Administrator instructions

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.
Shortcuts:

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Draft:Destiny's Bridge (2)[edit]

I was given permission by the film's producer, Jack Ballo, to write up this wiki. Also, the blog you site is from MY blog, Jersey Shore Retro. Please reconsider undeleting. Thank you. -2601:84:C604:8440:9CA0:E648:B16:4E8A (talk) 17:40, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G12, which indicates a page copied and pasted wholesale from another source, or otherwise closely paraphrased from same. G12 deletions will not be overturned here or anywhere else. Not only do we not accept blogs as sources (unless the blog belongs to a renowned expert and he's talking in his field of expertise), it's Wikipedia who needs the permission to host the copyrighted material, not the writer to use it. See WP:Copyrights and WP:Donating copyrighted materials for more details. (TL;DR: It's the website hosting the material who needs the permission, not the person crossposting it.) —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:33, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
To prove that permission is granted, you can edit your blog (at https://jerseyshoreretro.wordpress.com/ and also http://www.destinysbridge.com) to say CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL licenses are granted on the content. If you let us know when and where this is done a restore will be considered. State the text of any attribution you require with the CC-BY-SA-3. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:55, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
  • I'd actually just recommend that they re-write the material from scratch, since copyrighted material is almost always too promotional to restore. Even if you do give permission for the material, in most cases the material would still fail the promotional guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:14, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

City Water International[edit]

The article contains history about one of the oldest and largest water filtration company of Canada. It was a purely informative article containing history of the company and how it came into existence. It also contains the installation process to create awareness on drinking healthy and pure water. -74.12.38.162 (talk) 03:22, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

  • X mark.svg Not done This article was deleted by Randykitty as G11, unambiguous promotion. Offhand, I can see why since comments like "In order to ensure the highest-quality drinking water for its clients, City Water International conducts thorough sanitation and cleaning of all point-of-use water cooler systems on an annual basis." are seen as promotional. If you have an account that has an e-mail he may be willing to send you a copy. If so, then I recommend trying to create this via WP:AfC to ensure that it's neutral in tone. Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -192.152.249.253 (talk) 14:05, 24 August 2015 (UTC) The argument given is that this individual is not 'famous' enough to warrant entry into your pages. In this day and age, it has never been truer that quantity is not as important as quality. Immediately after entry into your pages, there were individuals inquiring about this author via your website. The author has lectured all over the country and his books are available in many libraries, as well as online at several websites. Is it that they pertain to a spiritual nature that you deign not to see them fit for your website? I see that your pages included Captain Spock and Commander Kirk, so you cannot be all that straight-laced. Your pages contain everything and anything. Why this particular author does not meet your requirements and indeed just what those requirements are, I cannot for the life of me, see. Please give this your fairest attention. Thank you. Regards Richard Jones.

  • (Non-administrator observation) @192.152.249.253: (and original author @Rjones01011969:) The article was deleted per WP:BLPPROD as a biography of a living person for which no references had been provided. All information in an article should be verifiable from reliable sources, and the consensus among established editors here is that this is especially important in biographical articles. I didn't see the original article and as a non-admin I can't view deleted content, but it appears any actions taken had nothing to do with how "famous" he is claimed to be. That said, even if references had been provided, an article on him would still need to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for biographies, and it would need to stand or fall on its own merits rather than being compared to other articles. Hope this helps. --Finngall talk 18:26, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Finngall, note that admins will restore BLPPRODs here on request (on the grounds that not doing so creates a key-locked-in-chest scenario). This will restore the article, but reset the BLPPROD timer. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:55, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
  • @Jéské Couriano: I wasn't a) opposed to it being undeleted, b) trying to provide a justification why it shouldn't be, or c) misunderstanding REFUND procedure--I was just trying to correct what appeared to be the creator's misconception as to why the article was deleted to begin with. --Finngall talk 21:33, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes check.svg Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. Actually there were references, though perhaps not adequate enough to find, and not in-line. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:20, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
  • I hate to say it, but I'm thinking of nominating this for deletion. I can't really find anything out there about this guy except for some of his books, which appear to be almost all self-published. His role on Strange Paradise must have been very tiny, since there's no record of this out there either. Unless there are a ton of news stories out there that aren't on the net, I don't see him really surviving the AfD. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:58, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Category:Billboard Rhythmic Airplay number-one singles[edit]

The category reflect the list of songs that reached number one on Billboard's Rhythmic chart, but the ones who wanted it deleted singled it out because they don't see it as a legitimate chart and given that we have 27 other categories related to the Billboard charts, so I see this as biased and unfair. Pinging acting admin @JamesBWatson:.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:22, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
It wasn't "accidently deleted". The deletion was made under speedy deletion criterion G5, "Pages created by banned or blocked users in violation of their ban or block, and which have no substantial edits by others". There were two edits by other accounts, and two by an editor not logged in to an account. Those four edits were: one edit which added a category, two one-character edits which corrected a spelling mistake, and an edit which made a few minor changes such as removing an unnecessary capital letter and removing a genre. There were indeed "no substantial edits by others". The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 09:14, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Gardner Goldsmith[edit]

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -50.187.40.234 (talk) 21:57, 26 August 2015 (UTC) 1. Page Name: Gardner Goldsmith (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardner_Goldsmith)

