A Fail and a Half

Just tried deleting WP:BW. What a failure that was.

MfD nomination of Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/BioWare

Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/BioWare, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/BioWare and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/BioWare during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 11:34, 4 November 2009 (UTC)}}

Despite those links being blue (for me, anyway), it's not showing up on MfD as anything but a red link. Help? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 11:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

It's appearing at the top of MfD for me. Hey, didn't know you had a BioWare project. I might even want to join. BlazerKnight (talk) 11:52, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Really? That's... weird. If you want to e-mail me (see my user page), I can show you that it's still a red link for me. As for WP:BW, it was too far, too fast and it sucks. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 11:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
PhantomSteve has commented so I suppose it's working for them too. Here's my screenshot for proof. Anyway don't be so hasty in deleting it, Dragon Age: Origins will probably attract more members, you probably just need to get the word out more. Consider withdrawing your nom. Also, no need to leave me talkback for Xeno's talk page, I have it watched. BlazerKnight (talk) 12:08, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
It's now showing up on mine too. Weird. And I have said that I may consider recreating it one day, but right now it's in a very sorry state and no-one seems to have the time and/or ability to give it a kick in the rear. As for the TB template, I thought you might do, but I wanted to make sure. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 12:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Rank

Left for when you come back, Xeno, I now premote you to a 'Splended and Majestic Tutnum' and will for here on be known as 'The Great Universe Emperour Lord Xeno' with a dely of four months since due. In February you could become 'The Great Universe Emperour Lord Xeno"cidic"' going by you previous name of splendour. After that I will add things such as 'The Supreme Universe...' and then The Grand Multiverse Emperour...' and many other things including inter and intra dimensional rulerness. Obviously the last one (name pending) would be 'The Grand and Supreme Multidimensional Emperour OverLord Xenocidic of Earth', followed by your address in Wikiland. I think the name suits you. All hail 'The Great..Xeno' =D 'The Ninjalemming' 19:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Get well soon

Here we go xeno, presumed due to absence and your previous note need flu medicine you were ill, so found this on the legendery commons;

Yep thinks this comes from everyone here! 'The Ninjalemming' 19:12, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it's that serious, but I've been ordered to say "Get well soon." --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Urgh. Now I need a get well soon card. The house is freezing, my leg's still in agony from yesterday mornong, my head is spinning, it's 4 AM and I've had three hours sleep and I just threw up every meal I've had in the last month and I did it over my pyjamas, so I can't crawl back into bed to stave off the cold. This sucks. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 04:00, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Please tell me that spelling was intentional. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:40, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, don't worry it was, its a strange version of idiot said e-jit. Oh and xeno, the rank thing was mostly meant to say that you should be Vetern Editor III now, but forgot to add this bit, making it seem very weird (hee hee). 'The Ninjalemming' 16:42, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Question

I am planning on throwing myself into the pit of rabid dogs (RFA) in a month. Any suggestions on what I should be doing since I put a lot of that stuff behind me? Kevin Rutherford (talk) 00:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

I would advise giving it more time. Jumping back into the pool so soon is ill-advised. –xenotalk 14:41, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 00:25, 13 November 2009

Can you fix this image problem (Image). This image have to go to this article : Split Second (1992 film) and this image goes to this article: Split Second (video game). What a mess up. Thanks. --SkyWalker (talk) 07:47, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

This maybe no help (as of yet) but are you really in morning or are you writing it because you know some one who is or what? To change the color of wikilinks you need to put the color statement inside the piped portion. –xenotalk 19:54, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
This was kinda mixed up with the rest but as I said above I'd say whte as it is symbolic for purity, innocence, good ect. Which works with the tone. 'The Ninjalemming' 19:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

So I know why I don't have a pile of barnstars. You give me one, and I pretty much disappear for a year as far as my edit count shows! Overzealous semi-protect

I think you may have jumped the gun by semi-protecting Mickey Mouse for a year. It looks like vandalism edits by IPs are only running an average of one a day at most, with a similar level of at least plausibly useful edits from non-vandal IPs. Only three vandalisms occurred today, and two of them were by the same IP (which argues for a sanction on that IP, not a blanket protect). Even if you were applying a cool off period, that argues for a three day protect, not a full year. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 19:02, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

If you would commit to watching the article and ensuring vandalism doesn't get thru, I'll lower it. I should note that before I unprotected it on the 10th, it was indefinitely semi-protected. –xenotalk 19:07, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Ah. Didn't notice that. I've already added it to my watchlist (did so before you requested, my watchlist is already largely an eclectic mix of random articles I noticed on RCP). I can't guarantee I'll catch everything, but I do tend to go through articles changes since my last visit and check for vandalism at least once a day. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 19:12, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
k, unprotected. cheers, –xenotalk 19:16, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. If the IP vandals get out of control I'll re-request protection, but for now I think IP editors are doing more good than harm, and I hate needing to shutdown all IP users because of a few jerks. I edited as an IP user intermittently for years before finally registering this account last Spring, so unnecessary semi-protects were my nemesis. :-) —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 19:41, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
As do I, but sometimes it's a necessary evil to give folks like us a break. –xenotalk 19:57, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

