Camouflaged common snakeneck turtle[edit]

Original - A common snakeneck turtle (Chelodina longicollis) covered in camouflaging algae; when resting this individual would look like an algae covered rock
Reason
Good quality (for a dirty environment!), very interesting image illustrating the turtle coming up for air and its use of natural camouflage, highly encyclopaedic.

  • Support per nom. Sure is ugly, though. Don't you ever see any of these when you're out snapping photos in the swamp? Matt Deres (talk) 04:28, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hehe. Nah, unfortunately I think you've got to take them along yourself! I'll keep an eye out for the Lady of the Lake though. --jjron (talk) 07:23, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Oppose because of blur. I understand that it is blurry because the turtle is under pretty murky water, but I feel like the blur detracts from the photo significantly. The freddinator (talk) 00:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Support. It is a VERY ugly animal, but who ever said only pretty animals could have featured pictures? Spinach Dip 20:30, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support Ugly?! I think he's kinda cute. ;-) The only thing that detracts from the image is that stick on the top-left corner. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 20:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
