Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFRPL)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: IP vandalism Scu ba (talk) 17:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would not call it vandalism. There's an edit-war. The side that's removing content is appealing to WP:BLP policy, albeit without Wikipedia jargon. Per policy, their concerns ought to be addressed before restoring the content. That's not happening. The fully restored article does read like an attack page. This revision that the IP tried seems without urgent problems. I would suggest protecting it there and directing the parties to seek consensus for addition of controversial content, per BLP. — Usedtobecool ☎️ 18:59, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined Per above. The BLP issues need to be addressed before the content is readded. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:02, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    UEFA Euro 2024 broadcasting rights

Reason: I need to ask again, beacuse, as expected, ipuser ignored my calls to take it to talk page, he had ignored also my asking for him have a account so i could talk with him in a way we could reach consensus, so i can safely assume that he purposely avoided any type of consensus talk, no matter what i tried.

There has no other way, this is the not the first time it happens, i am asking for semi-protection not as preventive measure, but as last resort agnaist the lack ot interest in make consensus and as a way to avoid a edit war that would make more harm than good Meganinja202 (talk) 21:15, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an admin but... "he had ignored also my asking for him have a account so i could talk with him in a way we could reach consensus" is just wrong. No IP is obligated to listen to you and get an account. You can talk with them, and reach consensus, without them needed to have an account.
You also could have posted on the IP's talk page. @Meganinja202 Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 21:27, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
does ip have talk page? as far i know, only users has talk page

Also i want be clear, its not my intention force him to have account, I want to talk with him and try reach a consensus, but as far i tried, he ingored my plea for debate into a consensus, I feel he may try make it into a edit war if things stay as it is. Meganinja202 (talk) 21:33, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IPs have talk pages. You asked once and didn't post anywhere. "I feel he may try make it into a edit war" - it's already an edit war, one that you are nearly just as wrong in. @Meganinja202 Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 22:33, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I said before, this is the not the first time I tried to put a final conensus about the theme, each time I tried on the last 12 months to put a consensus about it, the IP user had ignored any plea for talk, I will try find his talk page, but i dont have any hope he will try be comunicative about it Meganinja202 (talk) 22:47, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined continue discussing with the IP editor on their talk page, if that doesn't work come back and request semi-protection, or report to WP:ANEW as edit warring. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:14, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons for not being convincing, so why not revert all other articles. Reverting back to the old content instead of keeping the current good content shows rigidity and a lack of constructive thinking. 2401:D800:2947:6E01:B9CE:35DE:2720:9BCA (talk) 02:00, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary as the problems that caused vandalism have now passed. I think that Semi protected status would now be most suitable. Arrowe6365 (talk) 21:27, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    History of Palestine

The article refers to Palestine as a "country", even in the ancient period. This is false and misleading. The evidence is in the article itself. This was done with the intention of accusing Israel of invading a "country" called Palestine. That's a lie.

    - Oxford Dictionary defines "coun·try" as a nation with its own government. It defines "na·tion" as a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language. Neither of definitions applies to Palestine, certainly not before 1988, when the Palestine National Council proclaimed the State of Palestine. That State is NOT recognized by over 50 member-states of the UN.

    - Before 1988, it was a REGION with a NAME, under foreign rule, not a "country". The name "Palestinian" used to refer to both Jewish and non-Jewish residents, who lived there, side-by-side, for centuries.

    - The last time it was independent, indigenous, and self-governing was under the ancient Hebrews. - Since the ancient Hebrews, it's been under continuous foreign rule by foreign invaders.