Would I be applicable for rollback in the near future if the situation demands it? 'The Ninjalemming' 18:33, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Very likely. You've been on longer than I have and I got it within, what, thirty seconds of asking what it was. I still find that amusing. I was merely asking what it was, not whether or not I could have it. :P Anyway, even if you can't get it, Twinkle seems to have it by default, so install that (if you have Firefox, anyway). --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:35, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I reviewed a handful of your Twinkle rollbacks knew you could be trusted not to abuse it and I reviewed any 'undoing vandalism' from Ninja and saw no issues. –xenotalk 18:45, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
I only just installed Twinkle. I presume that's why you crossed it out? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 21:28, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Slightly less Rollback subject

Dispite the title I'm not here to say "Oh God! I can't handle the power! Take it away! Away I say! <sob sob>", I'm here simply to say how do you put the small symbols in the top right hand side of a page (I want to do it with rollback, it amuses me) 'The Ninjalemming' 17:58, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

I think it's rollback. –xenotalk 18:17, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
How do I get rollback and email user on the same page? They keep merging together in the preview window. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:42, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
You need to add an offset (see the template page for instructions). –xenotalk 18:45, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Forget it, don't want it any more. (headdesk) Sorry. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 21:28, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Really it wasn't that hard =) –xenotalk 13:36, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not that I couldn't do it, it's that, like I said, I actually didn't want it anymore. After a bit of thought, I decided it wasn't really necessary. Or do you think I should keep it? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh, ok, I misinterpreted your (headdesk). It's really up to you. I know that some editors regard things like rollback and accountcreator as little more than "brightly coloured baubles" and look down their nose at editors who they believe to just be collecting them for the sake of having the notch on their belt. Not that I think about them this way, but just to give you some perspective. –xenotalk 15:16, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
No problem. That's partly why I came to the conclusion to not have them. The headdesk was in response my wasting your time. Since I've now done it again when you added them to my page, here's another! (headdesk) --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:29, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
← Well, stop lazing about and go write some articles! =) –xenotalk 15:42, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I'm starting to dislike Twinkle. Since I've installed it, I seem to have done nothing but fight vandals. Yes, it's cathartic, yes, it's useful, but my talk page edits have skyrocketed. I've done less work on articles than I did when I was stuck at the library. How's that for kick-in-the-teeth irony? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:48, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Warnings? We don't need no stinking warnings.
I usually don't bother warning vandals: I think it encourages them. Just removing their vandalism without any fanfare is anti-climactic for them and they get bored. Of course, I have the ability to just block 'em if I was wrong and they persist despite my lack of warning =] –xenotalk 15:49, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah... hey, I don't suppose you could nominate me for an RfA? /total sarcasm, please for the love of God, don't take that seriously, I am not ready to become an admin, if I ever will be. /run-on sentence --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:52, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, I think I pass most of the recommendations for an RfA, but I still don't think I have what it takes (major self-confidence issues). Since you linked me to that, were you simply being helpful or do you actually think that one day I might have what it takes to be an admin? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:01, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

[3] ? Bars are kinda short now and hidden begin doesn't seem to allow for a width param. –xenotalk 00:22, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, whatever you did, it was better than what I did. I created Frankenstein's template, gluing parts from four or more other templates together semi-randomly. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:28, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Here is what I was talking about, see this diff? See how the two bars overlap the infobox? Can you shorten them just small enough so they don't overlap and do the same to the other bars. I don't need to have more than 1 in each row. Just 1 per row, one on top of another. Hows that sound?--Ezekiel 7:19 S†rawberry Fields (sign) 15:20, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
How about now?xenotalk 15:25, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Can you shorten them even more so they will go up to be next to the infobox?--Ezekiel 7:19 S†rawberry Fields (sign) 15:27, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, I suck. Should I delete the barnstar you gave me and hand it to xeno? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:42, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
I lowered it to 60% width; I guess you're on 1024x768? Lower it more if it still doesn't look right. –xenotalk 15:44, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Sooooooooo Close. At firstI thought it was finished but them I clicked the "My Userboxes" bar and for some reason, all of the bars moved below the infobox. See for yourself. Why is that so?--Ezekiel 7:19 S†rawberry Fields (sign) 17:18, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Odd. On mine they simply go down as far as needed, though the bars do expand (that's because of the userbox table though). --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 17:20, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Thats exactly what mine does, they do go down as far as need and expand. Perhaps we can adjust it so there is two columns instead of three. Would that help?--Ezekiel 7:19 S†rawberry Fields (sign) 17:22, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Regarding RfD closes

Hi, thanks for helping out with the RfD backlog. I may be mistaken here, but when deleting pages shouldn't you use an edit summary (or delete summary) of the pages date, instead of just RfD? Example here: Hiroshima terrorist attack I suspect from looking at it that after the page is archived in a couple of days, that link to the RfD will break, whilst a link to the RfD date page will persist. Apologies if I am incorrect, however I thought its better to ask and be wrong than remain silent! Happy editing, --Taelus (talk) 19:47, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Issue

Could you use your magic powers and please fix the issue where this page is labeled as a page when in actuality it is a template. Thank you. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 19:04, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

 Donexenotalk 19:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

No probs

Look I have no intention of arguing this. You quote process, I claim due diligence. I understand your concern here. I hope you empathize with mine. I won't overturn anything you do regarding this, and I only sought out to clarify to CJC on a few points that I felt were overlooked in her communication to me on my talk page. I just noticed the response at the AN where I had posted last night. Someone has a theory about me! How exciting... (bleh).

