Vodka eyeballing[edit]

That was a total waste of my time. You could have looked, with one click of a button, at the previous version of the article. I assume that as a GA reviewer you're capable of recognizing utter crap when you see it. Drmies (talk) 23:08, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

A Little Late But...[edit]

I know that this is very late, but I wanted to give you something for getting rid of the meaningless number and image entries in Wikipedia:N things not to write your article about. After your repeated deletion of the bizarre pile of nonsense, the article actually seemed to retain a bit of humor. Plus, those "12-cube" images gave me headaches. Pittsburgh consulates[edit]

Hi there! I noticed a recent edit (deletion) of yours [[1]]. While a discussion of this data's place on the main article (other than it's very own article), the extent and detail of the information or the proper way to categorize "honorary" consulates would be appropriate a complete deletion is puzzling. The justification of "non-notable" and "per Wikipedia is not a directory" confuses since within just a few minutes both of these articles appear in any basic search:[2] [3]

I realize that Pgh is not Atlanta or New York, and honorary consulates are not quite consul generals, but those would best be points for the talk page prior to complete deletion for reasons other than vandalism or non-verifiablity. Your input and expertise is appreciated however cited relevant data like this is best restored and discussed since only a seemingly misapplied (or misunderstood by other city's articles) wikipolicy is the cause for deletion. I look forward to your thoughts, concerns and future efforts on this matter. MarketdiamondMarketDiamond 04:25, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

I removed this per WP:NOT, and because all it's really doing is listing marginally-trivial information that isn't really about Pittsburgh itself, but rather about some offices of foreign governments in the city. That's akin to listing every location of McDonald's or Walmart in an article, which is neither necessary nor appropriate. The article is also very long, and having a list with information not relating to Pittsburgh itself is unnecessary and contributing to the increased length of the article. If you feel it must be added for some reason, follow the example of Atlanta and create an article List_of_diplomatic_missions_in_Pittsburgh. WTF? (talk) 13:59, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Appreciate your fast reply, I disagree with the WP:NOT and triviality however I do agree on limiting more extensive data on the Pgh main article. I feel adding the topic line and a link to the new article about consulates will be appropriate for the Pgh article with all other data going on a separate article. good faith re-addition of image to article[edit]

Hi Wiki.Tango.Foxtrot, you revs the image Flip-Flops socks.jpg in Flip-flops and Toe socks. This pictures were deleted some time before with the comment "design" resp. with no comment, but it is relevant for both lemmata, because it has directly reference to Flips-flops and to Toe socks to. --Neptuul (talk) 20:45, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

??? --Neptuul (talk) 10:05, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I do not understand what you mean by "lemmata"? The images were primarily removed from the two articles in question not necessarily because they were not relevant, but more because the articles in question are very short (or in the case of flip-flops, the section there the image is most relevant is very short. So images had to be removed due to over-crowding. With respect to the toe socks article, I think an example of the five-toed socks are better, since that represents a more classic example. Also, the socks with the single tab have origins to the Japanese tabi socks, so I think that those are more relevant to that example than your image. I suppose you could make an argument that your image is a better example for the flip-flops article, since those socks were specifically designed to be worn with flip-flop sandals. However, I think the angle that the picture I kept there is better (as someone else took the photo) than the angle in the other photo (which is a self-shot, taken with the camera pointing at one's own feet).
I do see that the image is still used in the sock, although there are currently 8 images in that article, too, so as that article is worked on, some of those images will very likely be removed as well. We have to remember that we're working on an encylopedia here. While pictures are helpful, too many pictures are distracting, and often not necessary. However, maybe many of them can be moved to the Wikimedia commons and linked to the articles using an interwiki link. WTF? (talk) 16:07, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
"I suppose you could make an argument that your image is a better example for the flip-flops article, since those socks were specifically designed to be worn with flip-flop sandals." - That's right and compatible to an encyclopedia, so it should be change with the five-toed socks, wich is nice but here on the wrong place. The disign of sock is really not the best example by design. --Neptuul (talk) 08:04, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Barefoot running[edit]

