it, is why use {{height}} rather that the bigger, better & faster {{convert}}? {{Height}}'s a tired old relic from the bad old days when we had a different template for each different conversion, it's time for it to be retired.
Do Argentines adopt two surnames in the same fashion as Spaniards, because I really don't know? I've seen a second surname (his mother's surname) added at Lionel Messi, but the present source lists only one surname. But at Eduardo Berizzo, I think we would need a definitive source that includes his forenames and surnames altogether, instead of cobbling together a full name using multiple sources. And the reason I added 'known as...' is because he is known by his middle name, so as to avoid any confusion our readers may have as to why the title is 'Eduardo Berizzo' when the name in the lead is 'Manuel Eduardo Berizzo'. Uma coisa que ele tem é essa habilidade de 'marketing pessoal', assim como o Neymar também. E é bem verdade que parece que o pessoal de hoje em dia só vê Cristiano e Messi em campo, parece que não existem outros (muito pelo contrário, se eu fosse citar aqui os jogadores habilidosos de hoje em dia, teria que escrever até amanhã).
Isso que as pessoas que se sobressaem (principalmente jogadores de futebol) fazem é extremamente desnecessário. Ele é bom? Sim. Mas precisa gravar um documentário? Não. Precisa deixar de comemorar com seus companheiros de time (que, afinal, o auxiliam a fazer gols)? Não. In regards to your last message, I'm not user ovinod neither have a registered page hence why my IP address shows when I edit Portugal national team and its' current and past players. In the near future, you should consider taking other users opinions/edits into consideration rather than reverting their edits just because it's disrespectful and you don't think it's right or it was just fine as you mentioned to ovinod's edits. If it's not vandalism and there's good faith involved, don't revert just because it was just fine. Remember: you mentioned, Fine as it was... Therefore fineisn't perfect, there's always room for improvement. It's almost like as if you own the page I should say.

O mais legal foi ele falando para mim que as páginas deles estavam boas e sem erros, pois havia copiado as minhas e trocado os nomes e links. Brilhante! (CTRL+C e CTRL+V = página perfeita).
Acredito que a ideia dele é a seguinte: "Eu paro por quatro dias (que na verdade foram três, ele editou no dia 5 e voltou no dia 8), volto e está tudo ok." As páginas dele continuam pobres (Bidco United F.C. e Busia United Stars F.C. - sorte que essas duas outro usuário as arrumou) e, ao que me parece, ele só continua criando as páginas por causa do ranking. Cara, eu realmente não percebia o quanto a WP era ótima antes da "contribuição" do LG por aqui... Eu tenho que reverter de 10 a 20 edições DIÁRIAS dele! Ele consegue errar até na inserção das posições em campo dos jogadores!
E ele sinceramente usou o NÚMERO de páginas que ele criou para justificar o erro? Sério? Se fôssemos analisar todas as páginas dele, acho que apenas umas 200 dessas 900 e tantas ficariam na WP (sem falar que, dessas 200, umas 150 seriam as que foram melhoradas por outros usuários).
E me parece que o Cristiano não estava afim de jogar ontem, e o Pepe voltou ao seu "normal".

Per Template:Infobox football biography#Parameters, the infobox should provide "A list of clubs that the person has served with in the capacity of team manager. Please do not list positions other than team manager (such as assistant or coach positions, or director of football roles where this role is not considered managerial) unless that position is a significant part of the person's career; this will apply primarily to those with significant or perhaps primary experience in management". Personally, I never included non-managerial positions, and I don't think Oceano's positons constitute a significant part of his career, although that is debatable (the reason I don't like that passage). Quando fui ver, tudo errado de novo. O título da referência estava no trans_title, a ficha do jogo estava no EXTERNAL LINKS, além de ele ter errado nas informações do jogador (clube atual). Como se nós nunca tivéssemos o advertido sobre todas essas coisas, não? Ele quis, novamente, argumentar dizendo que havia criado 900 páginas ("brilhante, mais quais delas que você criou e ninguém te ajudou são boas, meu chapa?"), outra coisa que nós havíamos explicado a ele (não interessa quantidade aqui)... As for sourcing, I had every intention of doing that anyway. I just find it easier to work systematically, to first remove all the links and then replace them all. This is also why I've been tagging articles in which transfermarkt was the only source as unsourced. Not because I think the tag solves anything, but because it will easier to find the articles I need prioritise when I get to resourcing.

