Got your request[edit]

Thanks for being so polite in your removal request of the Hillary picture from my userpage. I have removed it and replaced it with a free image. The "Living History" image was there because I couldn't find any pretty pictures that were free. Thanks to you I managed. I wish all users were as polite and helpful as you are. Rehavam Zeevi[edit]

Shalom. Thank you very much. It would be appreciated. - Darwinek 09:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Uncategorized articles[edit]

Please be aware that putting a stub marker on an article, as you did with Ahmed Haroun, isn't good enough - please put in an actual category. Stub categories are Wikipedia maintenance categories, not subject categories. A {{current}} tag isn't good enough either, since Category:Current events is also a maintenance category. New Vincenzo Botta[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to remove the water marks from the Vincenzo Botta photo. Your version of the photo is much better because it shows his hands, which makes the photo much more expressive. I will add it to the original article soon. Thanks again! Epousesquecido 04:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Would you mind weighing in on this debate? --evrik (talk) 15:27, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

  • To answer your question ... part of not violating Wikipedia:Canvassing is trying to bring in 'bipartisan' views. SInce you had recently edited the article ... in any case, the tempest in a teapot is over. --evrik (talk) 22:29, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

THANK YOU![edit]

Thanks for catching that fake signature. I should probably be more careful next time I discover that Jimbo Wales had signed my autograph book. Should I report that Spawn Man? --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 20:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Where do I report him at? --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 20:56, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Only two more days for you! {Slash-|-Talk} 02:03, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

You're quite welcome. Thanks too for mentioning the glitch; the rename utility is meant to move all userpages to the new name, but apparently it isn't clever enough to offer a delete-and-move option if the target already exists. Regards — Dan | talk 17:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll gladly submit my record of the email exchange to permissions... but in terms of a list of images which use it, that'll be harder as a number of people besides myself have uploaded lots of additional images from Luke, so it's not like I can look back over my submissions list to see them all. In fact, looking at the Luke Ford photo category, there are 385 pictures with that tag, plus who knows how many more are present without the tag. Any suggestions on how I should this situation? U2 picture[edit]

Hi, thank you very much for your explanation on the talk page. I posted a response there to your clarification. To rehash, I would like to know what license can preserve the requirement that the author be credited. Also, I'm a little confused why two other editors told me that all the author has to do is say he is willing to allow the picture to be used on any website, but you request that the photographer has to creative commons license, gnu public license, or public domain the picture. Your explanation is much appreciated. Wikipedia brown 02:48, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for your quick reply to my questions!! I whole-heartedly agree that this business with copyrighting is fairly tricky, reminds me why I didn't want to go to law school and opted for engineering spacecraft instead. Anyways, I've asked the author if he'd give his permission for the work to be used under CC-BY 2.5 (which I realize is not quite as favorable as CC-BY-SA, but I don't want to complicate matters and make him think that Wikipedia is too complicated for his excellent works). Anyways, thanks again! Wikipedia brown 03:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

"Replaceable" fair use[edit]

Regarding this edit, I am curious about your rationale for considering this image "replaceable"; the other two images are licensed identically to this one. (Note - User:Duncharris has left Wikipedia). Guettarda 04:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

What I don't understand is that all three images were uploaded by the same editor using the same tag, so how did you conclude that two of them were valid PD, while the third was not? Either they are all equally suspect (in which case, fair use would have to be asserted for them all) or them are all equally likely to be valid. Calling one suspect and the other two valid just doesn't make sense to me. Guettarda 18:21, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you think?[edit]

To Commons.svg This user believes free images should be moved to the Commons.

Just curious. --evrik (talk) 16:31, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

  • What about a template? Where should we put it? Should we link the box to a category? --evrik (talk) 17:32, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Various F1 images[edit]

Hi, you listed three images of racing cars uploaded by as possibly unfree images. I've looked at the copyright notice I used for them and can't see any problem with it. It's still listed as acceptable at Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/All, and I haven't placed an unacceptable caveat on it. I will de-list the images in around 10 hours time, unless I've missed something, in which case, please point it out at Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_images#March_13. Cheers. 4u1e 08:09, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Mindy Kaling[edit]

I noticed that you left a message on User talk:Danny about the office actions regarding Mindy Kaling. I, too, left a message and got no reply. I, however, did a little research and found out that the article is likely protected for some legal reason that the Foundation (wisely) can't and/or won't discuss, probably relating to past article content. I know this is rather unhelpful and vague, but that is what seems to be going on. Cheers. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 13:31, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Jake Gyllenhaal photo[edit]

Hi, I didn't upload that photo. I only cropped the original image and reuploaded it but I've sent a message to the person who (I think) may be able to help. Can you please hold off for a few days until I get a reply, and I'll let you know. The original image is Image:JakeGyllenhaal.jpg thanks Rossrs 07:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Free image for Sarah Jessica Parker[edit]

Yonatan, thank you so much for finding a free picture for Sarah Jessica Parker! I came across the article once when I was reviewing fair use images in the promotional category; it had the most fair use images I've seen in a while for a living person. I tried looking (briefly) for images of her on Flickr but found none. I just saw your edit on my watchlist, so thank you for finding a free image! --Iamunknown 17:43, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

I reverted the article name back to Shaare Zedek Medical Center[edit]

Hi Yonatan. I appreciate your good intentions, but I believe that "Shaare Zedek" is the correct title, not "Shaarey Tzedek." I am well aware that the latter wording is the better transliteration, but the relevant issue is, what do most people call the medical center, and how does it refer to itself? On both counts, "Shaare Zedek" is correct. A Google search using quotation marks for "Shaare Zedek Medical Center" produces about 50,000 results; a search for "Shaarey Tzedek Medical Center" turns up almost nothing. If you still feel that your opinion is correct, I am willing to seek a third opinion. YechielMan 05:44, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I've emailed him, and apparently he's now sent the email you asked for. He also said in his reply to me:

crouch's bird: dog.

Image help[edit]

I don't know much about Commons and the like, but you just edited a page on my watchlist and I see you're an administrator on commons. Image:Leinsterhouse.jpg doesn't seem to exist but does link to a file on Commons. any idea how to fix this please? Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 07:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Maybe my browser is just doing something very strange, but I get the same problem with the Commons link you provided. I don't see the actual image, just this link. The image doesn't appear in any of the articles on my browser. One Night In Hackney303 07:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Must be my browser, works fine in IE but not Firefox. Thanks for the help. One Night In Hackney303 07:13, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Can't find relevant discussion there, sorry. - Darwinek 20:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I deleted it exactly for the same reason, as it was created by banned user. There wasn't also a clear community consensus on Euro football templates with slight majority in favour of deletion. It was discussed some time ago in WP:TFD. I like Kafziel but I followed the rules and no community consensus, sorry. - Darwinek 21:28, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
