TWL HighBeam check-in[edit]

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.

Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Credo Recovery Ministries[edit]

Hello Zellfaze,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Credo Recovery Ministries for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. —swpbT 15:02, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Maryland/Frederick task force[edit]

You may have already seen my activities in your watchlist, but I figured I would comment regardless: I just joined the Wikipedia:WikiProject Maryland/Frederick page you had started. I am a Frederick County residence myself, and am looking forward to collaborating with you and the rest of the task force! ~ Erick Shepherd • (Talk) • 15:22, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

I just created a userbox and a corresponding category for task force participants, and have added the userbox and the template for its use to the task force page.

Userbox:

Seal of Frederick County, Maryland.pngThis user is a member of the Frederick task force.

Template: {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Maryland/Frederick task force/Userbox}}

I had to move the task force page to a slightly different name to get Wikipedia's existing task force templates to work correctly on the category page, so I do apologize for seeming at all presumptuous in making the move. I have made sure to take care of editing all appropriate links to reflect the transition. ~ Erick Shepherd • (Talk) • 04:47, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

I've created the category Category:Frederick County, Maryland task force articles and several subcategories and have been tagging those pages within the scope of the task force. ~ Erick Shepherd • (Talk) • 12:37, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

I just got the Maryland WikiProject template updated so that task members can now rate articles according to their importance to the task force using the field "Frederick-importance = " and have them categorized automatically according to that rating and tallied on the page Category:Frederick County, Maryland articles by importance. ~ Erick Shepherd • (Talk) • 21:50, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

A demo wiki is up and running!

Dear members of WikiProject Genealogy, this will be the last newsletter for 2017, but maybe the most important one!

You can already now try out the demo for a genealogy wiki at https://tools.wmflabs.org/genealogy/wiki/Main_Page and try out the functions. You will find parts of the 18th Pharao dynasty and other records submitted by the 7 first users, and it would be great if you would add some records.

And with those great news we want to wish you a creative New Year 2018!
