Commons image needs simple fix[edit]

I've got an image hosted at commons, File:US-O6 insignia.svg, that should be mirrored horizontally - cf. reference at [1]. I see no option to upload a new version of the file at commons, and I wouldn't know how to do so otherwise - uploading to commons is an unholy pain in the rear. If you go to the file page and click the link labelled "description page there", you'll end up at the commons file page. Scroll down a bit, and just above the heading "File usage on Commons" you should see a link "Upload a new version of this file". User:Flindiva/sandbox[edit]

Can someone lend a hand at the above draft? Was asked to look. I spent a good chunk of time turning the "homemade" footnotes ("text[1]") into actual inline citations and fixing all the attribution but feel so apathetic about trying to turn this into a postable article.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:19, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit busy, but I took a look. The lead is all wrong (or missing). The first sentence should give a definition of Bina48. The article needs to be wikified. Way too much is unreferenced. It appears to be a bit promotional/advertisement like. Those are some basic things, and I'll probably post this on the talk page as well. In addition, I don't know what the author's plans were since it is in User:Flindiva/sandbox rather than User:Flindiva/Bina48, but they will need to be reminded to move the article rather than copying and pasting. I had already mentioned to the creator the issue of moving it, and the correct name (see here), though the latter is not normally an issue unless the sandbox has a prior history so that when you move it you have to delete prior revisions. HARTSHORNE[edit]

I had terrible trouble trying to understand through all the jargon how to send a simple email to you. maybe now I have found the way maybe I haven't.

my surname is Hartshorne and in your 'article' you state the pronoucing of it is harts'horne well in all my life (over 60) my name has always been pronounced hart'shorne and whenever it's been pronounced as you state I and other members of my family or friends who know me well have corrected the pronouncing to HART'SHORNE.

The article is making the point is that that it is pronounced Harts'horne, without a /sh/ digraph. Are you trying to say that there should be a /sh/ sound? I rather doubt it. - David Biddulph (talk) 13:19, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LOC id doesn't work[edit]

The URL for the image in question is http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/ma0542/. {{LOC-image}} generates URLs beginning with http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp.

{{LOC-image}} links to http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/prokc.21468 but redirects to http://www.loc.gov/pictures/resource/prokc.21468/ My SWAG is that the LOC changed their linking at some point.

Celebrity profile[edit]

Hi there

I've recently taken over responsibility for some of the social media and online content of a UK based celebrity.

He would like to expand his profile on Wikipedia, to include an up to date biography, including details of all of his TV credits to date.

Unfortunatlely, his celebrity status has attracted a lot of unwanted attention and sometimes downright vile abuse from internet trolls.

Could you let me know how I would be able to create a Wikipedia profile that cannot be edited or contributed to by any 3rd party without approval from myself?

This is purely to prevent any profile created from being hijacked by Internet trolls.

nonexistant article about myself[edit]

There are several references (with links in red) to my name in other wikipedia pages, but there is no page about myself that they point to. I know writing an article about myself is discouraged, but wouldn't something be better than nothing? Error caused by script.[edit]

I have been receiving this error recently. It happens incredibly often (at least one out of 3 edits). I removed User:Ais523/watchlistnotifier.js from my javascripts and I haven't seen it since so I believe that was the problem. Can anyone experienced in scripts look through that and see if they know what the problem is? I would have notified the author, but the user is no longer active. Okay, it looks like either you or someone else tried to add details regarding an agreement your company made with Disney, and those details weren't found in the reference provided, so they were removed. Wikipedia has policies against adding promotional or press-release-type material to articles, and also, against creating an account for the purpose of editing for a company. Remove Seal Image, replace with Logo[edit]

On facebook, the Wikipedia page is loading with the University of North Florida Seal rather than the UNF Logo. University of North Florida would like the Logo to be there instead. I am not sure how to make this happen, but the seal should be removed from the Wiki page all together if possible, and the Logo, which is on the right side of the page below the seal be used in its place. Please let me know if someone can help me make this happen!

Sorry but I think that other editors would be very resistant to making this change. The image in Facebook is being pulled from the infobox at the top of the UNF article. We've standardized on using the seal as the topmost image for nearly all college and university articles. I've argued for making the change you are requesting but I've had no success convincing my fellow editors. If you think you can change minds and develop a new consensus (or at least a consensus that we should make an exception for the UNF article), you're welcome to try! You'd want to do so by opening a discussion in the article's Talk page or maybe in the Talk page of the Universities Wikiproject (where you might get more responses and input from experienced editors). Languages in other script not identified[edit]

I wish that the various languages listed on the left would show an English language translation of the name of the language. For example, I saw a link to pages in %*@$&% (for example), but even clicking on it didn't tell me what language it was. I would have liked to learn which language those characters were from.
