List of Assyrians[edit]

I have already addressed you about this issue. You cannot list one person 3 times on the same page - this does not make sense. And secondly, you can't list people who are not known to the Assyrian community - no names. In other words, you can't just list anybody. With regards. Chaldean 06:30, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

If a person is in several catagories as a "professional" in those catagories then they must stay. Some people do one thing only. Some do many. I do not think you represent the entirety of the Assyrian community. There are Assyrians that you may not know. I am not just arbitrarily listing people. If I've listed them, I think they deserve to be there and I also plan to follow up with their bios. This is about building not destroying Assyrians. User: Zayya 10:58:00 17 December 2006

If a person is in several catagories as a "professional" in those catagories then they must stay - You have to follow wikipedia guidelines. You can't just make your own rules. If a person does multiple things, then he should be put under what he or she is best known for. And another thing, you can't just list all of her family members. This is just silly. Chaldean 07:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm listing people that belong on this list. Do we then just list one person per family? Now you're being silly. I've also noticed that you've removed names of many legitimate authors and others for no aparent reason. Like I said before, stop making this personal. User: Zayya 17 December 2006

Zayya, you have been reported to the admins for breaking the 3RV Chaldean 07:39, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

List of Assyrians[edit]

I have already explained to you what you are doing wrong. 1. If your going to add 100 extra names on the list, then you better make an article for every single one of them. It doesn't make sense listing people on the list without having an article about them. Let me give you an example; The list had the name Kennedy Bakircioglü, but he did not have an article - thus being a red tag. I just recently made an article about him - Kennedy Bakircioglü, and now he is listed. You want to add names on the list? Then make an article about that person first, before adding his name. 2. You keep rving me alphabetizing them. In wikipedia list, we alphabetize with the first name, not the last name. 3. Finally, you can't add a person in the same list more then one time - again please see Wikipedia guidelines.

If you do not follow the rules, then I will have to report you once again and you will get a longer ban then 8 hours next time. Chaldean 19:08, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

John Warda, 1950 Bronze medalist in shot put in Iran - can you please tell me where did you get this from? Their were no 1950 Olympics. Only 1948, 1952, etc. Chaldean 01:17, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
I stand corrected. Sorry about the mixup. I went back to my research. I have a photo of him receiving his bronze medal form the Shah of Iran in 1950. It wasn't the Olympics. Nevertheless, John Warda was still Iran's champion bronze medalist and deserves an article. User Zayya: 18 December 2006
What was the event called? Do you know? Chaldean 01:53, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Every year the country held national competitions in track and field. The literal translation would be "Iran's Track and Field Competition of 1950." User Zayya: 18 December 2006

Ok I can't seem to locate this one either; Izarya Il-Khanoff, Boxer from Iran in 1964 Olympics - are you sure about the year? Chaldean 02:24, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

The year is correct according to the photo and inscription. However, it may be that the English spelling of his name is not correct. Izarya Il-Khanoff may be a phoenetic spelling, misspelling or he used a variation on the name at the games. Assyrian names are complex in translation. But I am certain of the date. [[User: Zayya:18 December 2006]
What book is this your getting all this info from again? Chaldean 03:46, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Personal collection as well as a booklet that Assyrian Star published years ago that listed all the famous Assyrian Athletes and Olympians. User Zayya: 18 December 2006

Shlama, you have worked hard on the Rosie Yonan's page. Maybe you should nominated as a "Good Article" - for more info, see this; Wikipedia:Good articles. Chaldean 01:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Shlama and thanks...I read the info for "Good Article" nomination but am not too clear on how to do it. Maybe you can help me out, khoona. Basima. User:Zayya 11 April 2007

Rosie Malek-Yonan‎[edit]