I noticed the IP's activity when I was looking at a totally unrelated user page that said some thing like "This interests me [4]." Then I got interested as well. And I decided to read every one of their contributions.

I submit, there are a lot of people who appreciate "wild card" humor of this nature. I personally don't like to see it encouraged. Best regards, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 23:50, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I do understand where you are coming from but my only suggestion would be: 1) don't block IPs indefinitely and 2) don't jump right to a year either. Remember that a lengthy block of say, over a month, will either cause the user to: 1) give up vandalizing wikipedia or 2) reset their connection and get a new IP, essentially releasing the now lengthy-blocked IP to someone who may want to contribute constructively. Jmho. –xenotalk 23:51, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Userboxen

I've just created two userboxen to try to calm down any disputes I may have, but they're a bit broken. They are here and here. I want the text to be stretched horizontally rather than vertically, so that it looks like any old normal userbox, but the only way I've seen to do that is to shrink the pictures to a size that's practically impossible to see clearly. Any advice? And if you have any better links, feel free to change the ones I've put in so far. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

So you don't mind if they're wider than a regular userbox? –xenotalk 18:52, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Not at all. I just want them to be, if not the normal height (I'll admit that one of them seems to have far too much text), far more stretched horizontally than vertically. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:54, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
The userbox-2 template is hard-coded at 238px width; you'll need to subst it and change that manually to taste. e.g.xenotalk 18:57, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, that looks exactly how I wanted it. Just so one of us doesn't waste our time, are you going to do the second one or are you leaving that to me? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:01, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

← Yea, I think 75px works well. –xenotalk 19:18, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Why is it that all of your userboxen seem to have a derivative section? I can understand crediting the original coder, but it just seems strange when you compare this one and this one, which are totally unrelated. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:28, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm just a bit of a stickler about proper attribution. The Assassin's Creed userbox is similar enough in colour composition to warrant crediting the designer of the Portal box. However your mourning box is so far away from my AC box that I don't think the attribution is necessary. –xenotalk 19:38, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, then. (will remove) Thanks for the answer. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:46, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
In the interests of improving Wikipedia as a whole, this user would like to offer a truce and put aside all past differences.

Just tried this out on a userpage but, as you can see, the text is automatically shunted to the side, even if it's on the next line on the edit screen. Should I put the outside of the "do not include" tags or would that mess things up? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Either putting it in the included part or just making sure to clear it every time you use it would be fine. –xenotalk 20:13, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Because I'm a cretin, I'll probably forget, so it's going into the included part. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

usurpation request from pl-wiki

I carefully reviewed this case. It seems that the usurped user fulfilled the criteria only technically. S/he contributed only to one article, on many occasions in a series of subsequent minor edits. The total number of edits, excluding the minor ones and one-liners is minimal and by all reasonable standards this user should not be treated on par with editors writing 10 quality, significant articles. On the other hand, the usurper is an established, well-known and trusted user from en-wiki. Therefore the request seems not only reasonable, but also only natural. Canada – United States relations

Hi Xeno, with regards to edit-warring by IP 174.7.14.105 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) at Canada – United States relations (which you just protected), I personally would consider a block on that IP to be more appropriate than page protection, as the IP is the only one edit-warring (others, including myself, are in discussion on talk page). Note that I gave the IP a "last warning" yet the IP continues to edit war (and posted an interesting comment-- make that two interesting comments-- in reponse). Cheers, -M.Nelson (talk) 02:08, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Personal Attack on User:71.174.142.108

Urgh, it figures that on the day I create two userboxen to calm down a dispute I act like this. I've reported myself to the blocking admin, but I figured I should tell you as well, since you're the one who's been an unofficial mentor to me. I want to report myself for a personal attack against him. This is the only time in my nine months on Wikipedia that I've acted like this, but I'm not happy with myself. I'm ashamed that I lost my temper like this and I will accept any punishment either you or the IP's blocking admin deem necessary. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 03:52, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

