However, I don't think Sodom exists in a tangible form any longer.
Wilts Council says in its thumbnail history of Dauntsey that Sodom "once existed, but now remain(s) only in the names of farms, houses and roads."
The area is well mapped by Google, both from the air and with Street View. If you travel from Dauntsey Green over the M4 and down the length of Sodom Lane you'll find no signs with Sodom on - either delineating the start of a hamlet or direction signs to it. There are a number of houses and farms, but they all have postal addresses in Dauntsey or Chippenham. There's also Old Sodom Lane - now a cul-de-sac in Dauntsey since the M4 sliced it in two - and a farm track the other side of the motorway.
I don't disagree that there was a hamlet called Sodom - but it's long gone in any official capacity. It's quaint that the OS still plots it, but it clearly means nothing to the Council or Post Office. Best wishes Guffydrawers (talk) 20:55, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

I disagree with your reversal of my entry (Somerford) to Wiltshire towns list.
- That's because Somerford is not on any official list of Wiltshire places. Mostly we use the Ordnance Survey list, which was used to make List of United Kingdom locations. Try searching for Somerford at this Ordnance Survey website - several places found, none in Wiltshire. Wire723 (talk) 12:11, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
I am transcribing UK census information and if I find a town mentioned in the census that does not appear on the list, I will search for its existence and, if I find it, I will add it. What does it have to do with an ordnance survey? That is not mentioned on the page and seems irrelevant.
- Can you point me to census data for the town of Somerford, Wiltshire? Wire723 (talk) 11:20, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to this article. I anticipate adding to this over the next few weeks - it clearly still needs work - with a view to getting it up to WK-GA standard. All help gratefully received. RedSquirrel (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
EH is plainly wrong about date the Neptune Statue was moved - this photo, which judging from the bomb damage is post-war, shows it very much still in place in Temple St: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brizzlebornandbred/2054720608. The 1949 move was to the Quay Head, so EH is also out of date when it says it was moved to its present site at that time - it was moved from the Quay Head to its current location, near Baldwin St, during the millennium remodelling.
