The Wellington City mayoral election, 1941 was part of the New Zealand local elections held that same year. In 1941, elections were held for the Mayor of Wellington plus other local government positions including fifteen city councillors. The polling was conducted using the standard first-past-the-post electoral method.
The election resulted in a landslide victory for the right-leaning local ticket the Civic League with their candidates capturing all council seats and the mayoralty, whitewashing the Labour Party. This election saw the new development of non-ratepayers being able to vote in municipal elections. The tenants of state houses were not required to pay rates directly to the council as equivalent costs were paid to central government instead, nonetheless residents of state housing were eligible to vote.[1]