If you're curious, PMDrive1061 decided to forgive me here and here, though if you think differently, I will still accept punishment. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 04:08, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Then, as your unofficial mentor, I'll just advise you again to WP:STAYCOOL. =) Take the higher ground. –xenotalk 16:23, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Seriously? I honestly expected to be blocked by someone. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Are you planning to make comments like that again? No? Then a block would be merely punitive; something we claim not to do around here. Besides, I typically don't make administrative actions on editors I work closely with; nor do I enforce WP:CIV... –xenotalk 16:34, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
No, I'm not intending to make comments like that again, but I didn't mean to do it that time. If you're sure though... --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:36, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Wait, what the hell am I doing? I'm complaining that I haven't being blocked? (facepalm) --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:37, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Sometimes I'll write something up and preview it and realize that it won't lead to anything productive and I'll just cancel the edit and move on to something else. Try that next time =) –xenotalk 16:38, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
I'll try to remember. Thanks for being so forgiving. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:42, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of video games exclusive to a seventh generation console. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of video games exclusive to a seventh generation console. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:53, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks, it seems the nominator lacked the common courtesy to notify me! –xenotalk 02:01, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
    • I thought I would link you to this page: Console exclusivity which I created a while ago, actually inspired by the WT:VG discussion since it seems to be a notable topic with no coverage on Wikipedia. I am unsure if you can establish notability for your list using it, since a list would be a sort of "sub page" to compliment a main page, but thought you could take a look at it anyway. BBC News, Gamespot and CNET all give some strong attention to the role of console exclusivity, whilst the LA Times and Daily Telegraph only touch upon it, but still I feel that does establish notability. Hope this helps, happy editing. --Taelus (talk) 12:00, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
      • Thanks. Yes, I saw the article. Something I planned to write myself one day, but I plan to write a lot of things that are still redlinked so I'm glad someone else did it =). The nom smacks of IDONTLIKEIT and I've unfortunately seen a lot of anti-console sentiment from the participants in the VG project. –xenotalk 17:20, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
What's this about anti-console sentiment? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 17:26, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Comment

  • Looking at the AfD it seems to have some issue that people link it to the main list articles, rather than to the parent article, and thus they see it as a list based off a list. Perhaps a page move/slight redesign would be the best thing to do? Perhaps converting it into coverage of console exclusivity in the 7th generation, and linking it to the parent article, and then using it as a "See also" on relevant pages? Whilst I disagree with the current 'consensus' on AfD, I think that in order to maintain this information we should perhaps rewrite it and move the page to fulfil a purpose specifically relevant to the parent article. Thoughts? --Taelus (talk) 15:23, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Please do be bold and hack it about if you think it will help. I think the users voting for delete are very short-sighted. –xenotalk 17:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
I threw the idea of mashing the information about and potentially basing it off console exclusivity, and potentially developing it into a subsection of that article with a supporting list, into the AfD. If there isn't strong opposition against it then I will userfy the article shortly before the AfD closes and see what can be done with it. I'll throw you a link in that case. Hope this helps, --Taelus (talk) 18:39, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
If anything, the "important/notable" console exclusives should be mentioned in your parent article. –xenotalk 18:52, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Sadly it seems to be doomed due to a mix of "conduct not content" and "policy not project". Whilst I do assume good faith of others involved, if you look at it and think "What if another editor had created the page?", then the nomination would have occured differently, and the AfD would be turning out differently. It's rather disheartening really, but that is only my personal view. Still though, I hope it doesn't discourage you from making bold changes in future. --Taelus (talk) 19:57, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
The whole affair boggles the mind. –xenotalk 20:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Req for a little guidance please :)

Heya Xeno, it’s been a while since we crossed paths. I know you’re a whiz on coding, and I’d like some pointers on an edit filter if you have some time to give general advice? There’s a serial vandal that could be handled easily with a filter (rangeblocks have failed as they just get a new range with the same ISP, and perm semi on multiple articles for one person’s vandalism is silly). To get started, I’ve identified some suitable trigger words, ie the addition of the genres 'Survival' and 'Horror' to these three articles (diffs of vandalism provided below):

Thus how would one devise a filter to cover IP editors adding those genre keywords to these three articles? Cheers for any pointers, as once I know how to do it I’d pick up on it easily. Or even a link to a similar filter to use as a template would likely be very helpful. NJA (t/c) 11:18, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nja! I saw your comments and mild frustration at WT:EF. I am really not that up-to-speed on edit filters; my area-of-expertise (and I use that term lightly) is in wikicode whereas filters heavily use regex. But let me take a quick look and see if there's a similar filter... I'm sure there is. –xenotalk 13:40, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

That does seem to be an excellent example. I didn't consider searching deleted filters. After reading through its comments, I'm beginning to think there's a group of people who like to keep tight control on edit filter usage. I will see what I can do, and that is a very good find that will certainly be the basis for anything I do end up devising. Thanks! NJA (t/c) 14:33, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but there is a reason. When there are too many filters, especially filters that take a long time to process, it slows down every time you press "save page". I think there was one filter that added a few seconds to every edit! –xenotalk 14:53, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

AN/I

Is AN/I always so... crowded? It was hard to find anything in there. Why can't it be like, say, MfD, where there's very little on the main page in terms of coding and everything is in separate pages that are transcluded to the page proper? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Mmm... This has been suggested in the past, I believe. There was some progress to reform but, like all things here, the discussion eventually stalled. We collectively fear change. I try my best to unwatch ANI as soon as I can no longer find my name when I "ctrl-f" for it. –xenotalk 20:22, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, hell, I can't find my name even when I do Ctrl+F for it. As for fearing change, it can't be that hard, surely? It'd take, what, an hour? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:35, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
There's pros and cons to the subpage method. Major contra being that the subpages would be far less widely watched than ANI is now (upwards of 4000 last I checked). –xenotalk 13:42, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but a major pro would be that it would stop things like this happening. No idea how that happened. I got an edit conflict, but I only copy-pasted my section to the top window. Fortunately, it was easy to undo the flawed part of the edit. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 13:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Would reduce it somewhat but not prevent it entirely... –xenotalk 14:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Maybe it wouldn't stop the phantom edit eater entirely for the larger threads, but it would save a lot of hassle for everyone. Hell, if I get more than five edit conflicts in a row (far more common than I'd like), I give serious thought to just giving up on posting my thought. How would one go about requesting consensus for change (hypothetically, since I don't like being in the limelight all that much)? Just ask on the talk page? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 14:14, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Seems to be related to some db error: Wikipedia:AN#Can't protect pages. And yes, you can revisit it on WT:AN. I would review the past discussion and try to find why/where it stalled and see if you can address that. –xenotalk 14:20, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
So Elen of the Roads told me. Thanks for the information. I'll have a flick through the old conversation and see if it's worth restarting right now. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:02, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Semi-Related Query

