The assessment department coordinates article assessments for the project based on quality and project importance. The department collects statistics in cooperation with the Version 1.0 Editorial Team. Assessment requests for articles can be made here. To have an article reviewed, usually prior to gaining a higher-level assessment rating, please see the Peer review section below.

Collaboration is conveyed through WikiProject Genetics/Collaboration of the Month

Peer review[edit]

Genetics article peer review exposes articles to closer scrutiny from a broader group of editors, and is intended for high-quality articles that have already undergone extensive work, often as a way of preparing a featured article candidate. To request a peer review, please follow these instructions.

Requests for translation of genetics articles from foreign-language Wikipedias into English may be posted at Wikipedia:Translation. For translation of genetics articles in the opposite direction (from English to another language), see the translation how-to page.

Guidelines - Style guide and essays[edit]

Banners templates[edit]

WikiProject Genetics' project banner is {{WikiProject Genetics}}. Please place at the top of an appropriate talk page. Placing the template on the talk page will help to direct editors to this WikiProject Genetics main page. This is how the template will look when it has been added:

WikiProject Genetics (Rated Project-class)
WikiProject icon This page is within the scope of WikiProject Genetics, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of Genetics on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.
Project  This page does not require a rating on the project's quality scale.

Also, consider classifying the article by quality and importance, using the guidelines found on the assessment page. This can be done by using the template:

{{WikiProject Genetics|class=quality|importance=import}}

where quality may be replaced by Stub, Start, C, B or A and import may be replaced by Low, Mid, High or Top.

An example would be {{WikiProject Genetics|class=Start|importance=Mid}}, which would produce:

WikiProject Genetics (Rated Start-class, Mid-importance)
WikiProject icon This page is within the scope of WikiProject Genetics, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of Genetics on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.
Start-Class article Start  This page does not require a rating on the project's quality scale.
Mid  This page has been rated as Mid-importance on the project's importance scale.

Stub templates[edit]

Remember to mark up stub articles with the appropriate stub template at the bottom of the article. This automatically adds it to the appropriate page and inserts the banners to the bottom of the page. Currently there are three stub templates:

Stub name Category Usage Stub count Banner
{{Genetic-disorder-stub}} Category:Genetic disorder stubs Articles about genes or chromosomes abnormality conditions. 163
{{Geneticist-stub}} Category:Geneticist and evolutionary biologist stubs For heredity and variation in living organism scientists. 66
{{Genetics-stub}} Category:Genetics stubs For all articles on heredity and variation in living organisms. 455
