The Wikimedia Korea Association dreams of a world where people around the world, especially Korean speakers, can freely share all the knowledge developed by humanity and the unique knowledge of the Korean-language cultural sphere. To realize that vision, we support and promote activities in Wikimedia projects in Korean, and we support activities that collect and develop educational content distributed under free licenses or public domain that permit the reuse of works.

KIWI No. 11 Early Spring

It's a new spring. Last winter, Korean society was hit by a series of shocking incidents that were unprecedented in many ways. I hope that everyone will get through it well with the unique resilience of Korean society. The publication of Kiwi was delayed due to various concerns. We tried to create a story that would be more interesting to our community participants. We will briefly convey news about various past events and focus more on each other's interests.

partnership

Through partnerships with various groups, the Korean Wikimedia Association seeks to enable new perspectives and diverse viewpoints to be expressed in Wikimedia projects. It also seeks to lower the barriers to access to knowledge through collaboration.

Content diversification

Wikimedia projects aim to increase knowledge about Korea among people from diverse backgrounds in Korean society and strengthen the information base on specialized knowledge by forming alliances with professional groups.

Building a Community

We support activities organized voluntarily by users who participate in Wikimedia projects and help create a community environment where users respect each other.

This is a community event held once a year in Seoul where Wikimedia project participants gather to present and share the results of their project activities.

Wikimedian of the Year

This event selects users and project events that have been active in Wikimedia projects throughout the year.

Edit-a-ton

This is an activity where people gather online or offline to edit a topic together, such as science or women's history.

Educational support

We provide educational support to external groups who want to edit Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia but do not know how or are having difficulty.

Youth support project

We are currently conducting Youth Wiki Tour, which supplements photos of specific locations with youth users, and Youth Wiki Wiki, a wiki editing method lecture with the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Center.

Discovering Korean cultural contents

Anyone can access Korean cultural content through Wikipedia, such as Wiki Tour which captures Korean cultural heritage, street scenes, etc., and Electrification of Old Hanguel Culture' which inputs old Korean documents. Go