How would one go about requesting a change in policy? I know IPs can't create pages, but I've seen an awful lot of new users lately create their first page in good faith and have it die a horrible, speedy deletion related death and then vanish. There was even an experiment about the treatment of new editors creating articles. Has there been any previous discussion about forcing new editors to make, say, a hundred edits to other articles to help them learn from any mistakes before unlocking the ability to create an article for the encyclopaedia proper (but no restrictions on personal sandboxes so that, if they wish, they can create a page there and move it into the encyclopaedia when it's/they're ready). It would also stop all but the most determined trolls from creating attack pages at the same time. This is just a vague train of thought that's been floating around my head for a few days and I haven't given it all that much thought, but what do you think? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:02, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

This probably would not go over well (any proposals of "forcing" people to do something are usually DOA, this being a volunteer project). There has been a push to encourage users to use the "new article wizard" though, which creates drafts for them to work on.
However, on the issue of healing bitten newbies, I do believe that "User:A Nobody" can point you to a nice template he often leaves users who have had their first article deleted that instructs them how to retrieve the deleted content, how to better meet inclusion criteria, &c. –xenotalk 15:37, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
In that case, never mind. It was just a thought based on reading a vague comment about why IPs aren't allowed to create pages any more. I can understand why it wouldn't be liked though. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:47, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Question regarding changes made by edits

I sometimes see net changes like this, where no red appears on either side. It seems one character less was the result. Is it just a space being removed? I sometimes see individual edits where there's no red indicator on either side, so I was curious if there's any other way to see if anything was changed. Also, nice to see you're still interacting with Hop. Those exchanges, while sometimes unreadable, can be strangely amusing. Enigmamsg 19:04, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Yep. They are indeed removing or adding spaces. Personally, I think a change to Wikipedia should be attempted so that, in edits like that, spaces are highlighted. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:15, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
That's weird. Apparently there's a 1 character difference but I can't for the life of me tell where it is. –xenotalk 19:16, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
At the very end of the first paragraph on the previous revision, there was a space, which has now been removed. Obsessiveness searching, yay! --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:24, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Finally found what you were talking about. I clicked edit on both revisions, and found that a click of the mouse on each one revealed where the paragraph ended. One ended after the period, while the other ended a space later. Strange stuff. In any case, I only found it because it was a vandal IP and I had to check all its recent contributions. It has since received a lengthy block. Enigmamsg 20:23, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Detagging

It seems like a lot of cats got added that are not in the project. Can we send the bot to remove our tags from pages on a list of cats?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:11, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

sure, just provide the list. Do you want me to exclude an article from detag if it is on another chibotcat? –xenotalk 13:48, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

The issue is these removed categories.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:48, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

1990 Plainfield tornado would be something I would watch if it were GA or better. I don't mind losing it for now. Is the bot detagging only if no other cats we care about are on the page. I.E., if one of the contested cats and one of the valid cats is on the page I hope it is leaving the talk page alone.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:35, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Correct, I avoided any articles that still have a CHIBOTCAT. –xenotalk 00:41, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Weird bot addition

I wondered why the bot added a WP Chicago banner to the article talk page on Charles D. Baker, Jr., because I had read it when it became a GA and remembered nothing about Chicago. My CTRL-F4 search turned up nothing either, it seems the bot misbehaved there, or am I somehow mistaken? Hekerui (talk) 22:27, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

It's due to the article's membership in Category:Kellogg School of Management alumni... –xenotalk 22:29, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
...though, apparently that school has a campus in Florida, so it's probably not the best category for CHI to be mass tagging. –xenotalk 22:35, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

WP:R changes

Please be aware that if you change the heading of "Targeted redirect," you could damage the shortcut WP:TARGET, which is used elsewhere. I somewhat reverted your change, but included some of what you added. Sebwite (talk) 17:40, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

