Wikipedia:Meetup/Philadelphia/VU Editathon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Join us to celebrate Women’s History month with a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon highlighting historically significant Villanova women.

The event will be on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 1-3 p.m. in Falvey Library Room 205. Snacks will be provided! You can drop in and out of the event to suit your schedule.

Whether you’re a beginner or expert Wikipedian you can make an impact by increasing the representation of women online. Librarians (Nancy Foasberg and Margot Accettura) will provide everything you need to start editing entries right away!

Reminder: Don't forget your laptop! If you have a chance, we recommend creating a Wikipedia account prior to the event.

Possible Resources

[edit]

News

[edit]

News sources are strongly recommended!

Google News is a good place to start. Not all newspaper articles are available to access (or even to search) via Google, though. If an article isn't available, you can use VU's Journal Finder to see if the library has access to it -- in some cases, this may yield a lot more articles! For instance, the Los Angeles Times has some good articles about Dotsie Bausch. You can also navigate from there to the ProQuest main page, which allows you to limit to news sources if you'd like to search across many newspapers at once.

Books

[edit]

Google Books may help you find mentions of individuals in books you might not otherwise think to check. Here, too, you may find it helpful to search the VU library.

Villanova Documents

[edit]

You can find digitized resources from VU in Digital Library. These may help you learn more about our subjects' time here!
