Orphaned non-free image File:Logo of Grok company.png[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Logo of Grok company.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:44, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Stephan2: I apologize in advance if this is not the proper place to respond to your notice. The cited png file is effectively used in the Grok (company), in the summary/vignette on the top right of the page. The image file is therefore NOT orphaned, and hence shouldn't be deleted. AFAIK, the claim of fair use is justified, let me know if that is not the case. --Veillet (talk) 17:15, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Veillet, I've removed the image. I see you are responsible for moving Numenta to Grok (company), even though the press release claiming the company changed its name has been taken down, as well as its website. The official company name, however, is still Numenta, not Grok. The name "Grok" is now used solely for their product, not for the company name. Recently, @Mr. Granger: and @BusterD: have reverted a new user who tried to cleanup this mess. Viriditas (talk) 04:32, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Viriditas, my bad, I had missed the beat in March 2014 when the company reverted its name back to Numenta... Indeed the Grok logo isn't necessary. I tought of adding the bit of trivia about the short-lived Grok [as company] name to the Numenta page, but that would only add to the confusion (see for e.g. http://numenta.com/technology/blog/navigating-names-at-numenta.html). - No worries. I'm just trying to fix it. Perhaps you can weigh in with this material and add a support or oppose at the requested move discussion I've initiated over at Talk:Grok_(company)#Requested move. Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 21:59, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