2. I am Gardner Goldsmith, and can provide documented information to support this. For many years, a Wikipedia page that was created by one of the listeners to my radio program was available for others to view. The page was also cross-referenced to the radio show Free Talk Live, which has its own Wikipedia page, and for which I was a co-host for many years. My wikipedia page was a godsend to me, for it allowed me to refer people to it for quick information about my background, and it also informed people of my books and of places where my articles have appeared. For a reason about which I am unaware, someone requested in 2014 that the page about me be removed. (I suspect this was done by political opponents when I ran as a Libertarian for the US Senate from NH, but who can be certain about the motives?) As you can see from this other Wiki, Wikiliberal, which is for French readers (http://www.wikiberal.org/wiki/Gardner_Goldsmith), my background is accessible at many websites and my articles are easily obtained. If you need to contact me for confirmation of any of the information about me that was originally published on Wikipedia, or for any ID confirmation, feel free to write to me at (Redacted). Thank you. I hope to hear from you, or see the page restored.

@50.187.40.234: This can charitably be called a biographical proposed deletion (BLPPROD), as the concern was that it was an unsourced biography. We have far stricter sourcing standards for biographies due to the risk of editors introducing libel; and even if this weren't a biography we don't accept wikis as a source. Sources written by the subject can only be used to cite items that are not in dispute, and cannot be used to help satisfy our core inclusion criteria. Take note that I have redacted your email address in your message above; this page is quite publicly viewable and it gets its fair share of trolls. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 22:41, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
  • The article has some issues with tone, in that it's kind of a bit of a fan/personal page at times. The only way I'd really feel comfortable restoring this is if some very, very good sources were provided to back up notability and if we could have some reassurance that Mr. Goldsmith would not be editing his own page. (Or that he would not be getting someone else to edit the page in the way that he specifically wants.) Wikipedia discourages people writing or editing their own entries. I'm going to have to say that this shouldn't be restored until we have those two things. I have to say that offhand, I'm not really finding much out there other than his attempt to run for Senate and even then, that's pretty limited in its coverage. Basically, even if we were to restore this now, I don't really see where this would pass an WP:AfD. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:08, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

I see that there were several claims of importance. So I think the A7 delete can be overthrown. But do you have any more independent references to add so that it might survive an AFD? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:19, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
I can find more references if I get the old content. It won't be much difficult. He is one of the most respected and followed Acharya among Jains. -- Pankaj Jain Capankajsmilyo 06:23, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

X mark.svg Not done. Steven, this was hagiograpy – blatantly promotional crowing of the subject's virtue and opinion characterization. Nevertheless it still might have been undeleted for reworking (though never acceptable as written), but a more significant problem makes that impossible. It contained multiple copyright violations and plagiarism. For example, content from here, here and here.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:21, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Journal of Physical Security[edit]

This article about a journal was deleted 5 years ago because at the time it did not meet wikipedia notability criteria. It now has an ISSN and may well be notable. Please restore to the Draft namespace so we can try to establish notability. -★NealMcB★ (talk) 14:27, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Island Heat[edit]

Today I encountered the second article nominated by the contributor who nominated this article. No one else weighed in at the AFD for Island Heat, and the nominator's second nomination triggered my concern that the nominate didn't understand that we don't nominate articles on notable topics just because we think the current state of the article falls short, I'd like to look at the article to see if it was really on a non-notable topic. Geo Swan (talk) 14:41, 29 August 2015 (UTC) -Geo Swan (talk) 14:41, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Non-Admin Response @Geo Swan: This seems to be a common theme within your arguments for keeping any article you have had a hand in creating. Instead of questioning the motives of the nominator let's try to assume good faith, you need to convince people why your articles meets the inclusion criteria in this case 3 different people agreed on deletion, not just the nominator. At any point this is not the venue to have an AFD overturned you will need to first approach the deleting admin User:Davewild or Deletion Review.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:18, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Evidently in that case, you consider this user a nobody? Mdann52 (talk) 15:24, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
  • A lapse, my apologies. I must have misinterpreted that final delete as the final comment of he closing administrator. Geo Swan (talk) 16:01, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
  • @Mcmatter: This request was not triggered by a failure to AGF on my part.
  • I wasn't clear, I was requesting userification. I apologize for the confusion.
  • In case anyone is confused by McMatter's personal reflections -- I have no previous history with the Island Heat article. I asked for userification of this article due to a concern that an inexperienced nominator may not have fully understood their obligations under WP:BEFORE. Discussions here should be about the pros and cons of userifying this article. Geo Swan (talk) 16:05, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

2014 Formula One season[edit]

This article was deleted at AFD in 2010, and subsequently recreated, and has since had several thousand edits. I request the pre-deletion history be grafted to the beginning of the current article. Another contributor is arguing that the 2010 deletion of this article justifies the deletion another article, 2021 World Championships in Athletics today. Others have argued that, although the 2021 event hasn't been held, notable milestones, like the choosing of Eugene Oregon as the host city, above other cities, has been made.

If the Formula One article's AFD happened before any notable milestones had been documented, then its deletion is irrelevant to the other discussion. Geo Swan (talk) 02:14, 30 August 2015 (UTC) -Geo Swan (talk) 02:14, 30 August 2015 (UTC)`

The question is, what milestones would those be, realistically? The release of the race schedule, I assume, since F1 races in different countries every year... —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 05:17, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
