Re-booting Magic WikiProject[edit]

I'm contacting you because you are listed as a participant at the Magic WikiProject. There is a draft for a new version of the main project page up for discussion and I would welcome your comments or suggestions. I wrote the draft because I was encouraged to try to do something to breathe some life back into the project and also to address some long standing problems that seem to dog it. The draft is posted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Magic/draft magic project page. Since starting to edit at Wikipedia in February I've contributed 25 new articles to the Magic project and added material to many more. I would really like to see this thing get going again but I need at least a few people to give some sign of encouragement if I am to continue. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Munster High School.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Munster High School.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:08, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Magic secrets - discussion underway[edit]

Hi! As a member of the Wiki magic project, I thought you might be interested in contributing to a discussion about magical secrets on Wikipedia. There has already been agreement as to the removing of unsourced magic secrets, as detailed here. However, I think consensus needs to be reached as to what should be done after the secrets are removed. Should the secret be placed on the talk page? Or is just a comment as to why the secret was removed sufficient? The discussion is taking place at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Magic#Removing the method - what next?, and if you are able to take part, that would be great.

Thank you! StephenBuxton (talk) 11:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Adoption[edit]

Hello VerballyInsane,

I saw you were looking into adoption! I'd like to offer myself to help you out! Being an experienced editor, with several successful articles and many edits, I thought I would be a good choice! I love to work with new users; they have so much potential! I know how it feels to be a newbie in the ever so confusing Wikipedia. I'm working on a New Users program and I would be so happy to work with you. Before you accept, you might want to look over the adoption guidelines and understand:

  • Forever. Once experienced, an Adoptee will be able to graduate, though likely to stay in touch with their Adopter.
  • A social club. Though fun, Adoption is there to help users use and improve Wikipedia.
  • Just for the newest of users. It is also for users with limited experience who want to expand their involvement.
  • A shield. Adoptees remain solely responsible for their behavior.

There are many benefits to adoption and I'm glad you'd like to get involved. If you're interested, please drop me a line!

Thank you, mono 00:32, 24 March 2010 (UTC)--mono 00:32, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Brunch... mmm...[edit]

Sorry about that, my internet must have been screwy or something. When I clicked on the link for every reference, I got a "page not found" or some variation therein. My apologies. ALI nom nom 20:03, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

'Sall good. I was removing the {{hangon}} (there was no CSD tag) and noticed that the links worked, so removed {{Dead link}} while I was at it. =) Love the section title. VerballyInsanet|c 20:07, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
If only I could have been eating brunch whilst this was going on... curse you time zones! Why must you confine me to an afternoon snack for the time being? You can't force me to wait until brunch comes around again! I won't have it! I'll eat it right now.
Anyways, thanks for cleaning it all up. ALI nom nom 20:22, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

List of Kevin 11: Ultimate Alien Episodes[edit]

Sorry to have supplanted your PROD tag; I found this was a group of entries about the same non-notable web content and figured I might as well delete the group all at once. I think we agreed about the ultimate destination, but I apologize for overruling your sensible judgment about the path. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:20, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. =) I wasn't sure if CSD would qualify, so I figured I'd just PROD it. By the way, the user who created them had a name implying a COI. Not sure if you noticed or not. VerballyInsane 22:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm happy that you're not affronted; I always hesitate before substituting my judgment for others'. I did note the COI implication but figured that this might well be an inexperienced young person -- I figured I was getting close to BITE-iness already by polishing off the whole related group so quickly, so I thought I'd just let it alone. template fix[edit]

Not only do I agree that bullets are better (in {{New editor advice}}), that was my intention, and I'm embarrassed that I totally missed it was not converting * to bullet. It was my first template, and I was struggling to see how they worked, and missed the improper rendering.

FYI, I also made a shorter version {{NEA}}, which originally invoked the full length name, but I couldn't quite get it to work properly, so I hard-coded it. I made the change there as well. Thanks.--SPhilbrickT 21:04, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey, no problem! Face-smile.svg I'll make {{NEA}} a redirect to {{New editor advice}}. When a template redirects, it just works the same way. =) VerballyInsane 04:46, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that works better than what I was trying to do. I've added some documentation. Thanks for the help.--SPhilbrickT 13:41, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Munster High School.gif[edit]

Wiki Loves Pride 2014[edit]

Hi VI. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:53, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride![edit]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!