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Barefoot running you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. Time2wait.svg This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Viriditas (talk) 10:05, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

There have been a number of issues brought up in Viriditas's GA review, but I don't see any sign that they are being addressed. Can you please give this some attention as soon as possible? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of Walmart logos[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article List of Walmart logos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The list does not present anything not already presented in the main Walmart article; not long enough to warrant a separate page.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  dalahäst (let's talk!) 17:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of Walmart logos is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 18:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

August 2012[edit]

Please don't blank and/or unilaterally redirect articles that are the subject of an active AfD. Per WP:GD: You should not turn the article into a redirect. A functioning redirect will overwrite the AFD notice. It may also be interpreted as an attempt to "hide" the old content from scrutiny by the community. Please allow the AfD to run out; if you as the author of the nominated page have a desire to see the page deleted or merged, please state so in the discussion and allow an admin to close it properly. Also please assume good faith of other Wikipedia editors; there is no cabal. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:07, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

The "Wikipedia Cabal"[edit]

Hey. I noticed you, like many new users, have gotten the impression that there is a "Wikipedia Cabal". There is no cabal. Generally, the reason editors perceive the existence of a cabal is because they focus their efforts almost entirely on the editing and creation of articles, and nothing more. This is by all means a noble task, but if you never give the other pages a second glance, you may miss out on important discussions (in which you can take part!), policies, and other things that can actually help you to edit better (and you seem to be familiar with the Manual of Style already, which is great). The "cabal effect" happens when someone who is not especially familiar with some policy or another gets called out on it, has a page they started deleted because of it, etc. They see everyone else going against them and, well, yeah. It happened to me back when I first signed on, too. We know it happens, and we don't like it, but it is difficult to avoid.

You might be interested in the Teahouse, a recent project that provides a warm, friendly environment geared towards helping new editors, as well as anyone else who needs a spot of help in learning how to do something, what policy X is for, how to use template Y, and so on. Myself and, what, about 40–50 other editors, if memory serves, are the "hosts" there. You're more than welcome to come by and ask any of us questions. Alpha Phi Omega[edit]

Given the *extreme* flux right now at the APO National web page, I wanted to wait about a week before making any changes and then for anything I couldn't find, I was going to shift to that link on , since the Alpha Phi Omega page was being copied there. (See*/ I'm glad you did find the external links... Also the last three years of Torch and Trefoils are available at , just click on Torch and Trefoils... I'll see what I can find out in regards to the Chapter bulletins no longer being up... There are links from the previous version of the site on some of the other Wikipedia articles as well.Naraht (talk) 20:49, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Red Mountain in Arizona[edit]

Red Mountain (Arizona) is an extinct volcano northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona. I live in Phoenix and went there last summer and was looking for more information about its composition. It is listed in the List of Volcanoes in Arizona, but the page redirects to the page on Red Mountain (aka "FireRock" or Mount McDowell) on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Reservation north of Mesa. This is incorrect, as they are not the same. The "Red Mountain" in Mesa named Mount McDowell is not a volcano, and the volcano Red Mountain is up by Flagstaff. I have good photos of the Red Mountain volcano from the trailhead to it, and inside the crater (which is really cool), if you would like to create a page for it and use them. Contact me, Tyger Gilbert at and I will send copies of them to you.

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre[edit]

Good Article Recruitment - Completion Award.png
Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)[edit]

Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.

Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!

If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Thanks for uploading File:Slashdot screen capture.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 03:07, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Cleanup tags[edit]

Adding a cleanup tag to an article is no different from any other edit on Wikipedia. When your addition is disputed, you must go to the talk page and get a WP:CONSENSUS for the addition of the tag. You are currently edit-warring against consensus, two serious matters. Please do not continue to do so. Get a consensus on the talk page in favor of the tag, and there will be no problem. Until then, the tag is simply your opinion, and since the addition of the tag is disputed, it must remain off of the article. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:41, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
