Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates/Jupiter/archive1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass more than two and a half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System combined, and slightly less than one one-thousandth the mass of the Sun. Jupiter is the third brightest natural object in the Earth's night sky after the Moon and Venus, and it has been observed since prehistoric times. It was named after Jupiter, the chief deity of ancient Roman religion.

Once the article on the fifth planet lost its FA status in 2021, the related topic fell along. Last year it became a Good Article, and the one article that was raised up as a possible omission when the topic was promoted back in 2009, Jupiter in fiction, was itself promoted to GA. Another that completes all the blue links on the left side of Template:Jupiter, Impact events on Jupiter, also became a GA. So everything for an overview is here, leaving out a few specific parts (all the other moons, the Great Red Spot, the poles). --igordebraga 07:33, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
