KISS[edit]

Thanks for fixing interwiki. Please note also that Irish is not an official language yet, but it will be from 1.1.2007 on. Check the arrangement I made for it at the template.--Michkalas 14:42, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now everything is OK. Thanks for the cooperation. And remember to change it again on 1.1.07.... :-)--Michkalas 16:30, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Virtual classroom[edit]

I've set up the Virtual classroom (VC), which is a forum for the discussion of advanced Wikipedia skills. It differs from the help forums on Wikipedia in that major topics of discussion are scheduled and once started remain continuous.

The reason I'm contacting you is because one of the class assignments is a comparison of our user interfaces. A lot can be learned from individual users, who usually have developed their own ways of doing things. I noticed you are an expert programmer, so you no doubt have some tricks up your sleeve. I'm hoping that you will stop by and share and compare the interfaces you use when browsing and working on Wikipedia. I've also constructed a tools page which presents everything learned from these discussions, and it is growing -- there are some pretty powerful techniques on there now. Even Interiot, Rich Farmbrough, and CBDunkerson have stopped by the VC to show off their tools and methods. It's been a lot of fun, and you are invited. The interface topics are called:

I look forward to seeing you there and to learning your wikiways. Sincerely,  The Transhumanist    23:38, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo Metallica.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Logo Metallica.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 02:39, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo Metallica.svg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo Metallica.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. RFC on the conduct of a user[edit]

Since you seem to be interested on aragones/catalan history, and since you edited Coat_of_arms_of_Catalonia next to the user I opened the RFC on, I thought that you would be interested on Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Sclua. Feel free to comment there --Enric Naval (talk) 18:09, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Audrey Tautou[edit]

That's a cool picture and actually looks like her. Betty Logan (talk) 02:48, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You better keep an eye on this, an anonymous editor keeps removing it from the article on the grounds that it is not appropriate. I disagree so have restored it a couple of times but it's probably a good idea to keep an eye on it in case he comes back and removes it again. Betty Logan (talk) 13:48, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish quarter en:Saragossa images[edit]

Hello! Can you, please, help with my desperate need to get images of former Jewish quarter (Spanish: call) in Saragossa usable in Wiki? I need it for ru:Крескас, Хасдай = es:Hasdai Crescas. Great thanks! --lkitross (talk) 11:25, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the best start is here: tarbut sefarad Zaragoza, they probably know it all. Then: Judeira Antica Zaragoza (the text in Spanish, but shall ask my daughter or you to translate), Remains of Jewihs baths, more is here: Zaragoza Jewish Quarter, Aragon Pyrenees and here (seems to be on Tarazon): video. I would also wanmt to know, who was the author of painting "St. helena interrogates Judas, a Jew" in the Saragosa Art Museum, you can read about it here: REPRESENTACIONES PICTÓRICAS DE LOS JUDÍOS EN ARAGÓN, SIGLOS XIII AL XV. It is a lot to ask, but even one-two good pictures of Judeira will be fine. And you also can load it yourself, which keeps any license you want. Great thanks, Levi --lkitross (talk) 17:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And if it is possible to ask the Art Museum by phone, who and when painted Saint Helena interrogates Judas, a Jew? Only if it is easy, I do not want to be too cheeky and pushy. Possibly you can understand exact data from the Spanish article itself: REPRESENTACIONES PICTÓRICAS DE LOS JUDÍOS EN ARAGÓN, SIGLOS XIII AL XV. --lkitross (talk) 11:37, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You readiness for help is too good to be true! Thansk a lot. But when I started the third round of searches I found it! See MEDIEVAL REMNANTS OF THE JEWS IN SPAIN. It says:

The dark side is visible in many paintings too. A large, extraordinarily dramatic panel painting called “St. Helena Interrogating Judas,” by Miguel Jiménez and Martín Bernat around 1485-87, just a few years before the expulsion, depicts a legendary scene in which St. Helen questions a kneeling and weeping Jewish man who is believed to know where the true cross of Jesus is buried. This supposedly happened a thousand years earlier, but the luxurious clothing styles of St. Helen and others who crowd the picture are contemporary; the unfortunate detainee wears a dark cloak as per governmental regulations of the time. Ms. Mann notes that this updating of an old legend would have been understood as an allusion to the Inquisition.

So the authorship is established.--lkitross (talk) 13:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
More data: SARAGOSSA. The Jewish Quarter From the time of Muslim rule until the eve of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, the Jewish quarter in Saragossa continued to be situated within the city walls of the Roman period, in the southeastern section. It was formerly larger than during the final years of the Jewish settlement in Saragossa. The judería no longer exists. Its location was at the back of today's Ramiro I hotel, between the Seminar of San Carlos and Magdalena Place. There was "the enclosed" judería, and there was a second one, the new one, outside the Roman walls. The old Jewish quarter was surrounded by the Roman walls and an inner wall that separated it from the Christian districts. This quarter had six gates. It center was in today's Santo Dominguito street, which led to the Gate of the Judería. The fortress of the Jews, the slaughter-house, the Great Synagogue and the hospital were located there. In the fortress there was a prison for Jews and Muslims. As a result of the growth of the community, by the end of the 13th century a new Jewish quarter was established. This new quarter, situated to the south of the old one, between the Coso and San Miguel streets, has preserved its medieval features more or less. This quarter is known as Barrio Nuevo. The buildings of the community included a series of synagogues: the Great Synagogue (Mayor) in San Carlos place, the Small Synagogue (Menor), the Engravers' Synagogue (which appears to have been known as the Bikkur Ḥolim synagogue), the Synagogue of Cehán, the Synagogue of Bienvenist, and the Synagogue of Hevrat Talmud Torah. The only Jewish building that has remained is that of the Jewish Baths, found in Coso, nos 132–136. The community representatives were accustomed to meet in the Aljaferia fortress situated outside the city when they elected their leaders and officials. During the 14th century the king maintained a zoological garden in one of its wings, and the community was responsible for the feeding of the animals.lkitross (talk) 00:50, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to events: bot, template, and Gadget makers wanted[edit]

I thought you might want to know about some upcoming MediaWiki & Wikimedia developers' events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, extending functionality with JavaScript, the future of mw:ResourceLoader and Gadgets, the new Lua templating system, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out Chennai event in March, the Berlin hackathon in June, the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC, or any other of our events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator Sumanah (talk) 14:26, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Custom signature fix needed[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
