Evangelos "Vangelis" Mantzaris (alternate spelling: Vaggelis) (Greek: Ευάγγελος "Βαγγέλης" Μάντζαρης; born April 16, 1990) is a Greek professional basketball player for Olympiacos Piraeus of the Greek Basket League. At a height of 1.96 m (6'5"),[1][2] he can play point guard or shooting guard. His brother, Antonis Mantzaris, is also a professional basketball player.

Professional career

Mantzaris began his professional career in the Greek A2 League with Peristeri. On September 5, 2011, Mantzaris signed a four-year deal with the 1st-tier level Greek League club Olympiacos Piraeus.[3] He won both the EuroLeague and Greek League championships, with Olympiacos in 2012.

In January 2013, Mantzaris suffered a season-ending knee injury, after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.[4] Despite suffering the knee injury, he remained on the team, and helped to support his teammates both in and out of the locker room, as they won the Euroleague 2012–13 season championship. On 29 July 2014, Mantzaris extended his contract with Olympiacos through 2017.[5]