You just created this shortcut today, so really how much is it used? (not much). This "Targeted redirect" seems to be a bit of a neologism without much penetration [8]. –xenotalk 17:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I just used it in one page today, and I plan to use it elsewhere. Sebwite (talk) 17:46, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
You're swimming upstream. We commonly call these redirects to sections. See [9], Template:R to section, Category:Redirects to sections, etc. –xenotalk 17:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
There are others such as R to anchor, R to list entry (and probably some others I'm forgetting) too. --Tothwolf (talk) 17:55, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Good point. Redirects to page sections are not the only targeted redirects, so with the new subheader of anchor, I've added a super-header as "Targeted redirect" [10]. Fair compromise? –xenotalk 17:58, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes. As we're at it, I will re-examine the shortcuts too. Sebwite (talk) 18:46, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I didn't really have an opinion on how best to present the information, I just happened to think about those when I saw the discussion here. If you can find a place to mention it, it might also be a good idea to explain the 'R from ...' etc templates as well. In addition to categorising a redirect, they are also designed to indicate the redirect's function on the redirect page itself, but that isn't currently functional due to T16323. This came up during the R from other capitalisation discussions and few people actually knew what the 'R from ...' redirect templates were for or how they functioned. --Tothwolf (talk) 18:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Re: FYI

Thanks, if he really won't do it then I'll probably utilize that. These back and forths are probably my least favorite thing of Wikipedia, but necessary I guess if we are to move forward and make decisions on tricky issues. I am willing to concede I'm wrong if that is what consensus decides (and I very well may be wrong), but I am unwilling to allow the discussion itself to be censored or disallowed.

The interesting thing with this whole problem is that I wouldn't be surprised if Rama's decision is actually right in the end - I don't think it is, but I might be wrong. I feel like we need a discussion for two reasons - to gain consensus and make a decision that multiple users agree on, but also so that a thorough discussion can be had for future editors running into the same problem. I've worked on a few architectural articles and there doesn't seem to be any policy nailed down yet on copyrighted images of unfinished or unstarted buildings. I think the decision made would alleviate a lot of these issues. However we can't do that unless we allow for discussion.

Anyway I digress. Thanks again. I'll wait to see if he responds to my final plea :). DR04 (talk) 18:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

My concern is that they may be using their own interpretation of the NFCC criteria that might not necessarily dovetail with the community's. However, I am not familiar with, nor do I care enough, about the NFCC policies to make a judgment call on that or even initiate a thread - hence my gentle push to you. –xenotalk 18:36, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again - with the comments being posted on the ANI page hopefully you guys can decide the best course of actions for situations like these. Hopefully when this is all said and done it will help remove some of the gray area for other editors. DR04 (talk) 20:15, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

German MPs

Hi Xeno, I don't know if you can help me – you may not even remember being involved in this discussion. There seemed to be some point of view that I had requested the deletion of said articles. I don't know who proposed this (as it's simply not true), nor can I find any article/talk page archives indicating this (from me, or any other user). Another editor thought it was strange how all the stubs were created on this one day back in 2006 – simple answer: I was bored! Anyway, the topic isn't really pertinent now since the articles weren't deleted; I was just wondering what happened since I missed the whole discussion and can't seem to make sense of it anymore. I don't even know why I've left it three months to even ask this question, I was just trying to make sense of this old post on my talkpage. Regardless, I hope someone, one day, might like to expand my old stubs. Wishing you a good start to the weekend – Jared Preston (talk) 13:08, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which failed with 21 support, 39 oppose, and 11 neutral.
This is highly belated, but I wanted to thank you for the support in the RfA discussion. I do apologize for taking so long to reply to you, after the failure I laid back for a while. I just dove into another article and am working more diligently on WP.

There is this two category Category:Upcoming games and Category:Upcoming video games. The upcoming game category is no longer used. So i guess that category should be merged with upcoming video games. Don't you think so?. --SkyWalker (talk) 05:39, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Possible banning

This guy has vandalised several pages (Hollywood Undead twice, System of a Down (album) twice, and now Taylor Lautner (as seen here). I think this calls for a ban. I'm not sure how to request a ban, and I'm not capable of doing it myself (since I'm no admin), so I thought that you may be able to help. You might want to review his contributions before enacting the ban. --ҚЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 00:23, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

You mean a block, not a ban. They're separate. I've asked for one now. You using Twinkle still? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:24, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Best place to do this is at WP:AIV as many administrators watch that page to address reports of vandalism. –xenotalk 13:46, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Jade: Yes, I'm still using Twinkle. And xeno, I've finished that now. Thanks. --ҚЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 20:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Then look at the top of any user page, on the same section as the history button, etc. You'll see a button labelled ARV. Check any relevant boxes, add a comment if necessary and send away. Your question

thanks for closing that ANI. I remember we had a few words back and forth at one time...interesting how your view of an editor evolves and changes. Take for example, Cool Hand Luke, we tussled a bit, but now I have one of his quotes prominently on my talk page. A recent discussion brought editors I usually don't agree with at all into supporting the position I supported. I just think this shows that sometimes we forget to focus on what we have in common instead of what we don't. Ikip (talk) 23:02, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Sure, I always try to close ANI threads neutrally & dispassionately. And yes, I've also gotten that strange feeling when you find yourself on the same side of an argument with someone you've had heated disagreements in the past. –xenotalk 23:04, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Moving exoplanets

Please don't start moving exoplanets around without (extensive) general discussion about their naming scheme. The space is used by some and authors and not others (this applies to the space between the catalog designation and the catalog number as well, so you have GJ1214b, G J1214b, GJ 1214b, and GJ 1214 b, all in use). The generally used scheme includes a space, and that's the one adopted here, so far. Some journals, because of other typographic or historical conventions, exclude it, but they're the exception. AldaronT/C 20:44, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

