Change draft status[edit]

--Sachin.wwd (talk) 04:50, 13 June 2016 (UTC) This page requires the attention of the concerned authority to change the draft status of the said page. Link provided below:[reply]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Grihalakshmi

@Sachin.wwd: I have added a box with a submit button to the top of Draft:Grihalakshmi. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:20, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The number in the lead will need to be fixed. Eagleash (talk) 10:25, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Right, the article is about an Indian magazine but WP:NUMERAL says: "Group digits in Western thousands-based style (e.g., 30,000,000; not 3,00,00,000)". PrimeHunter (talk) 10:54, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Substitution[edit]

Hello !

Data : just an example.

  • I have superseded the content of the page (1) in the page (2), using this element : {{...}} (and not this element : {{subst:...}}) .
  • The page (1) contains this category : [[category : Example]].

Question : What can I do for that category to seen it in the text editor of the page (2) (note:I can't rate it manually in the text editor of the page (2) when there is a lot of pages).

Same question with another way : what is the code that can modify the [[category : Example]] on the page (1) to rendre it seen in the text editor of the page (2).-- Mr. Yassinosse ☚╣✉╠☛ 15:32, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think you are asking if there is a way to edit the source of a page through the editing box of a page it is transcluded on to. The answer to this is that as far as I know this is not possible: could you give a specific example of where you might want to do this? —  crh 23  (Talk) 18:21, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Yassiiiiine: It is not possible to see the category code when you edit page (2). What do you want to use it for? If you only want to find out where the category on the rendered version of page (2) is coming from, or you want to avoid adding the category on page (2) when you transclude page (1) then there are ways. Acceptable Website Crawlers[edit]

I want to download the reference desk archives but HTTrack is blocked because of Wikipedia's robots.txt. Can someone tell me or direct me to a policy which lists acceptable crawlers I can use? Can I use wget? I really don't want to have to manually save each webpage...WhoWhatWhenWhereWhy&How! (talk) 16:25, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This sounds like a job either for the Wikipedia database dumps, or using the Wikipedia API.. -- The Anome (talk) 16:41, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The API is what I was going to suggest. To confirm: User:WhoWhatWhenWhereWhy&How!, do you want the wikitext or the HTML? —  crh 23  (Talk) 16:45, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer the complete HTML format but just as long as I can read everything, the javascript, css etc. can go. This is just for personal use, if that helps. WhoWhatWhenWhereWhy&How! (talk) 17:02, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is This Blog citeable?[edit]

Having read WP NEWSBLOG (Wikipedia:Verifiability#Newspaper_and_magazine_blogs) I am still unsure as to whether a 'Guest Blog' on the Scientific American website is citeable. The article dated 30 September 2015 is titled: 'Science of the People, by the People and for the People' and is by Caren Cooper. It is not about anything exceptional and 'The views expressed are those of the author(s) and are not necessarily those of Scientific American' (link below).

http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/science-of-the-people-by-the-people-and-for-the-people

So, is this a citeable source please? Richard Nowell (talk) 16:43, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would say not (except in the limited sense of being citable as to Cooper's own views). It is by definition an opinion piece, and not subject to the same level of editorial control and modification as a Scientific American article. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:15, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CASCA[edit]

WHAT IS THE CURRENT ACTIVITY/ACTIVITIES OF CASCA? LISAT OF OFFICERS?WHO IS/ARE TO CONTACT TO AND THE TELEPHONE NO/S?. THANKS — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.95.12.206 (talk) 17:49, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(1) Please do not SHOUT!
(2) Please sign all your posts with four tildes, i.e.four of these without any spaces: ~.
(3) It is unclear which "CASCA" you mean. Our disambiguation page for CASCA has at least two possibilities – do you mean one of these, or some other CASCA? {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 185.74.232.130 (talk) 18:40, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit added extraneous ref tags to the page (<ref></ref><ref></ref>) I have removed them. I also removed the line you tried to insert as it did not match the formatting of the various lists. Please feel free to have another try though, but look at the way the 'mark-up' is written. If you need to add a reference to the addition, do so like this :- <ref>Source content</ref>. Make this page as patrolled[edit]

How/when/why did this start to show up on some pages? Check screenshot.

Is this some new automatically introduced feature? I am familiar what does patrolling mean but I thought I had to ask for such rights and that edits are being marked as patrolled in View history card... --Obsuser (talk) 19:04, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It has always appeared on new pages. Ruslik_Zero 19:26, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen it today for first time. Is there some Help: or Wikipedia: page with this documented?--Obsuser (talk) 19:49, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
WP:PATROLLED should be a good start for you. Dismas|(talk) 20:54, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

General Question on the Review Process[edit]

I have writen a new article. My "Alerts" notification inbox says that the article has already been reviewed by another user. Yet the "This page is a new unreviewed article" message still appears at the top of the article. I supposed it would be automatically removed after the article has been reviewed by another editor. When is this message removed, or can I remove the "new unreviewed article"-template in the source myself now? Rio65trio (talk) 21:23, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to happen sometimes. It's usually because the reviewer just forgot to remove it. I have in the past, removed the notice from articles I've created after I've received notification of review...noting in the ES "Article has been reviewed per notification received (date)". Eagleash (talk) 22:26, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, I will follow your approach. Rio65trio (talk)
