Kennan-Lukacs[edit]

Dear Vints

The book is an series of letters between George F. Kennan and John Lukacs, so I suppose you could listed it in either the publications or reference section. I placed in the reference section because I am not entirely sure if Kennan ultimately wanted his letters to Lukacs published, and secondly it was Lukacs who edited his correspondence. An search through the library database shows Lukacs listed as the primarly author, and Kennan listed as the secondary author. For my money, I would place this book in the reference section. I hope I have answered your concerns.

Have an nice day!

Yours Sincerely A.S. Brown 12:34, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So maybe neither is really good. According to the discussion at Citing sources is should be under "Further reading" or "Bibliography". "Sources that were not consulted by editors working on the article should be listed in a 'Further reading' section." I suppose the Publications section is only for the books Kennan wrote. Main Page Featured Article[edit]

Hello, I noticed you added Global Warming to the mainpage featured article template for June 16, this has now been reverted as it is not the procedure that is taken to place these articles on the main page. If you wish to suggest an article for the main page, please go to Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests and request its placement there. Thank You. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 13:13, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I get it, only Raul654 can schedule the articles on the main page.Vints 13:44, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the current procedure. -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 14:05, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Allende/Pinochet[edit]

Hello Vints, I see that you appear to agree with my opposition to Mike18xx's edits on the Allende page. If you have the time, I encourage you to visit and weigh in on the current debate on the Pinochet page. Thanks. --(Mingus ah um 19:45, 20 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

You helped choose Mark Twain as this week's WP:AID winner[edit]

Thank you for your support of the Article Improvement Drive.
This week Mark Twain was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help.

how to find whether a post/edit is copy violation?[edit]

Hi,

I just noticed you reverted our old anonymous contributor on the Allende talk page. I had the same suspicion last night that his post was probably a direct copy of someone else's work. But I just couldn't find the original page. How did you do it?--Caranorn 12:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just took one sentence and googled it with quotation marks.[1] It seems that the anonymous user has been active on Left-wing politics and some related articles lately.Vints 16:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chilean edits[edit]

Hello, Vints, since you have made several edits to articles about Chile, you may be interested in looking at the Wikipedia:Chile-related regional notice board to pick up on other topics that need attention, or to express needs which you perceive pertaining to Chile. wacht my article on The attic on melodifestivalen 2007 and remove the deltion thing if its ok./matrix17

Hi Vints! You might be interested in taking part in the discussion here concerning the necessity, IMO, to establish some sort of guidelines about the use of the term "dictator" on Wikipedia. Cheers! Tazmaniacs 13:43, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious: did you change the pic of Julia Fischer because of the quality of the pic or because it was up there so long. In concerts she looks more like the pic I took then a pic took during a photo session... — Mariah-Yulia (talk) 18:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I changed because I think she looks better in that image. In the other pic she looks somewhat tired. Vints (talk) 17:54, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well I took the pic "in which she looked tired" during a signing autographs session right after a concert. So that's means she is not slacking during concerts :) — Mariah-Yulia (talk) 18:10, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see:) I just saw her concert on TV and I'm translating the article to the Swedish WP. Vints (talk) 18:35, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! She deserves that :) — Mariah-Yulia (talk) 19:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Circular Segment[edit]

Hello Vints,

about your question on this article, I had changed the image for two reasons. First of all the Circle segment.jpg image is a copy of the picture of a Wolfram article ([[2]]) which I think is copyrighted ([[3]]). Second, the illustration of the circular segment being a drawing, Wikipedia image policy recommands the usage of SVG file over JPEG. Sbesson (talk) 15:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I changed back to your image. It is however not a circle but an ellipse. If there is a copyright problem with the other picture it should be reported to Commons and deleted. Vints (talk) 20:13, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for you comment. Effectively, it was an ellipse and not a circle and I just modified the figure Sbesson (talk) 21:44, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
