Disambiguation link notification for July 6[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Guangdong, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Guandong (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Signature[edit]

Hi WikiWinters, would you mind changing your signature a bit so it doesn't look exactly like mine? If you want I can help you design one of your own to personalize it to you. —  dainomite   15:14, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

@Dainomite: Absolutely! My apologies! I was going to let you know that I changed mine to look like yours, but I assumed it was a standard template that many people had. I especially liked the contrast between the specific shade of blue that's in it and the black. The diagonal, wave-like edges are also appealing. Also, the font is sleek. What do you think I could do to keep these appealing features while distinguishing it from yours? Thank you very much. —  WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智   15:18, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, I'm flattered that you like it so much. Well there's more than one way to skin a cat per say. Here's some signature stuff I've worked on before and sorta kept around for if i ever want to go back and tinker with my signature, User:Dainomite/sig work. —  dainomite   17:12, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dainomite: After a while of messing around with CSS with a bit of help from W3Schools, I came up with these three variants:
 WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智
 WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智
 WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智
(You might have to preview them on another page due to the automatically bold "Winters.") I might do some final touches, but which do you think is the most aesthetically appealing? And, most importantly, is it easily distinguishable from yours now? Thanks! — WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  22:52, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
They all look good, but.... with having a white background you can't have super bright font color for "Wiki" due to WP:CONTRAST. I recommend using Snook's color contrast tool to find out what color combinations work with one another. Basically having a white background you have to have dark/darker font colors. with having a dark background you have light/lighter font colors. I tweaked the markup on your last one to save precious characters because having 2x 'font-weight:bold' is 32 characters, compared to just six characters per my tweak. —  dainomite   03:19, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dainomite: OK, how about now?
 WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智
I changed the color values to simply the words "black" and "white" to make for fewer characters, but I think it still is too long. — WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  14:09, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Yeah that's showing 256 characters and you can only have 255. So you can take off the at the front and it should work. I tweaked it a bit and I think these version looks more crisp, but it's up to you.

Uh oh, I have another dilemma:
 WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智
@Dainomite: I thought I'd add the final touch of a matching Chinese font (SimHei; the word "simhei" is the same number of bytes as "黑体," so changing it to Latin letters wouldn't help the situation), but the new tags added more bytes than are allowed.  WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  22:22, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah you're going to have to find something to remove to get it to fit. I would suggest trimming the second span tag for the chinese characters, it makes the chinese characters look really blurry to me.... but that's up to you and how much you care about how those chinese characters look.
WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  = 251 characters. you can trim 6 more characters by not making it bold.....
WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  (with bold removed)
Regards, —  dainomite   03:29, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dainomite: OK, I can make do with that. One last question, do you think the bold or regular looks better, and do you think I should add a "—" at the beginning? I know it's my personal preference, but you have great taste. Other than that, thank you very much for your help! I'm incredibly grateful.  WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  12:57, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
I think without the dash looks better honestly :) —  dainomite   04:56, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dainomite: Oh, and one more thing while you're here: will my talk page be automatically archived or do I have to do it manually? Thanks again!  WikiWinters ☯ 韦安智  12:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
You can manually do it or setup something for a bot to do it. I've done both. I like manual archiving because then I can delete the messages I don't care for, where as when bots automatically archive it they don't discriminate on what they archive. —  dainomite   04:56, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