I was kind of confused by the presence of these links. I noticed a few were to Wikipedia pages - if you want to link to a Wikipedia page, a Wikilink would do the job better ("]]" after the name of the film and "[[" before). As for external links, it's not necessary to link to the IMDB page of every single film listed (and a few of the directors and actors involved). Wikipedia:External links can probably explain it better than I can, but more or less the only external (outside of Wikipedia) links that should be in the article are those referencing a particular fact or those that add something to the article. Regards, All Hallow's Wraith 06:33, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I added the wiki-link. The HTML looks like this ''[[Rendition (film)|Rendition]]'' - I hope that helps with the rest of the links. All Hallow's Wraith 06:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Farah MIr[edit]

Can you explain to me why this character is notable? We don't have full articles on every recurring soap opera character. AniMate 05:57, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

She is a new character that has just been added to the cast of GH who will have a storyline this summer. Please refer to the various sources that have written about her. I will also add the references to her page. Zayya (talk) 06:00, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

I know she's a new character, but there are very few articles about recurring characters that are actually notable. The actress playing her is certainly notable, but if every character that came on a daytime drama had their own article Wikipedia would be overloaded. Again, can you tell me why this character is notable? She may be notable in the future, but right now she's just a character who isn't a contract role and may never become one. AniMate 06:04, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Not all characters are contract players. I can list them for you but I don't think that would be necessary. And certainly recurring characters remain on shows for very long periods of time. Years even. That's neither here or there. I agree that not all recurring characters need to be listed on Wikipedia, however when a character such as this one joins the cast and is talked about by the writer of the show, Robert Guza, in print, then I think it is fairly obvious that this is an important character to the show. I think we need to sit tight and let this develop.Zayya (talk) 06:13, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I think you're wrong about her notability as a character, but would you be willing to post your argument at Wikipedia:WikiProject Soap Operas? Recently, a character, Claudia Zacchara, played by a notable actress (Sarah Brown), who is on contract, was deleted from Wikipedia. There are so many soap characters out there, and so many of them are discuessed by their writers, but why exactly is this character notable? AniMate 06:41, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't think I'm wrong about this character. This character is notable and has been brought to the canvas because according to Robert Guza Jr., "It's different than anything else I know of in daytime right now." I think you need to give it some time. It can always be deleted. But I think that will not be the case with Farah's character.Zayya (talk) 07:01, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm just curious if you still think this character is notable. She's only slated to appear in four episodes. AniMate 05:33, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I do think this character is notable as she's just joined the show!!! She's appearing again this week. She's not slated to only appear in 4 episodes. Those are the four she's done thus far with more to come. Zayya (talk) 06:51, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Once again I need to ask you about the notability of this character. This is an extremely minor role and as her only connection is to a rather unpopular character, I cannot see this actually becoming notable. I understand your affection for Rosie Malek-Yonan, but I think you should try and be a little more objective about this. I redirected this page over a month ago, and did not revert you in order to give the article time to develop. However, little has or is likely to come light that makes this character particularly notable. I'd appreciate you letting me redirect this to the list of GH characters where the character can be given the due weight she actually deserves. If you still refuse, then I suppose we could try getting a third opinion or as a last resort we can take this to articles for deletion. AniMate 00:11, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Please refer to the discussion page for Farah Mir for a third opinion. I thought we had this all settled. I'm not certain why you are so focused on this one character. Just doing a cursory search on the following characters I see that their pages are even less than Farah Mir's: Leyla Mir, Russell Ford, Bernie Abrahms, Andy Archer, David Harper, Leo Julian, Iris Sneed, etc. and I'm sure there are others. I didn't go through the entire list but at least all these need development as well. You say that her connection is to a rather unpopular character. Is this your personal opinion or the opinion of the industry? How relevant is this opinion? At this time, I'm not agreeing to delete this entry. I'd like to wait and see where all this goes. Zayya (talk) 21:30, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not just focused on Farah Mir. You'll notice the first time this was redirected it was during a mass redirecting of non-notable General Hospital characters. Honestly, with the exceptions of Leyla Mir, Leo Julian, and Andy Archer, I think all of those characters should probably be redirected. The reason is I think those three shouldn't be redirected is because they're contract characters on either General Hospital or Night Shift. Also, I don't think saying Leyla is unpopular is particularly controversial, though I'd never add it to the article.
There are a lot of pretty unnecessary General Hospital pages out there. I've made a project of trimming some of the fat in relationship to the show and have redirected numerous non-notable articles about characters. I've run into some rather difficult contributors who are rabid fans of the show and that has lead to some "troubling" interactions. I perceived that you were not one of those fans, so rather than escalating our disagreement about the notability of the character, I decided to give you some time to develop the article. My hope was that you would recognize that the character isn't notable outside of the fact that she was portrayed by an artist you admire or that sufficient material would become available that I would be convinced that the article is in fact notable. That hasn't happened unfortunately. AniMate 08:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Not again! I thought this was resolved and put to rest for now. This will not get developed according to a time frame you are personally setting out in order for you to be convinced. Zayya (talk) 08:51, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Excuse me, since when was an "Assyrian" a citizenship? —Precedingunsigned comment added by (talk) 10:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

