Born Véra Gibson-Amado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she became the wife of film director Henri-Georges Clouzot. She co-wrote the screenplay for the film La Vérité (1960), which was also directed by her husband.

Clouzot died in Paris in 1960, aged 46, from a heart attack and is buried in the Montmartre Cemetery.