Hello, in regards to Pepe I could somewhat agree with you on that note. At the same time this isn't about winning or coming out on top of anyone, we are all here to make Wikipedia better with our contributions, and I believe having virtually all Portuguese national team players with the same intro (a Portugal international since.... etc ) is tedious and lacks originality. That is why there is a international career section and the Infobox which mentions caps, goals, etc, therefore we can avoid repetitiveness.

Hi, I just made a stub article on José Claramunt after finding a red link to his name on the list of Spanish players with over 20 caps. I find it amazing that a website with an article on practically every professional footballer ever has not yet covered a Spain international with 29 caps and a one-club career at one of Europe's elite clubs.
Anyway, in the table of his international goals, he scored two against Greece. However, this was 1973 and it was the Kingdom of Greece, with a different flag. Do you know how to change the code in the table to get the flag of the Kingdom of Greece, while maintaining the link to the Greece national team?

Na 'talk page' do jogador Giva (aqui chamado assim, lá na WP espanhola foi criado como outra coisa completamente sem noção), eu tinha escrito o nome correto do jogador (uma das minhas poucas contribuições lá). Coincido plenamente con tu análisis del FC Barcelona y de los clubes de fútbol en general. Sobre el periodismo, en España sucede lo mismo, es una pena que hayan dejado de banda la información para ponerse la camiseta de sus respectivos equipos. Los medios estatales con la bufanda del Real Madrid y los de Barcelona con la del Barça. Es vox populi que Florentino Pérez, el presidente del Madrid, cada semana desayuna con cuatro grandes representantes de la prensa española afín y junto a ellos marca la agenda mediática. El Barcelona se ha equivocado bastante últimamente, como cualquier club de fútbol con sus presidentes más o menos corruptos, pero fíjate la fiscalización que se hace del Barça. Se lanzó el falso rumor de que se dopaban, el contrato de Neymar denunciado por un sospechoso socio del Barça, la sanción de la UEFA por los contratos de menores (no conozco grandes clubes que no hagan lo mismo), etc. Y eso sin contar la tradicional rivalidad por el hecho de ser catalanes... :)
Sobre Di Stéfano, ya sabes dictadura y fútbol (Benfica y Salazar, Madrid y Franco). Pues últimamente se han desclasificado papeles oficiales de la época, concretamente del Ministerio de Deportes y de la Federación Española que indican que el contrato del Madrid era: "papel mojado" y que el contrato del Barcelona era el correcto. Ya conoces en que club acabó...
Sobre Cristiano, considero que es un fenómeno atlético, con un potente disparo y una bala encarando portería. En el resto, coincido nuevamente contigo. El personaje que se ha construido deja bastante que desear. Es el egoismo hecho persona.
Es una pena que muchos portugueses vean actualmente al Barcelona como a "rival", no solo por Cristiano, sinó también por Figo o Mourinho. En el Barça hemos tenido grandes jugadores portugueses: Baia, Couto, Figo, Deco, Simao, Quaresma. Y si a Figo la gente lo "odia" tanto es porque primero lo quiso muchísimo. Es como una mujer que te abandona y encima lo hace con el vecino con el que te llevas mal. Y Mourinho se formó en el Barcelona al lado de Bobby Robson, también hay un lío de amor no correspondido... jajaja

Estou "monitorando" as edições do LG, mas cara, ao que me parece, ele fica rondando a WP toda só para achar páginas tão ruins quanto às dele, e então editar alguma coisa (que não vai mudar em nada a página em si) e falar no edit summary: "Está vendo, o inglês dessa página é tão ruim quanto o das minhas" ou "olha, o cara aqui cometeu o mesmo erro que eu". Na minha opinião, isso é irritante e indiscreto/indelicado, além de terrivelmente feio (justificar seus erros apontando os dos outros). Abraços, MYS77✉ 01:17, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

"Links" and references
A reference is a link to a reliable published source, ideally an accurate one, that verifies the fact(s) it comes after. What matters is whether the reference used verifies the content, not what it looks like. Stats databases – the things you disparagingly call "links" – are generally better for verifying statistical stuff because statistical stuff is their field of expertise. That single BDFutbol page verifies not only the fact that he only played once for Lemona in Segunda B, but also that he never played for anybody else at that level or higher. Which makes it an ideal reference for the content it sits after.

What people do in public life outside or after whatever made them notable can be encyclopedic, as long as it's not unduly personal or trivial, or written about in excess detail while their notable career is neglected.