I saw your move log summary and figured you know best. Thanks for the additional note. –xenotalk 20:46, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
NP. It's confusing and in flux. But all the places that aggregate exoplanet lists and catalog use spaces, so Wikipedia should probably follow them (even when the occasional publication does otherwise). The redirect is important though, so thanks for adding that. Cheers! AldaronT/C 20:52, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation =) –xenotalk 20:54, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

re: Pennsylvania tagging

Ahh, Blargh must've got bored of waiting around for me to get this task done (he made a request here quite a while ago) :). I'm fairly busy atm, so please feel free to do this task yourself, although I should warn you that there is something like 24k articles to run through. In case you want it, I've made a list of the pages which KingpinBot hasn't yet done here [large page]. If you save it as a text file, AWB should be able to load from there if you want.
As for the auto stub and inherit, I've used auto stub before, but didn't for this task (there was a reason at the time ;)). Also, I've seen you talking about inherit before, and it sounds like a fairly good idea. If you can explain how to use it, I'd be happy to :). - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:42, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

It's actually a pretty simple find/replace matrix when it comes down to it. Shoot me an email and I'll send you the .XML - you'll just need to do a find/replace in notepad to replace the project template with whatever task you're running. I'll pick up the torch for PEN if you're busy. –xenotalk 15:47, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Tagging of Philadelphia-related pages

I see that your bot is tagging Philadelphia-related articles with WikiProject Pennsylvania tags. From what I've noticed, WikiProject Philadelphia tags, already have WP:Penn parameters in them. ----DanTD (talk) 15:20, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Hm, thanks for the note. I do see that the Phil. tags have a note that it is 'also supported' by WP Pennsylvania. I'll have to ask the sponsor if they want me to avoid those tagged with Phil. already. –xenotalk 15:24, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, that's something I hadn't seen before. I guess if it's already covered by the WP:PENNA through WP:PHILLY, then there's no reason to double-tag it. I double checked to make sure this wasn't happening with WP:PITTSBURGH, WP:ERIE, WP:STEELERS, WP:LEHIGH, but those templates don't double tag. Thanks!--Blargh29 (talk) 15:36, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
By the way, I made a comment at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Philadelphia#Template_double_tagging about this. Thought you might want to comment.--Blargh29 (talk) 15:41, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

After a quick concurrence from the Philadelphia project, I went ahead and removed the automatic Pennsylvania tags from the WP:PHILLY template. So, can we continue to tag Pennsylvania articles, irrespective of whether they are tagged with WP:PHILLY?--Blargh29 (talk) 16:03, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

It's your call. The bot is on a short break right now (unrelated), it should start up again sometime later today. –xenotalk 16:05, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, let's just keep going with the categories on the list. By the way, I've been doing spot checks on the bot, and everything seems to be running smoothly. I just found the one category that shouldn't have been there (Category:Delaware Valley), but I will remove those tags manually. Thanks again for doing this! It's pretty awesome.--Blargh29 (talk) 16:08, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I just put in a request for Xenobot to tag pages for Pennsylvania politicians. I just created 400+ such articles, so tagging them manually would be pretty tedious. Membership notice

Your friends over at WP:VG have a quick request for you. Could you have your bot send out the following notice to all the users listed here.

Dear BASEPAGENAME,

You are receiving this message because either <tt>[[:Category:WikiProject Video games members]]</tt> or User WPVG is somewhere in your userspace, and you are currently listed in the "Unknown" section on the project's member list.

The member list is meant to provide a clearer picture of active membership. It is recommended that you update your status if you plan to regularly:
* Edit video game-related pages in the Article namespace
* Participate in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)

Members listed in the "Unknown" section will be removed from the membership list and category at the end of January 2010. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Sincerely, the Video Games WikiProject ~~~~~

There is also a thread on the talk page if you wanted to check it out for some reason. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, MrKIA11 (talk) 15:51, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

There's been blowback from the last 2 EFM rights I handed out (not counting the one I put on my alternate account), so I think I'll leave this one for someone else out of concern that I may be too liberal in this regard. –xenotalk 15:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for moving that page out of template-space. I didn't create it, so I hadn't realized it was in template-space. It does belong in my userspace. :) MastCell Talk 20:18, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem! I did pause for a moment seeing that you added move=sysop, but then I decided to just rouge out and do it anyway. ;> –xenotalk 20:24, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I did that 'cause I thought it was in my userspace - I usually move-protect the stuff there, to keep from being Grawped. Probably should have been a bit more careful with that one. Thanks. MastCell Talk 20:44, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Likewise - no worries - cheers. –xenotalk 20:51, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Null edits?