  • We're not listing citizenship! We're listing her nationality which is Assyrian. Do not keep reverting it to anything but Assyrian. Zayya 17:37, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

BUT IS ASSYRIA A NATION? User:Megastrike14

  • Yes! Assyria is a nation. Zayya 19:21, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

No it is not. it is not a recognised official nation. why wont you accept shes iranian also? User:Megastrike14 —Preceding unsigned comment added by92.2.18.245 (talk) 13:15, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

  • You need to go back and study history before making such claims. She's an Assyrian and that is the only nationality she identifies herself with. Before randomly editing her information, I suggest you read more about her. Do not revert this again. Zayya 19:41, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

You must either state you wish to Keep orDelete the article and provide a valid reason why it should be kept/deleted. Simply declaring that you are declining the nomination means nothing as the discussion goes forward with or without your participation or permission. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed tofalse in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there isa workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250,LivingBot (talk) 19:38, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Rosie Malek-Yonan's name in other languages[edit]

Hi Zayya,

i have changed the name of the language from assyrian to syriac, because the name of this language and font is syriac, and not assyrian. The people are called assyrians, but this language is syriac-aramaic, not assyrian, assyrian was an akkadian dialect and is not more spoken today, so Assyrian Neo-Aramaic is aNeo-Aramaic dialect that is written in the Syriac alphabet, Syriac is the liturgical language of all syriac churches. Western syriac is the liturgical language of the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Syrian Catholic Church, and the Syriac Maronite Church, and eastern Syriac is the liturgical language of the Chaldean Catholic church, Assyrian Church of the east and Ancient church of the east. I am self a Assyrian and would not do vandalism i just try to correct this, Assyrian neo aramaic is a dialect like chaldean neo aramaic and turoyo aramaic, all are neo-aramaic languages and be written in the syriac font.

I hope i may add this again to the artilce. Thanks Elvis214 (talk) 17:50, 13 April 2011 (UTC).

Elvis214, Please see my reply posted at Talk:Rosie Malek-Yonan. Thanks. (Zayya 01:19, 14 April 2011 (UTC))

Oleg Yakushenkov[edit]

A few years ago you created the article on Oleg Yakushenkov. It is still an unreferencedbiography of a living person, which is no longer considered acceptable. Can you please assist in adding a reference from a reliable source, or if you don't think that any exist, then please nominate the article for deletion. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 16:15, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

That's all I know about him. I have a copy of his film but all the information on it is in Russian and since I don't read Russian, I'm unable to add much. I was hoping someone, perhaps a Russian speaking editor would fill in the blanks. I will nominate it for deletion since there's not been any contribution. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. (Zayya 02:20, 29 April 2011 (UTC))
No problems. Sometimes it's worthwhile to go back over the old edits - standard have changed. Regards,The-Pope (talk) 03:40, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
