History of Miami, Florida[edit]

I created that article after breaking off from the Miami, Florida article and expanded it, added images, etc. I want to find out what else do it need to try to make it into a featured article. I know it need work with footnotes, something I don't really know what to do. What else should I expand this on before I try to nominate it for FA status. • I would suggest breaking it up more chronologically; I tried to add nineteenth century and edited some of the section headings. Before, they weren't in a proper hierarchal structure. Perhaps information can be found about the early history of Miami, perhaps even before the colonization by Native Americans (geological history)? I would also suggest delinking all years that don't have a date/ month attached with them per Wikipedia:Make_only_links_relevant_to_the_context#What_should_not_be_linked. The Image:N030791.jpg and Image:Miami PanAm Terminal 1944.jpg don't have the correct copyright tag, and Image:ZangaraMugshot.jpg would probably be best to use the tag {{mugshot}}. A couple of the other images have tags that should be updated but can be used. Many of the sections could benefit from being more thorough, especially towards more recent events that only have a cursory description. I would finally suggest correcting the lead, which should more be a summary of the history of Miami, not how the name came about (see History of New Jersey, History of Arizona, or History of Alaska). Done with all except with some help except for Image:N030791.jpg which I can't find the proper tag. --Jaranda wat's sup 01:04, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It would probably be best removed from this article, especially since the image is misplaced into the 1800s instead of the 1930. AndyZ 20:37, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can a caption be placed for the image of the button; otherwise readers (like me) won't understand the reason for the inclusion of the button. AndyZ 20:52, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In some places, the article also has to be made more thorough. Perhaps something about the geological history of Miami be added. The late 1900s and the Twenty-first century sections are lacking; what about the drug wars and Hurricane Andrew that are briefly mentioned and then nothing else is said? A couple of the numbers in the article should probably be cited; for example like: 600,000 men trained in South Florida, which in itself isn't very pertinent to the subject anyway.