Hey, I saw your post over at Talk:Barack Obama assassination threats about the need for null editing to identify the source of merged material. I'm honestly not sure what null editing means, but if it's helpful, all of the material came from the Denver/Tennessee sections came from 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Denver and 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Tennessee, of which I'm the primary author. The Hawaii section came largely from some of the sources listed at the old 2009 Obama assassination plot in Hawaii, although the text itself didn't. Part of the Gesiel and Blanchard sections came from 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Denver, although some of it came from new sources. Is this helpful at all? — Hunter Kahn (c) 17:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Definitely, and noted in the history. Null edits (dummy edits actually is the more accurate term as null editing doesn't cause an edit summary) are described here: help:Dummy edit. Nice job on the article, btw. –xenotalk 17:11, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

BlazerKnight

You do realise that he hasn't been all that active recently, don't you? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:27, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I noticed... But even absent the inactivity, I was going to suggest he start using my talk page directly; his questions were getting more complicated and would benefit from the input of my army of stalkers. –xenotalk 18:29, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I stalked that page too though! :P --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:05, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Clearly =) –xenotalk 19:09, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Making proposals

In that case, please blank it out (remove it). If you just blanked it out, I would think that is disruptive but you seem to be moving it to a logical place, not moving it to the basement or unused closet. Since that is constructive, I will also take you opinion that it will not be well received and ask that you just blank it out. AG191D (talk) 18:39, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I've done so. The reason it will not be well-received is because Wikipedia is a volunteer project. Any "requiring" of editors to do something is a non-starter. –xenotalk 18:44, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I kinda thought it would be a fun/interesting discussion. I especially liked the prison metaphor and was waiting to see what clever comments people would come up with in response. While the proposal in its original form had no real chance, the counter-proposals would've been interesting; like since AfD was the primary complaint, maybe users should be required to attempt fixing an article prior to bringing it to AfD; or that in order to nominate an article for deletion, you're required to have fixed a certain number of articles in the past. It's up to you, but for the future (both of you), just because a proposal in its original form has no shot doesn't mean it wouldn't sprout a valuable discussion, and even evolve into something more practical. Equazcion (talk) 18:56, 30 Dec 2009 (UTC)
I don't have anything against the proposal being made at one of the pumps, it's not suitable for WP:AN. On a related note, AG191D (talk · contribs) has just been blocked as a sock. –xenotalk 18:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I just noticed the block. Oh well. And yes, agreed that it wasn't suitable for AN. Equazcion (talk) 19:00, 30 Dec 2009 (UTC)

Good call ...

... on User:Secret deletion etc. I had seen the cousin's message and emailed Alison (before the AN thread was started) to check if the account had been compromised, or if the message was genuine. But your approach was clearly quicker, and worth emulating. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 19:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Better safe than sorry, I'd say. Thanks for the note =) –xenotalk 19:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

To All and Singular that shall hear and see these Presents, Xanderliptak sends Greetings! Whereas Xeno has exhibited a great and curious care in resolving a dispute between my self and an unnamed administrator that has taken up the better part of a week, a dispute that nearly compelled the said Xanderliptak to cease contributing to Wikipedia for e'er, and is recognized for as much for these contributions and is to be duly decorated for her actions. Know ye therefore that I do hereby award to Xeno the Curious Cat Barnstar Medal. In testimony whereof I have affixed to these Presents my sign and date.

<smiles> perhaps the lengthiest barnstar I've received! Thanks =) - and I'm glad you've reconsidered your position on your continued volunteership on Wikimedia projects. Do feel free to let me know if I can be of any further assistance. –xenotalk 20:15, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Protection at Mike Leach (coach)

Thanks for the protection of Mike Leach (coach). I was having trouble track of all the WP:BLP violations! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 20:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. These emerging events are BLP nightmares. Thank you for your efforts. –xenotalk 20:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Rich Farmborough's edit count

Seriously Xeno, I can't believe you've made that an ANI issue. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:44, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

I've already replied there, and you appear to have misread the issue. –xenotalk 19:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Mmm, well that was the impression I got from your post....Something about the way you started it and worded it saying things like "rocketed themsevles to the number one edit count spot". It looked to me as if this was your primary concern as if to say "He is cheating"... Sorry if I got the wrong impression.. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:58, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

It was more to highlight the dramatic and exponential increase in editing rate over the last 8 months, but I see how it could have been interpreted that way. Mea culpa, no worries. –xenotalk 19:59, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I've noticed too. I believe last year I passed him in edit count. He didn't edit much for a while and then suddenly began using AWB and the rate has seemingly grown exponentially so he now has over twice my edit count.. I'm not too concerned unless he consistently makes errors and causes a big nuisance (and like BetaCommand refused to accept or change his errors). I don't think we have to worry about Rich in this respect, but if he is making a huge number of edits per minute so it potentially affects recent change monitoring of other articles and detection of vandalism then it is an issue. If this was your primary concern other than his edit count I understand and apologise to you for assuming differently. Happy new year! Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:13, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Yea, the lack of a bot flag is the primary concern next to the lack of BAG oversight. Happy new year to you as well =) –xenotalk 02:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

KingpinBot

Hey xeno. Thanks for the message at User talk:KingpinBot. It's something I've been wondering if there is a way to do. However, could you give me more specific instructions on how to add this? I'm not particularly AWB savvy :). Thanks - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:26, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

You would've just had to cut and paste it into an existing .xml. I've just sent you Penn.xml that has both this and the inheritance matrix I had promised you 2 weeks ago. Feel free to test it out on some of the Penn articles that are in that list. –xenotalk 02:05, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
