Your talk page archive

[edit]

Most Wikipedia editors archive their talk page from time to time, and most editors make multiple archive pages. In contrast, you've created one monolithic archive page, which is now 1,315,380 bytes, which is enormous by Wikipedia standards. I came to talk page archive because it is listed at Links in links lint errors, in fact right now it is the only page listed there. The crazy thing is, the line of markup that is detected as having a links in links error does not seem to have anything wrong with it. Maybe the real problem is that the page is so big that the linter can't handle it. I encourage you to break up your talk page archive into smaller pieces. If you do, consider a target size of somewhere between 50,000 and 200,000 bytes. If your target size is 100,000 bytes, you would end up with about 13 or 14 archive pages. I hope you will consider it. You probably already know about Help:Archiving a talk page. Cheers, Anomalocaris (talk) 13:40, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Anomalocaris: have chopped it up into bits and set up an auto-archive. I'd not come across the help page or bots before so thanks for flagging! Zeromonk (talk) 09:24, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations. I noticed that the archive box isn't listing your archive pages. I archive my own talk page manually and I've never set up a bot for archiving, but I think it works as follows. You've set it up this way:

I don't know, but think this would work:

I formed this conclusion by going to Special:WhatLinksHere/User:ClueBot_III/ArchiveThis to find pages that use this tool, and then I clicked on Talk:Archaeology, which includes this:

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis
| age                 =2160
| archiveprefix       =Talk:Archaeology/Archive
| numberstart         =2
| maxarchsize         =75000
| header              ={{Automatic archive navigator}}
| minkeepthreads      =5
| format              = %%i
}}

and the archive pages are Talk:Archaeology/Archive 1, Talk:Archaeology/Archive 2, ...

so this leads me to believe you're supposed to have a space just before the number in the archive file names. If you want to test if this is correct, you could try this code and move just the first archive page to have a space before "1", and if the archive box displays that file, then move all of the archive pages the same way. There is also Wikipedia:Help desk. Good luck! —Anomalocaris (talk) 17:38, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Researching historical women writers who used pseudonyms requires careful investigation across multiple sources, as many women adopted pen names to avoid gender bias and judgment (e.g., being labeled a bluestocking) and, ultimately, to get published.

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:41, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
