Welcome to Wikipedia! Glad to see you on the List of Wikipedians; just thought I'd give a plug out for Wikipedia:Help desk, in case you needed anything. Anyway, good luck, and you can read more about Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ. Yours, Meelar 17:53, 25 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Meelar, I look forward to contributing to the Wikipedia community.--Vsb 06:05, 29 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note: the user was creating indefblocked pages for users that have actually been indefinitely blocked. You may want to investigate the block logs. Thanks. theProject 06:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, when a user gets indefinitely blocked, usually there's a template that gets put up on their user page to say that they've been indefinitely blocked. Yiyicy was creating these user pages and putting in this indefinitely blocked message template. That's a large part of why the pages Yiyicy was creating had usernames like "Iamgay" -- because usernames like that are usually blocked on sight as an inappropriate username.
When you do recent changes patrol, try clicking on the link labelled (diff) to make sure that the edit you claim is vandalism is actually vandalism, to ensure something like this doesn't happen again. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks! theProject 06:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copy-and-pasted from new UCD navbox template discussion page[edit]

Hi, I see you've retrofitted my template design (originally for UCSC) for Davis. I'm quite flattered. However, there's one thing I have to warn you about. The UCs' official seals are copyrighted by the Regents, and it is only compliant with Wikipedia's fair use policies to use the seals in the main, "mother" articles fo each of the UCs. The image slot on my design initially held UCSC's "Fiat Slug" unofficial logo (which I love) -- until I got this same warning that I'm now passing on to you.
If you would like any help in making this template Davis-specific (e.g., changing the blue-and-gold coloring from Santa Cruz's official shades to Davis's, etc.), just drop me a line on my user page. --Dynaflow 11:53, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My beautification crusade has moved from the UC template (territory status: conquered) and turned back towards the original UCSC template. I've come out with a new version. Take a look. --Dynaflow 03:49, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. Now that we've gotten the pre-existing UCD template up to snuff, I'm going to delete the experimental one. If you have any sort of sentimental attachment to it and don't want it put to sleep just yet, let me know quick, and I'll request a stay of execution. --Dynaflow 08:00, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I briefly thought about using that template as the main one, but then I realized that, not only is "Template:UC Davis" easier to type out than "Template:University of California, Davis," but all the UC Davis articles (including the UCDFD article now, are currently tagged with the former.--Dynaflow 17:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

California Aggie article[edit]

Trident13: I have tagged The California Aggie page with hangon - please see my discussion in the talk page. --Vince |Talk| 21:06, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Happy to let this go from speedy to notability (now tag'd), to give you time to build the article - so that will be about two weeks. You need to build in more information and references. A notable newspaper it may be, but a one liner entry doesn't pass WP:notability. Good Luck! Regards, - Trident13 21:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was just adding your UCDFD article to UCD's main category when I noticed you left in the 1971 establishment date in the Infobox from my UC Santa Cruz Fire Department article. I'm not sure, and I'm too lazy to go hunting for the information, but I believe the UCDFD dates to the World War II era or before. The info is likely somewhere on their web site. [Edit] I just read the actual text of the article and [durp], you already have it right there. I'll fix the template. =) Also, any chance you can find an image of their logo to add to the article? --Dynaflow 14:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on EMILY's List Australia, by ExtraDry (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because EMILY's List Australia is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting EMILY's List Australia, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:39, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Image on Pitcher Plant[edit]

Hi Vsb. I'm sorry if I was hasty in removing your image. As far as Nepenthes variability goes, these two images show relatively similar traps. In my opinion, the current image better illustrates the subject as it has a higher resolution and a blurred background with no distracting elements. Your addition of the image also left a lot of white space in browsers such as Internet Explorer. Finally, there are already two images of Nepenthes in the article, and none for Heliamphora, Brocchinia, or Catopsis. Regards, Mgiganteus1 18:21, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About stupid analogy[edit]

I really cant see any relationship between drivers licence and gunpermit, in Finland or anywhere else.

Also I cant see any need to include every single paragraph of every single newspaper-article claiming that its "part of the history of this event".

Then it might also be proper to include fact that drivers under 20-years caused 59 deaths in year 2006 http://www.ess.fi/Article.jsp?article=148322&category=1162&main=1162 - as you can see, thats also cited in media. --91.153.17.140 (talk) 05:39, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow you are fast![edit]

I just refreshed and saw the vandalism made to 29th Commando Regiment Royal Artillery and noticed you had already reverted before I could even press 'rollback' on Twinkle. Damn you are fast! nice work.--Vince | Talk 08:03, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thats kinda thanks to Lupin, who gives me a little neat diff that immediately shows if there is vandalism or not. Thanks a lot for the compliment though :) --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 08:05, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I used to do everything by hand with newbs contributions in one window, templates in another, and user pages for warnings in another, but I recently switched to Twinkle. Would lupin work with twinkle, or replace it?
  • Lupin and twinkle work along just fine, Personally i use lupin for reverting and warning, but twinkle really shines when reporting vandals to AIV. Personally i never used twinkle to its full extend since i was a lupin user before i ever used twinkle, so i dont really know its full potentional, but as i always say: The more tools to revert vandalism, the better :) --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 08:11, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:R gui on os x.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:R gui on os x.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:00, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Vsb! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,095 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
